Going places is fun. What's the best part of traveling for you? What's the worst part? What do you do to make travel more enjoyable?
I love traveling especially by airplane! If you're traveling with friends you get to talk about your upcoming trip or just random stuff in person. Or there's that hand held gaming system with a game or two that you can give your undivided attention to. There's always the classic book or newspaper (especially if it's a different city then mine, I get to find out what news is important there!), the LibraryThing blog mentions the plane they were on was like a Harry Potter study hall! I can also watch planes taking off and landing for hours (and have). Some airports have really cool art and other exhibitions going on. Airports are also an opportune time to people watch ninja . Parents with their children going to see family or on an adventure, the business person that won't look up from their laptop, people from other countries and even the occasional celebrity (I saw Andre the Giant in a Detroit airport, the man was HUGE!). When actually on the plane, your waister might even help strike up a conversation with the person the next seat over. I used to do counted cross stitch and that would ALWAYS seem to intrigue people (I have to find a way to cut string without scissors, then I can start doing it on planes again). If I'm lucky I'll be next to a window seat. If it's a short flight, I can play the "I think I know about where we are!" game, if not it's hours of looking over a patchwork of farms and cities, even at nigh you can see the lights! My Dad works for an airlines, which meant that I got cheap tickets on some flights (at one point, no more, alas), so I've even traveled from San Francisco via St. Louis to get to LA. Once, to use up a pair of 'special' tickets he had received somehow (1st class, yeah!) we flew to New York, just to turn around and fly back after about an hour and a half in the airport. I just love flying! xd
The difficult part is if your plane gets canceled, like all the ones from SJC did on the day we were fly out to AX this year. That wasn't very pretty, since ALL the planes going to our destination were canceled, DOH! That was a frantic reworking to fly out of SFO instead. Layovers aren't great either or sitting out on a runway while they try and find a part to fix something random (better than the alternative though). They're not too terrible, unless you do have some sort of pressing matter at the place where you're going, then it can become a nail bitting experience, the waiting.
Darn, this entry really makes me want to go on a flight now! heart
With the airport in sight of our office, I watch the planes take off from SJC and land over Coleman some times for hours. It so distracts me.
... wait... You flew out of SJC? O_O
I fly out of SJC....
now that's cool. xd

lol, that is cool!
I grew up watching planes take off and landing at SFO out our front window. If the wind changed we'd get an even better view. It's memorizing. I miss that a lot, actually.
