The gentle breeze rustled through the leaves of the towering blue gums in the valley, the scent of the bottlebrush flowers filled Adara’s nostrils and she sighed happily. Spring was her favorite season, not only was the grass succulent, the berries deliciously sweet but the butterflies came in droves and danced through her home making her heart sing.

Lifting her head to the sky Adara stretched her slender neck feeling the warmth of the sun soaking through her flea bitten grey coat as her mane danced in the wind, she paused as a foreign scent hits her. “what ever could that be?” she mutters under her breathe as she looks in the direction of the down wind draft. The scent isn’t offensive with slight hints of floral mixed amongst that of a stranger.

Not being one to ever shy away from curiosity Adara tentatively begins walking following her nose in the direction of this strange scent, the path others generally use to move through the valley is at least 2 kilometers in the opposite direction which has Adara’s interest even further invested. Stepping through knee high wild flowers she comes to a hedge of sorts. “How very peculiar, i explore here daily and have never noticed this before.” Adara let’s out a snort.

“hello?!” a male’s voice filled with panic shouts from behind this strange new hedge. Adara stills, all nerve endings screaming at her to run. Incoherent mumbling follows immediately after, Adara’s ears p***k forward trying to pick up what may be happening, how many predators lay on the other side?. Staying planted to the spot only a single voice can be identified, talking to themselves?, stumbling, is there a mix of laughter to themselves?.... Clearly crazy and lost Adara breathes out as the anxiety begins to leave her body and she walks closer the the hedge to catch a glimpse of this crazy individual.

Peeking through a small gap in the tree line Adara spot’s the stallion, her eyes going wide!, Are they? Surely not?!, Bunny ears!!. The fear of last years bunny experience fills every fibre of her body.

Spinning on a dime Adara turns, leaps and begins to scamper only for her legs to give out in the thick grass, tumbling to the ground bottom over head with a –Thud-. The stallion hearing the commotion startles in the opposite direction leaving only a trail of flower petals behind him as he gallops uncertainly towards the dense bushland that surrounds the valley.

“oof” Adara let’s out a grunt as she lay’s on the ground trying to figure out which way is up and down. Her legs kick out towards the pale blue sky as she rolls to her stomach before tenderly lifting herself up analyzing what has been hurt and how seriously. Thankfully the ground is soft after spring rain and lush grass helps cushion the falls (as well as cause it). She realizes suddenly that no footfalls followed her direction, the valley is silent and the strange stallions scent has become faint. Could she have actually been the one to frighten this stranger? How can one with bunny ears be frightened after the last encounter? But thinking further on the subject, this bunny eared boy didn’t have an ounce of blood in sight on that floral woven coat. With a full body shake to release the built up tension Adara decides to put her big girl pantaloons on and peer through the hedge just to confirm he was no longer in sight. Looking at the spot she had last seen the stallion she noticed what appeared to be a ring of trodden grass like someone had been walking in circles with only bunny prints leading away. “How peculiar” she thought to herself, how can you arrive without leaving a trail. Looking closer there were flower petals building up next to the bunny prints, delicate blue petals to be precise.

Stepping through the hedge was quite the ordeal, sticks scraped along Adara’s flanks causing her to flinch and rush forward. Thankfully her legs stayed beneath her this time with only a small stumble, it’s tricky being born on the clumsy side of life. Everything looked normal, as she remembered it on the other side of the hedge, the only change being the hedge itself. “How can this grow over night?” she thought nervously, not even thinking it could be connected to Mr Bunny ears who’s flower trail led straight for the thick bushland. With a huff of slight excitement Adara lowered her head to the fresh bunny prints and began her adventure into the unknown.
