Hello, everyone. In this Filler, I plan to give the Mighty Math Series from Edmark the Scoring Measurement Treatment as the Scoring System differs from Game to Game. The Mighty Math Series (All 6 Discs) is another Popular Edmark Series next to Thinkin Things
Then combine them for a real result as the First 4 Discs are in 2 sets per 2 discs as they're aimed for Children while Discs 5 & 6: Cosmic Geometry & Astro Algebra are aimed toward Early Teens to Adult.
While its possible to run the Mighty Math Series on Early Windows NT OS, they're more stable on Windows 9x OS and you'll also need to use 256 Colors to run the games as they were designed to run on that.
This way, you can understand what the optimization scores mean for the actual games when you play them and how you can set the levels. For the scoring, I'll either mention the Maximum/Minimum scores, as I have to play each of the games to find out.
Mighty Math Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Disc 1: Carnival Countdown
First is Carnival Countdown, as the scoring system in most Edmark Games work differently than you may think since they have a slider bar that's access from each activity or from the Admin being the Adult Options by means of the CTRL-ALT-A Hotkey.
While the game does not have an indicator for right or Wrong Answers. The Growth Slider has 4 Colored Difficulties where if a player makes enough mistakes, its progress is NOT counted against them but rather, removes wrong answers until the correct answers are selectable, NOT to give them the right answer directly. Because you WANT a player to enter the answer even when the game the answers for and NOT to automatically answer it for them and move on. Otherwise, children who play the Mighty Math or Thinkin Things Games back in the 1990s stop paying attention and don't learn anything from them.
For the Growth Sliders chart, each has a color set and Letter Code Starting from A to Beginner to Z being Advanced. Mighty Math Disc 1-4 has an example where the its score reaches a certain total before the Final Skill called Review.
So the idea for this score calculation is to complete as many Skill Levels in each activity as possible to see what high score that a person can end up with out of the Total Possible Points that the game has to offer, rather than relying on skill alone
So because of the Explore mode in Edmark's games, it feels more like Software Toys in a way while the Q&A mode, is for score attack runs to determine a player's best score, accuracy, rating and rank without penalties that count against the player's progress. In other words, Edmark's methods as a Software Toy and Critical Thinking Skills. The way that's done is when wrong answers are eliminated to narrow down the possible outcomes until the correct answer remains without the game solving the problem for the player and skipping ahead to the next problem.
Overall, in other Educational Software Companies such as The Learning Company, ABC Electronic Arts, Knowledge Adventure, etc, a wrong answer does count against the player's score while Edmark does not most of the time.
Another factor behind this is that clicking on the characters that give clues multiple times would not only repeat the problem but also give hints to help narrow down the possible answers.
However, if at any point a player in the Mighty Math and Thinkin Things Series find that the game's unstable or they think that a Operation Error happens that will cause the game to crash, they can take the points they earned and drop out of said Edmark game.
= Carnival Countdown Growth Slider Bar Chart Carnival Cars Total = 13 Points Easy = 4 Points Normal = 4 Points Hard = 4 Points Hardest = 2 Points
Snap Clowns Total = 26 Points Easy = 8 Points Normal = 8 Points Hard = 5 Points Hardest = 5 Points
Giggle Factory Total = 23 Points Easy = 8 Points Normal = 8 Points Hard = 4 Points Hardest = 3 Points
Pattern Block Roundup Total = 26 Points Easy = 8 Points Normal = 8 Points Hard = 5 Points Hardest = 5 Points
Bubble Band = 25 Points Easy = 8 Points Normal = 8 Points Hard = 4 Points Hardest = 5 Points
Total Possible Points For Carnival Countdown: 113 Points
NOTE: Carnival Countdown is known to crash on the Bubble Band in later questions on Windows NT with True Color. If that happens. Take a Screenshot of the Progress of the Current Growth Slider along with the Topic and switch to a Windows 9x 256 Color Virtual Machine. If that still doesn't work play a question. Pass it, save and exit then restart.
This will take longer to complete the activity its better than backtracking after the game crashes.
It also helps to sync the clicks on the mouse button when using the bubble band to add.
So as a last resort, a player can drop out of Carnival Countdown after getting a good score to avoid game crashes.

2/3s of the Mighty Math Series are done and now the Real challenge begins on Discs 5-6
Mighty Math 7th to 10th Grade Disc 5: Cosmic Geometry
Discs 5-6 of Mighty Math is where things get complicated as they go for a Sci-Fi Theme. The Reason being is that most educational software are aimed toward children, but the last two games: Cosmic Geometry & Astro Algebra, are aimed toward from Early to Mid Teens as even at adulthood, the math problems can be challenging and some are impossible without the use of a calculator to determine Fractions, Decimals & Whole Numbers.
Mighty Math 7th to 10th Grade Disc 6: Astro Algebra
Disc 6 of Mighty Math is Astro Algebra as its the last game in the Mighty Math Series. The Grow Slider works differently than the previous Mighty Math Discs as the game has a story mode with Campaigns the player must complete. Since completing campaigns earns the player with a medal of honor and trophy.
Also given the game's Storyline as the Player works their way in the Algebra Centauri Ship Ranking, I will be mentioning those as well under a Game Specific Rank too. One thing to note about this game that it plays on Sheepshaver (Mac OS 9) & 86Box (Windows 9x) but it will NOT work on VirtualBox running Windows NT, nor will it work on Modern System Base PCs.
