Melissa spent all day in her room. She rocked back and forth on her bad, she was long past crying. Her eyes dropped tiredly. She checked the time, only 4:30. Becky would be coming over soon. Star was sleeping on the edge of her bed. The door bell rang. It must be Becky. She heard her dad open the door, footsteps headed downstairs. Her door opened and Becky stepped in and walked over to her. "What happened? And where is Matt? He normally answers the door" She said. Melissa looks up at her "Matt is that happened" she replied. "What did he do this time?" Beky asked, Matt played alot to pranks and often got in trouble for it. "It was his last time. He's gone" Melissa said, sitting on her bad. Becky gasped "I feel so sorry for you! When you didn't go to school i thought you were sick, something minor. But this is major!" "Becky, I don't think he died. I tihkn he ran away. And I'm goign to find him." Melissa said "Will you come with me?" Becky stared at her in amazemet "Your...going after him? What..what if you disappear also?" she said. "Are you coming with em or not?" Melissa said. "Sorry, but no. Not this time" Becky said and added "You'll have to go alone." Melissa froned sadly. She didn't trust anyone else to go with her, so she'd have to go alone. "Fine, but you can't tell anyone about his death and me running after him" she said, standing up. "Melissa, you can't be serous, I mean-" Beckly said but Melissa silenced her "You can't stop me." "WHen are you going?" Becky asked. Melissa grabed her backpack "Right now" she said, walking away from her. She sneeked upstair and packed alot of food, grabed a small, easy to pack sleeping bag. She put on her light weight jacket and went back ot her room, to pack more. She put a notebook with two pens in. She would wirte about everything that happened, so she would never forget her adventure. Becky sat on her bed, watching her. She took a flashlight and up it in her backpack. She looked around the room, looking for anything else to bring. She looked through the stuff on her desk and grabed a first aid kit. She stuffed a couple pairs of clothes and sliped on her shoes. Besky watched her. "Bye" Melissa said and walked out of the door. Becky watched her leave and sighed. Melissa walked out the back door and drove her car to the lake. She grabed her backpack and got out of the car. She payed a loan for a motor boat and in the small boat, when away in the large lake. Why it was called a lake in unknown. It was really a ocean, but everyone called it the lake. Why everyone called it that was another puzzle to Melissa.
