Agreed. When character justice goes down the toilet, the whole shebang is bound to follow. I read this story once - it was McBeckett, I confess - where the characters were spot on. Accordingly, the story was great, even if the spelling and grammar were slightly askew. lol

see when i do the odd fanfic i watch episodes that feature mostly that character before and after i write to make sure i get the character styles as close as possible

Me too. Kittyfox is right - if the characters are right, the whole thing is likely to be good. Won't help with the unfortunate spelling and grammar, though.

Who do you think is the hardest to get right? I always seem to have a hard time with Teyla, for some reason, though I find McKay easy. You?

Sheppard is easiest for me to write for, though I'm basing this argument on the one SGA story I've written so far. McKay is a little bit harder. I have a wee secret when it comes to writing for him, though, and it's not the sort that can be passed along easily. whee

Damn! Sheppard for me is so-so. I get him right most of the time. When I don't, I have to go back and re-write the whole damn story.....
