I could hardly sleep yesterday, knowing that everything that I've done for the past 100 hours pretty much amount to nothing. I felt like someone who finished a week long marathon, only to find out that there's no finish line because the race was held last month.
As soon as I reached the office, I was notified that there's basically no hope of getting a recent source code for zOMG back. Our operations engineer joined 2 years ago, and the hard drive crash happened even before he joined, and there's simply no information on what even happened.
On brighter note, we did have a collection of the compiled binary code for every version. Now that I know everything there is to know about the code base, it only took a few hours to get everything working with the new compiled code instead of what I compiled.
I spent last week learning to compile the server and flash code with hopes that I can actually make changes to the game, but for now, that effort is for nothing. The silver lining here is that the core game is very much intact, and all zOMG fans should be able to enjoy it as early as next week.
So finally I have the version of zOMG with DMS, broadwalk, and all other latest changes available. What's left is to see if I can adjust gold grant, and fix a bunch of bugs such as items not showing up in the in-game store.
Besides fixing the bugs, I'm gonna take a break, start playing FF15 over the weekend, let my wrist recover, and find the energy to jump back into coding.
