There was only one thing capable of dragging Thane immediately from his studies and that was his Sire. The letter slid across a floor scribbled with runes waiting to be deciphered towards the young vampire. Spying his master’s familiar writing Thane snatched it up before it could even come to a stop, standing at the same time in one fluid motion. He stared reverently down at the letter, taking his time in opening it. When he did, he scanned the contents quickly and gave the briefest nod of his head.

Leaving his work behind without a second thought, Thane left his candlelit room and made his way up towards Amadeo’s chambers. Late? If Thane was still capable of such mortal gestures he would have scoffed. He was very nearly running he was so eager… and was extremely displeased to find that someone had arrived before him. He fixed the female was a cold stare and pushed forward, adding his own firm knock upon the door.

No movement could be heard from within the large office, no stirring of papers as a book page was turned nor the scrape of chair legs to announce the occupants rise from his desk. Amadeo was still seated, waiting patiently and in an almost meditative state which was only broken as he gave a wave of his paw and the giant doors unlocked. It would have been a neat trick except for the fact that it was spirits doing his bidding. The familiar little female Kat swung the lock open and pulled the doors inward, stepping back into the shadows to vanish, it seemed today was no time for games. The fireplace roared ferociously in its stone prison as though slighted by the thought that it could not devour the rest of its surroundings. Amadeo Giovanni sat, paws folded neatly in a pyramid just under his lower lip and his fierce eyes trained on the two figures at his door. Perfect.

Raising slowly, his gestures fluid and almost unnatural, yet the most curious of these wasn’t his movements so much as his aura, it had changed dramatically and though Knuvxy may not have been able to pick it up aside from a strong sense that he was in control, Thane would be able to sense it easily. Amadeo had grown in power since the last they had met, tremendously. “Welcome Familia.” The male greeted, his voice warm to their presence as it was to all family members. “Please, do come in and take a seat, Knuvxy.” His paws gestured at the single chair placed strategically before the large, beautifully lacquered desk.

“Thane..” His eyes flickered to a spot between the desk and the giant fireplace, not dismissively but recognizing his higher standing within the family. This was hardly a job interview. He wouldn’t speak until both were seated; it was bad business to rush your agenda upon those you were proposing it to. The mind needed to settle into a comfortable state first. This show wasn’t so much for Thane as it was for Knuvxy indicated by his positioning of the male. Tonight was a night for furthering agendas, not only theirs but certainly his own as well.

As the door opened, Thane did not give the young mortal another glance. He stepped forward into the room and then stopped, as if a wall had suddenly appeared in front of him. He blinked and a hint of a smile appeared on his lips, but was quickly lost as he regained composure. Amadeo had grown stronger. Impressively so. It was intoxicating. Thane was immensely pleased. His devotion was absolute and anything that benefited Amadeo and thus the family was to be celebrated. “Sir.” He instantly bent into a more than respectful bow to his Sire and straightened again in one smooth movement.

He was curious as to why he had been summoned but this was no time to ask, everything would be explained in due time. So he simply nodded his head and moved towards the indicated position. Thane felt nothing of the fire’s heat at his back, but he was aware of the way it crackled and burned. It devoured all and if he dared touch it, it would gladly take him as well. But none of his thoughts showed on his face. His golden gaze rested squarely upon Amadeo, waiting, watchful, drinking in the powerful aura that rolled off the much older vampire.

The ancient vampire considered the two Kats before him with quite depth. He was unmoving and in all honesty unnervingly solid. His head inclined politely in a reply to Thane’s respectful mannerism. At least he understood how things worked. He didn’t doubt Thane’s intelligence nor did he doubt that the younger Vampire was endlessly clever, reliable and aware which was only a few of the many reasons for this meeting. His gaze was trained on Knuvxy again momentarily before he waved a paw and the spirits surrounded her. Keeping her in an oblivious state, almost suspended in time, so she would not be aware of what happened next. To her it looked and sounded as though Amadeo and Thane were waiting on her to take her seat, the spirits wove an intricate tapestry of visual trickery. Amadeo stood silently, pushing the chair back from his desk with little to no effort. He made his way to the fireplace and rested and arm upon the mantle, his intense gaze staring deeply into the flames, as though divining some truth from their depths. “I have watched your progress with much delight, Thane.” He began his voice calm and cold. “You have contributed greatly to the Giovanni and the Council has decided to grant you more power with my blessing.”

His eyes lifted to his childer, face expressionless as he continued. “You will be allowed more of my vitae and as you drink it your power will grow tremendously but with this power you will also be taking on more responsibility which will begin with your embrace of this family member. Do you accept?” He would respect Thane’s choice either way. As long as Thane continued down the road he was headed Amadeo would continue to nurture his standing in the family. “Do not take this gesture as an act made from favoritism, as my childer many may assume this is the reason but it is far from truth. I do not favor my childer as some infantilism practitioners may.” The flames danced in their bed, restless and wild and ready to destroy everything they touched should their desires be granted.
