For this prompt you'll RNG 1-3 to determine how happy/willing the Cactus Cat is to be around you. This is for the prompt only. Once obtained, it can act however you'd like. You'll write 250 words (more is fine if you want, but the blurb must be finished) about how you find, obtain, receive (etc) the Cactus Cat.

If you roll a 1: The cat is somewhere between in love with you to very much approves of you.
If you roll a 2: The cat is somewhere between complacent to mostly tolerable to you.
If you roll a 3: The cat is somewhere between "touchy" about you to outright grouchy or even distrustful.

Haigha saw something in the distance that seemed at odds with the environment. Being a cat, curiousity got the best of her. However, she was also a cantakerous and skeptical cat unlike some of her sisters. When she got closer to the bright green so at odds with the bush, she realized there was something there.

And it was mewing. She raised her eyebrow critically. "You've got to be kidding me." She sighed dramatically, "Abriella!" She called out loudly. "We've encountered an...issue." Carefully, she reached in snarling a bit when she discovered the prickly thorns on the vines. "How did you even get in here?" The cat looked at her with it's large round eye. "Are you going to talk?" she asked. But the cat just looked at her.

Hissing Haigha untangled the vines from between the thorns on the cat. The smaller thorns ont he vine seemed to be puncturing the cats delicate skin causing a clear fluid to leak out."You're really stuck in there, aren't you?" She couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the creature. It didn't help that it continually gave her the big eyes.

One of the large thorns from the cat pierced her skin and she yowled as blood ran out of her paw to soak the ground. Letting out a string of curses, she shook her bloody paw off before her sister had to caution her against just ripping out the vines all together. Finally, the vines loosed enough that the little fellow wiggled out then right up her leg to perch on her shoulder. "What do you think you're doing?" She grumbled. "Go."

But the thorny little beast did not go.

"What's going on?" Abrella Glasgow asked primly. When she saw what her sister considered an issue, she cooed. "Oh my how darling they are!" She glanced around the bush daintly. "There seems ti be two. No wait Four of the darlings. I wonder where their mother is?" Her sister Haigha had given her the look when she said that."Come now, don't you feel the least bit sorry for them? And there's four of them, how perfect!" But as she spoke two of the cactus cats wiggled further into the large viney bush. "Well our sisters are just going to have to come get their own."

Haigha had muttered something at her that sounded like crazy, but whatever. The little darling was purring and trying it's best to wiggle out and get to here. Well, at least the one she'd made eye contact with. It was like an instant connection. It felt as though theyir souls had seen each other, every single hidden place and accepted each other. It was a beautiful moment.

The little cactus cat seemed to wiggle and weave as she held up the long vines with a stick. It was smaller than the rest making it easier for it to get out. When it did, she'd lowered her wing to the sweet female cat to let it climb aboard her. It's steps were careful, trying not to hurt herm

Abriella wasn't sure how this was going to work out with a thorny little cat for a pet, but it would work if she had to make it work by sheer force of will.

Leofric went to the bush that her sister had described. Haigha had been surprisingly helpful with directions. The bush was easy to find with the mewling of the little cactus cats n the bush. "Oh, Abriella is right. They are cute, prickly little things. These seem a bit more suspicious than the ones she described. But Abriella had been right when she said there was exactly enough for all the sisters.

Leofric got down on her belly to call the cat, but it seemed to be complacent "Don't you want to come out?" The cat tilted it's head at her but didn't move. "Really? You'd rather live in a bush in the cold?" The cat blinked at her as if saying no.

A moment longe rit hesitated then wiggled it's way half-way out before getting stuck. Leofric reached into help, the small thorns from the vines biting at her skin as she tried to get her paw closer to the little creature. Pushing the largest vine out of the way, the cat--who it's self was covered in thorns- wiggled out to her. When she stood up the cat looked up at her with large eyes tenatively touching her with it's paw before it moved between her legs and looked up at her with shy smile. "I'll take care of you," Leofric said. "I promise,: the little cat began purring loudly.

"Zendaya!" Leofric looked at her sister, covered in blood. "What are you doing? Why would you just barge into a thorny bush like that?" Blood was dripping everywhere, but Zendaya seemed oblvious to all of it as she spoke softly to the cat.

Zendaya had been too excited to stand it the whole way to the bush her sister's had told them about. She wondered what a cactus cat was really like and what would it eat? Did it like mice? Or did it need to be watered regurrealy? She didn't know but she was eager to find out. She hoped at least that the cactus cat itself knew so they didn't have to go through a bunch of trial and error.

It didn't matter that she hadn't seen the little critter yet, she was head over heels in love with it. Was this what being a mother felt like? Her mind zoomed from one thing to the next as they got to the area they'd been searching for.

The cactus cat was firmly in the middle of a bush with thorns. After watching Leofric fail to summon out the other little cat, Zenday did what she always did and barged right in heedless of the thorns that ripped at her skin. She only had eyes for the kitten.

It mewled at her pathetically, as she tried to disentangle him from the thorns. But it seemed he was leaking, a kind of clear fluid where he'd been piereced by the thorns. Being extremly careful, she extracted each thorn the best that she could as he made little sounds of pain. "I've got you, I''ve got you."

Zendaya's head shot up as her sister shouted her name. She laughed lightly, "It's just a few scratches. Definately worth tt. Isn't that right, Saguro?" She tested the name out on the cat, who purred enthusiastically. "That sounds perfect doesn't it!" Saguro gave a mewl of approval

Zephirine Amachi-Tyrell was at a stand off with a cactus masquerading as a cat. "Move out of the way," she growled again There wasn't enough room to bypass the cat in the little canyon they were in. The cat slapped it's thorny tail down in agitation. It was not going to move, stubborn little brat.

Zephirine slapped her bony tail down close to the cat, "I have one too." They both kept glaring at each other. The obnoxious cat pouned on the hair at the end of her bone tail and rolled in it. "UGH!" Zephrine tried to shake the cat out of her hair, but now it had rolled in her hair enough that herr hair was woven through the needles on it's back. Of course, now it mewled at her. She kept trying to shake it out, but everytime she did it just made everything worse.

Zephirine faced off with the cat trying not to switch her tail in agitation. "Okay, okay...."Her face screwed up in concentration. "Let's start over." She flicked her ears back and the cat copied her. "Is that so?" She flicked her tail. It seemed the little cat was set on copying her. Looking closer, she noticed that the cat was smaller. A kitten? It was copying her. Maybe it didn't know how to...well, cat? Shouldn't it have a mother around?

The kitten kept glaring at her. She glared back. It had to be young. Young enough that it should be with it's mother. Young enough that it was copying her actions to know how to act. Could it be that it was acting in irritation toward her because she was acting irritated with it? She took a deep breath. It had been a long, very long and hot day. It had been frustrating. The trade she had planned on had fallen through and her more amorous endevours hadn't worked out because she was so irritated.

Taking several deep breaths she calmed herself down and moved her head gingerly down to the suspcious little one. '"Let's start with getting you out of this okay?" The kitten still glared at her. She probably dserved that. As gently as she could, she used her mouth to try to pull her hair out of the spikes. When that failed, she'd use her teeth. Trying not to get poked so that she would bleed everywhere, she wound up just cutting of a few inches of her hair. It was then easier to turn around and unthread the hair when it wasn't attached to her tail. Finally, she got the kitten free and it scampered a few steps away, but not too far so that it could continue to watch and glare at her. "I'm sorry okay, I shouldn't have taken my day out on you." The kitten looked at her stonily. "Are you alone out here?" The kitten paused for a moment before nodding it's head.

"Well, I..." She stopped a bit at a loss for words. "I'm alone too. Maybe I need you as much as you need me." The kitten glared. "Of couse, not that you really need me or me you." The kitten nodded along to that. "Well, come on then." The kitten turned around and let her through then fell into step with her as it scuttled along.

Aldrovanda was estatic with his new pet? Plant? Pet plant? Plant pet? That one, he thought. That perfectly described his new little friend. By the looks of it, he was just as mch in love with him as he was with him. He let out a contented sigh as he brought the spiky creature closer. "Do you have a name" The cat tilted it's head seeming to show a small grin.
"Hmm, well yes you do have a name. I'm never going to guess it, am I?" He booped the little creature on the nose. "I don't have many friends," he confessed. "They all seem to leave in the end. Like I run them away or something. I don't know what I do wrong though. All I do is love them and try to help them." He signed sadly. "You're just going to leave me too aren't you?" He could feel the sadndess trying to weigh him down. He had always been a happy go lucky person, but the last few months had been taxing. They mada him wonder at his own worth.

"I won't leave you," the cat seemed to purr as it climbed up it his vine and made himself at home. "I'm a part of you now, just as much as you are a part of me. Anyone who has left you is stupid. They don't really see you."

Aldrovanda seemed a little taken back with the cactus cat having actually spoken. "You can talk?"

"Of course, I can. Just like you." The cat purred again, "My name is Leaf. See, I'm a part of you."

Scorpions for Rohanna (2 black) and Falsetto (2 blue).

User Image

You've gone treasure hunting in the vast desert. When you find a buried entrance, you can't believe your luck. However, when you go in, the door slams shut. Write a minimum of 250 words about what happens next.

If you roll a 1: You are surrounded by scorpions. How do you escape?
If you roll a 2: You come face to face with a scorpion the size of a small horse (sorry if you're usidia!). What do you do to outrun it (because there's no way you can fight it)?
If you roll a 3: You have been bitten by a scorpion. Your body is starting to slow and go numb. There's a shining crystal vial on a pedestal across the room. It must be the antidote! How do you get there as your limbs start dragging? Do you make it in time?

Rohanne Amachi-Tyrell should have known better. Treasure this easy to find wasn't actually that easy. There was a catch, there was always a catch. He'd seen the entrance and had decided to take a look inside. That had been his first mistake. His second had been when he'd not been careful to let his eyes adjust before entering. The third had been actually entering. Sure enough as soon as he stepped inside the hidden door had sprung shut leaving him in darkness. He' hadn't even had time to adjust to what was happening when the scorpion had bitten him.

It had started as a weird sensation, a light tingling in his body that seemed to spread fast. It became more difficult to move and then he started to feel light-headed. The room started to wobble. His sight that had started to become adjusted to the dark had started to falter. He slowly blinked, trying to get his body and brain to align. Then his lips began to tingle and his throat started to feel funny, not in a good way.

The crystal vial seemed to shine across the room like salvation. Rohanne's vision wavered again. he tried to move but it was like the message wasn't going from his brain to his hooves. He could feel the hilt of his sword dragging, dragging just like his feet were now. He lurched forward like a zombie in one of those stories his sister loved to hear so much.

His sister, no one knew he was here. He could feel his throat closing and his vision fading as he forced one foot in front of the other. They wouldn't know what happened to him. He couldn't die like some idiot who stumbled into some hole in the ground and disappeared. He would not die this way and he definately would not die today.

After another step or two, his breathing became more labored and he crashed to the ground. He couldn't get his hooves up underneath him. Rohanne's strength was fleeing him faster than he even thought it could. He used the point of his sword to shove into the ground and try to make it to his feet. He kept struggling as his body began to pant. The vial was closer and then farther away in his sight.

Finally, his lips found the bottle and he plucked the stopper from the vial. It took him an alarming amount of strength to do it. He tipped the vial back and he felt himself began to fall. His lthroat wasn't working to get it down. Breathe! Just breathe.

Rohanne took a painful swallow and felt the elixer restorying life to him. His throat began to ease and his breathing became less labored. The spasms that had begun in his muscles started to reside and he felt warmth coming back to his extremeties. His first full breath of air felt like a miracle, Then it was as though his whole body began working again all at once. Adrenaline flowed thorugh him and he used it to force himself to find a way out before he crashed.

tems for Kek (two black) and Waldorf (two blue)

Waldorf had decided on a whim, a fit of inspiration to go into the tepid jungle where there was rumoured to be treasure so vast that it couldn't be counted or even fathomed. Or at least that was the story of Ridley Damen the legendeary seeker of lost treasure.. He'd been walking for about a day wishing he'd brought some sunscreen for his delicate white skin. It hadn't been his best idea to brave the sunny, arid jungle. There were great long moments where he was beneath towerng trees thicker than he was tall but there were also moments that he found himself admist a sea of grass walking in the blazing sun. It idnd't take much for the sweat to build on his skin. At least he had brought enough water, at least he hoped it was enough.

Then the trees had opened up and were totally gone from sight. All around him was sand, vast treachorous mountains of it as far as the eye could see. It had to be days and days of it. There was nothing but sand, everrywhere. He'd never seen so much sand.

Waldorf thought back to the map in his mind. Nowhere could he remember seeing a desert on it. Something was seriously wrong. It couldn't be as big as it looked though, right? Deserts didn't just show up on maps out of thin air. After a few more moments of undecisiveness, Waldorf decided to forge ahead. As they said, the only way out is through. Isn't that what they said?

After several hours of walking, the landscape looked the same in every direction. Sand, sand, and more sand. He could practically hear his own skin sizzling. It seemed as if the dunes of sand just grew higher and higher. The wolrd was nothing but sand.

It was so inconspicious he almost missed it. it was a kind of carved door with ancient symbols. For a moment, he traced over it with the heel of his hoof and then something triggered causing the door to open. Hesistating for a moment, Waldorf finally moved into the room and the moment he did the door slammed shut behind him. Before he turned around, he felt a terrble sting as he was turning. He fumbled his feet and the world wavered. Then whether it was as drem or vision, he saw the crystal vial illuminated like some museum artifact across the room. He took two steps towards it, inexplicably drawn like a moth to a flame. That had to be the antidote or else...He couldn't think about what else.

He tripped again and fell into the sand. His legs wouldn't work properly. He had to get to that vial! He dragged himself inch by terrible inche toward it. The sand stung his legs and got into the sunburn that was beginning to fester and open on his legs. Finally, he pulled himself to the pedestal and knocked the vial into the soft sand. Struggling, he kept trying to pull out the stopper with his teeth. He couldn't seem to get a good grip on it. He bit into it and broke the glass. The cool liquid spilled over his tongue and down his throat right before he passed out.

Red daggers Marcellus and Skadi
User Image

DECEMBER 1, 2024

When you wake up, there's a beautiful dagger plunged into the ground beside you. You had to touch it, didn't you? Now that you've touched it the curse is activated. Write a minimum of 250 words about what happens with the dagger. After you stop the dagger's power, you can keep itl

If you roll a 1: The curse winds up being more of you cursing at whoever did this to you. You can't do anything right. Everything you try to do goes wrong, often in hilarious ways.
If you roll a 2: The curse is deadly. You have to find a way to neutralize the dagger. How?
If you roll a 3: The dagger is actually a draining dagger, which means your breed gifts are slowly being nullified (a flutter would be unable to shrink, a unicorn to heal). Only an unselfish act can neutralize it.

Marcellus Casquette du Sang woke up while on his journey to find a dagger piercing the ground next to him. No one was around who could have given it to him. It there had been someone, why hadn't they just given it to him? And if they were any enemy, why hadn't they plunged it through his heart? It would have been easy enough. He hadn't thought he'd slept that soundly, but if someone had been able to leave a dagger right beside him then he had to have.

It was thin and slightly wavy, long for someone his size. The blade and the handle of the knife were what looked like stone-- a wavy, red or orange type hue. He'd never seen anything so beautiful in his life. He circled the knife looking for a trap, but he couldn't find one. There didn't seem to be a reason that he couldn't at least....touch it. Hesitating a moment longer, he shifted and gripped the daggar with his teeth and yanked it from the ground.

Something like cold water went from the top of his head to the tip of his tail causing him to shiver. This was not good. He had red stories of what proceeded a feeling like that. How stupid could he have been picking up something just left out in the open for him!? Obviously, it had been a cursed artifact. How insanely stupid of him, it was't like anyone would have left him a gift and daggers didn't just appear out of nowhere. What had he been thinking?

But it didn't matter, did it? The problem now was that however he was cursed he had to break it before he started suffering any ill effects like death. There wasn't much to be done until he got home.

As the day grew on, he felt strange as though as fever was coming over him but he had to make it home. He needed his books to study what to do to break this curse. Bastianna greeted him when he walked in, giving him a suspicious look when he came in shaking. Just the rain, he had told her She hadn't believed him but at least she'd not stopped. He wound through the halls until he reached his room then laid the dagger down on his table while he began flipping through the book. It only took him a few minutes to find the text about cursed daggers. They were usually left for someone who had done some kind of ill will to the previous owner. That didn't really narrow it down. He'd done a lot of ill will or more. While cursed it must never draw his blood, that could cause things to escalate more quickly. He read on a few more pages. If he broke the curse, he could use this dagger freely having won it's ownership by breaking the curse. After adding some hellebore and sage to the fire, he held the blade over it until it was too hot to stand it any longer. Then he held it longer, until he heard a kind of cracking pop in his ears. The sense of cold retreated from his body and he pulled the daggar back from the flames. It was his now. But who had done this to him?

Bram had woken up to the dagger beside him. He had thought that it was the one he had ordered only to find his strenth fading away. He didn't know what to do. IHe couldn't really ask about it--he hadn't learned to speak again yet. What if asking about it brought down the curse on somoene else anyways? It was best to keep it to himself. He tried to cover up his discomfort all day around his love. Of course, Tansy had asked if he was okay and he had nodded that he was fine. She probably knew he wasn't though but as long as he didn't bring her into this then she should be fine right?

His heart pounded in his chest as he tried to reason out how this had happened. Someone was trying to curse him or drain him. But who would do that? Was he the target? Or was it someone he loved and would protect, like Tansy? he needed to figure this out quickly. The longer he let this go on, the weaker her would get and the less able to defend those who needed his protection.

What did he know of thses kind of artifacts? Usuaully they were either from a curse and just kept wound up being passed around along with the effects....or after the death of the initial soquili involved. Death was obviously not the kind of out he was looking for. It was an out, but not a desirable one. And then there were items that were cursed to work on a specific soquili, but that didn't seem to be right. he couldn't think of anyone who would do that to him or his beloveds. He couldn't think of anyone who actually held a grudge against him.

That left him with the idea that this daggar was an artificct that just appeared to test soquili or just randomly showed up until it was used or taken. The dagger wanted this, that was an unpleasant thought that left the dagger with much more sentience than he w would like to even tink about. Was this a test then? That made the most sense but a test for what? Bravery? Heroic deeds? It could be anything, so that didn't actually help him at all.

The only way that he was ever going to figure this out was if he asked someone for help. He wouldn't risk that thought. He'd have to guess how to stop the dagger or he'd have to learn to live with it. He couldn't let anyone--especially Tansy anywhere near this. It was his curse and his curse alone.

The dagger began to shake and shake before the gem on it changed color to a clear blue and green. When he took a deep breath it felt as though his lungs weren't constricted anymore. The dagger felt..normal. Unusual looking bug normal. How had that happened? He wasn't sure what he had done, but he had done it it seemed. The draining had stopped and now the blade felt right as hit lay against his skin, as thought it had always been intended for him.

Moths slurpy and raccoon fam

You fall into an apocalyptic dream. The area is a wasteland. To the left is a bridge shrouded in fog, and you decide to head that way. Out of the fog, a mysterious being appears with glowing red eyes. There's a papery flap of wings and a low buzzing that seems to be aimed at you. You feel your skin prickle while a great sense of destiny seems to hold you in it's grasp. You have met the mothman.

Write a minimum of 250 words about your encounter with the mothman. At the end, the only things left behind are your memories and a mothman plushie.

If you roll a 1: You see the mothman for what he is! An omen of death and destruction, a harbinger of some terrible doom. Can you prevent it? What do you do?
If you roll a 2: You know that the mothman is trying to warn you. Like a prophet, you are tasked with relaying the message to others. Can you do it? What's the mothman trying to warn you of?
If you roll a 3: You can't understand anything the mothman is saying. The only sound you hear is the fluttering of wings and the buzzing. The only thing you can do is try to guess why he's here. Is he warning you or trying to save you?

Slurpy found himself dreaming. It wasn't his usual sort of happy dream, it was...terrible Everything around him was filled with death and decay. There were the bodies of crows lying on the ground. There were skeletal rib cages of other things strewen everywhere. The trees had wide open arms reachign toward the heaven in supplication for help that did not and would nto come. They were skeletal. Everything was..

Carefully, he took in his surroundeings. To his left was a bridge surrounded by billowing clouds of fog. He'd never seen so much fog in his life. It was so thick that it looked like smoke....was it smoke? He didn't know why, but he felt pulled that way as though by an invislble string.

As he got closer, an otherwordly being appeared. It had great thin wings that flapped like the rustling of paper and red eyes. The most terrifying red eyes he'd ever seen. There seemed to be some kind of intensity there. A low buzzing fills his ears as he stands there. What was that?

Then Slurpy realized it was coming from the being. Goosebumps popped up along his skin and suddenly the tentacles on his feet woudln't unsuction from the ground. He was stuck here, to listen to....that. His heart rate accelerated. There was a fever pitch to the sound and it seemed somehow threatening. It kept moving it's wings as though it was agitated.

Slurpy knew it for it was, some type of malevolence. A warning of something to come, something that perhaps might be inevitable. He didn't know, but it wasn't good. It wasn't good at all. He had this small sick feeling in his stomach. Images flashed in his mind, more harrowing things than he had ever thought.

Pretty soon, Slurpy felt himself coughing up bile. The things he had seen....They had to have been from that creature right. Could he stop them? A vast and terrible famine. All the rivers would dry up. He could warn others, but they might think him insane. He could store stuff on his own but that wouldn't be enough. Maybe he could start talking about dissaster precaution and prevention instead of only worrying about items and good after it was too late. What if he got it started now? What if, he talked others into preparing for several possible what ifs? Then if it came they'd be ready and if it didn't they wouldn't think he was some crazy doomsayer. It paid to be prepared right? There wasn't any harm in that. He didn't even have to tell them about this dream he'd awoken from retching. He could just say that he saw an opportunity for better preparing and preventng. Would that be enough? Would anyone listen> He had to try at least. ff it came down to t, he could tell about his dream....but he wanted to start with the rational reasons it made sense to do this rather than going straight to I had this insane dream or feeling. He wanted the otheres to take him seriously. He was going to have to make a serious plan.

Helms Valena and Etoile

User Image

You're out walking when you stumble over something. When you pick it up, you realize it's a helm of a Valkyrie. Obviously, you try that on. Write a minimum of 250 words about what happens when you do.

If you roll a 1: You are transported back into the last battle the Valkyrie who owned this helm fought in. What happens? How does it feel watching and thinking while in someone else's memories? Do you survive?
If you roll a 2: You are taken into the memories of a Valkyrie sitting in a long house right before battle. But you find that you can move and talk as though it's you. What do you say? How do you prepare?
If you roll a 3: You are transported into the body of an injured and lost Valkyrie. Do you panic? Do you find your way home? (You do not have any breed healing powers as the Valkyrie you're in does not).

Valena Martell felt an aura coming from something. She kept walking toward it until she stumbled on a half-buried valkyrie helm. It should have been tarnished and old, rusty at the least. It was not though. It looked pristine as though someone had just taken it off and set it down minutes ago. The aura kept radiating off of it., stronger than ever. Valena Martel, the Red Vision, took the helm and placed it on her head. She was transported to a dense forest. The first thing she felt was blinding pain in her leg and chest.

Valena could hear the distant sound of battle, but only vaguely. Her ears were ringing and there was blood dripping from one of them. She thought she might have ruptured her eardrum. She took further assessment of herself. Her breathing was heavy, the gash in her leg was gushing blood, and the pain in her chest she thought was just the beginning of panic rather than a physical wound.

The first thing she had to do was something with her leg, it couldn't just keep bleeding like this. Taking a leather thong from her hair, she wrapped it above the wound and tightened it as much as was possible to the point of pain. It had to stop bleeding. The pain almost made her pass out, but the bleeding did slow. She pushed the panic down in her chest. It would be almost impossible to use her hearing to figure out where the rest of her clan was. Everything was dull and muffled in sound.

Trying to walk, Valena found it impossible to put any weight on her leg at all without almost collapsing. She looked around trying to follow her own footsteps back, but it was hard to see nay footprints at all in this forest. The ground was too dense with leaves to be able to see anything.

Up ahead, she saw an unnatural mark on a tree. It had to have been made by a weapon, instead of something organic like an antler. It was the best clue she had. She hobbled along as far as she could, pain shooting throug her at every step. It was snowing out, but she was sweating. This was dangerous. If the sweat froze to her skin she'd be in trouble since she didn't have any way to get warm.

That's when she found the discarded knife and a few splatters of blood. Grabbing up the knife she helt it in her teeth, determining it must have been one she had dropped on the way here. If it was someone else's she'd need to defend herself. But it felt like it probably was her, not that she could say why she thought it was hers. It just felt right. It was another hundred yards or so untils he found the scene of a small battle and the body of what she guessed must have been her foe. She glanced around and followed the path through the trees to where she thought the battle sounded closer, back to where her people were.

Skaði Banamaðr had been walking home to join Valena around the fire for a meal when she had tripped over something. Looking closer, she saw that it was some kind of helm. Could it be? This looked like one of the legendary valkyrie helms she'd always heard. of. Unable to resist a childhood dream of hers, Skaði Banamaðr pulled the helm on to her head. When she tugged it down everything went black for a few moments then there was a slow blink that brought everything into focus then back out. Finally, her vision cleared only it wasn't her vision. She was someone else. Skaði Banamaðr could feel the heaviness of wings at her back and hear the gentle clank of armor on her body and on those around her. Everyone was in low urgent conversations and there was a buzz of inevitability in the air. Food was being passed around and consumed. Someone passed her a bowl of stew and she felt her mouth move to say thanks. It was her mouth but not her mouth. She was in another body, another vessel seeing a memory. She supposed that there was some purpose to this that there was something here she needed to learn or to witness. There had to be something about today.

The chatter kept on around her and then Skaði Banamaðr could not even hear the voice of the body she was in because of what she was seeing. There was a mare with hair so white it was nearly blinding. Her skin was red but covered in spots that closley resembled freckles. But it was her laugh that had caught her attention. It was familiar.

"What fortunes do we have today Railena?" Someone asked the mare who'd caught her attention.

"The battle will be a long one," Railena spoke softly. "There will be much blood and loss, but the iron wing shall descend into the madness and all will be saved. We will be victorious this day." The table cheered loudly, but her hesitating voice was still heard. "But not all who sit here shall greet the dawn. We shall meet again in the feast halls of Valhalla." The silence elongated for a moment before there was boastful cheering about what would come in the battle. Railena was smiling with them all. She stayed awhile longer before getting up to leave the hall. Skaði Banamaðr could not help but follow her. The sound of her voice was uncanny. The way she spoke and walked....

She met Railena upon the hill outside while the sun began it's descent. It would be dark in an hour or two. "I knew you'd come," Railena said. "You have to tell her to take care of her gift."

Skaði Banamaðr felt herself replying, "What gift?"

Then Railena turned and looked her straight in the eye Skadi, Mother's Band you must protect Valena's gift at all cost. Her gift is mine too. Now go to her and keep her. Wait for the time to come when you shall be her sword and shield."

Before Skaði Banamaðr could answer, Railena touched her forehead and she felt herlself falling away back into her own body.

Usekh Piper and Ilya
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Maybe this is a dream, or maybe it's real. Either way, you've been tasked to enter the pyramid/tomb before you and bring back a usekh. Usekhs were favored by the elite and often made with precious jewels. This is believed to be the tomb of the high dignitary Akhethetep, who was second only to the king.

Write a minimum of 250 words about how your adventure goes while using the prompt rolled by the dice.

If you roll a 1: After you walk a few feet into the tomb, you fall through the floor to find a secret room.
If you roll a 2: You're pretty deep into the tomb, when suddenly your torch goes out. When you try your flashlight, it doesn't work either, even though it's brand new. A gust of wind blows across your neck.
If you roll a 3: You find out that tombs are never as airtight as they seem when the room you're in starts to fill with flesh-devouring scarabs.

Piper couldn't pass up the chance to look for the pyramid housing the remains and treasures of Akhethetep. Rumor had it that not far from where she was located now was a the final resting place of Akhethelep and maybe the king he had served. In the tomb there was supposed to be a usekh, a type of collar worn by royalty native to the desert sands. The collar was normally made of gold, then studden with gems. Usually garnet or rubies for the red, sapphires or lapis lazuli for blue, and emerald sometimes even peridot for green. Usually there were no other kinds of gems in a usekh as red, blue and green were the standard lucky colors. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember why they were lucky....She'd have to look that up later.

The pyramid loomed before her and she stood there in awe in the shadow of it. She was finally getting a brief respite from the heat. After a few minutes of open-mouthed staring, she found what looked to be a door a few feet above the sand. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to get to it or---

OOOFH

Piper felt all the air rush out of her lungs, her stomach feeling like it jumped up in her throat until she landed in a heap. For a few minutes all she could do was breathe through it, trying to work air iinto her lungs. Taking a mental assessment of herself, she came to the conclusion that though she was very sore she wasn't actually injured. At least nothing broken, though she could dhave a concussion.

Gingerly she got up and tested her weight on each of her limbs. She hobbled a little, but she was okay. She'd actually survived a fall into-- she looked around. Was this a part of the actual pyramid? And why was it situated below the door? Someone had a sick sense of humor.

Piper found herslf in a series of inter-connected rooms. The air was very dry. She could tell that this place hadn't been opened in years. Carefully, she wound her way through the rooms. Most of them were conspiciously empty.. Before she could even thnk more on it she came into a small room covered in dust. At the far end was a box covered in dust and cobwebs. She knew that this had to be where the legendry usekh was It had to be.

She could feel her heart rate spiking and it felt like she was gliding to the box. It was like the world was holding it's breath. Carefully, oh so very carefully, she opend the box. She let out a gush of air. There laying in the open box was no usekh, just a picee of paper carefully laid out as if taunting. It simply said, "Better luck next time." She couldn't beleve it someone had made it here before her, a long long time before her by the look of this place. That was why the rooms seemed sparse, because they were. They had been picked over already.

Scorpians'

ou've gone treasure hunting in the vast desert.

Ygritte Amachi-Tyrell was going through the deser to visit with her mother and grandmother. It had been a long time coming. She had left two years ago and had only sent brief letters back. It wasn't that she hadn't wanted to visit them but rather that life kind of got in the way. She was making a life with Orin. She hadn't thought that she could ever love anyone the way she loved him, but she'd been wrong. Loving him had come easier than breathing. It had still been unexpected though when she realized, alone in the desert on the way to her mother and grandmother that she had new little lives growing within her.

She couldn't tell them not before Orin. Especially not until she could figure out exactly how she was feeling. This had been so unexpected. Ygritte of course knew how it had happened and possibly even when--there had been this summer storm--but she still hadn't quite accepted that she was going to be a mother. She had really only just gotten the hang of taking care of herself.

Since Ygritte hadn't parsed out her feelings yet, she decided to take a small detour to go on a treasure hunt. Up ahead there was srumored to be a hidden entrance to some kind of treasure vault. No one had ever found it though and she didn't expect to find it either but she needed a little more time before she saw her family again.

It wasn't that she wasn't happy about these babies, rather that she was scared. She hated being scared and never owned up to the fact if she could get away with it She was touch and resourceful, she didn't need anyone especially a stallion thinking of her as some silly little mare who lost her head if she showed fear.

A sandstorm blew in unexpectedly forcing Ygritte to hunker down with scarves coverng her face as she waited the worst of t out alone with her thoughts.

***

Finally, the storm was over. Sand was everywhere and she felt antsy with fear about this new feauture and antsy because sand was EVERYWHERE.

Up ahead, she saw what looked like a half buried door. Excited taht this might actually the legend she'd always heard of (and a respite from her current train of thought) she dug the last foot few inches of sand far enough away from the door to keep it from closing. She'd even gone so far as to stick an extra dagger into the sand to keep the door from closing.

But it didn't matter. She wasn't tht far in the door when a malevolent wind slammed it shut. Though she tried and tried, she couldn't open the door.. There was no sign of the dagger as if it was never there.

When she turned aroudn though, she was looking into the terrifying tail of a scorpion. It was almost eye level with her in that regard. She fled through rooms without actually seing any of it. She couldn't keep outrunning it forever. She had to save herself and the lives growing within her. Ygritte pushed to get far enough ahead to round a corner before the beast came. Shrinking, she fluttered behind a vase and hid. She knew then it was okay to be afraidd. It was even okay to run sometimes that's how you figured stuff out. Squeezing through the crumbling mortar she worked on getting back out to the sun

Everything you try to do goes wrong, often in hilarious ways

Javor Bolton, Lord of Havoc, was feeling quiet inept and useless. It seemed as though every dastardly evil plan he had was destined to go wrong. He was not a superstitious person, but it had all happened after he had found that stupid dagger. He had known that the energy felt off when he picked it up- not that he believed in energy or vibes. That f-

He fell flat on his face for what had to be the sixth time today. His nose was spewing blood. Letting out a growl, he tried to staunch the blood. After a few minutes he found that this was another hopeless endevour. What else could go wrong with this day?

Unfortunately that question was soon answered in the form of hail. After he'd been hit mercilessly in the head as he sought cover, the first place only withstood the hal for a minute. Having to run again, he found himsel in a small room with no windows. It was just as good a place as any to sit out a hail storm. At least it was safer than the last place. It wasn[t going to fa--

He feel heavily through the floor and landed badly on his left leg. Javor grimaced on the floor in pain. He wasn't the one usually being victmized, he was more likely to be doing the victimizing. He didn't know what to make of this right now.. Struggling, he made it to his feet but his left leg could not bear any weight. It felt broken. Hell it looked broken. He was going to have to seek out someone who was willing to heal him if there even was such a someone.

Maybe if he got rid of this dagger, his fortunes ouwld change. Not that he believed in fortunes. He didn't believe in a lot of things that were seemingly happening to him today. He dug a hole and buried the daggar, covering with with all kind of debris.

Javor was in a full blown sweat when he made it out of the hole. His leg was throbbing in time with his heart. He headed north for a mile, then angled himself toward a tree to rest.

It couldn't be. How in the hell! That could not possibly be the dagger. He'd buried it underground in a hole. Daggers didn't just get up and walk What was happening?

"It follows you," the cloak figure said in a raspy voice. "It is the stench, the taint of every bad thng you have ever done."

"Fine, make it go away."

"One cannot make it go away."

"Why not?"

"You know why."

"I assure you I don't," he was getting irritated.

"Then I guess it shall follow you with it's ill will for the rest of your life," the figure laughed softly.

"That's not funny."

:"Ohh it is from where I'm standing." The figure turned to go.

"Wait!"

She turned her head over her shoulder, "Get used to it staying with you and cursing you day and night. It wll not leave until you give it what it asks for." She walked away and left him without another word.
