Jakobos Weekly Writer Weekly Writer: Week 33 Pandora's Box Music / Makes the People / Come Together Those Idle Gaps iPod Potpourri Start up iTunes / WinAMP / BSPlayer / MP3 Device of choice on random. Listen while you read this journal entry. When it's done, take the song it finished on (this way you can't "cheat" and start on a good song). With this song, answer the following: How did it end up in your music collection? Do you like the song? What do you think the song is about? Go to pandora (link) and put the song/artist in and let it find a recommendation for you. (Second series of questions, haha this is a long one!) How accurate was the selection (do you think it was similar at all to what you were listening to)? Do you like what it picked out? Do you think computers can ever accurately predict something like your tastes in music? Toy-box: I Believe In You is what I ended up on. It wandered it's way into my collection because of the AMV Tarzan and Su that I saw at Fanime 2002. I became obsesed with finding the CD that had the song used for the video, Tarzan and Jane. It was impossible to find, driving me NUTS! Even Streetlight didn't have it! So one of my best friends found a copy and gave it to his girlfriend. I was LIVID! So SHE made me a copy and there it rests in my computer. Yes, I do like the song, it's kind of more mellow than what I've been listening to lately, but it still holds up. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the song is about people believing in each other. Really sweet engrish lyrics (the members of Toy-Box are Danish, most of the lyrics are spot on, but some of them make you go 'Huh?') like "I’m sending a thought/I have sealed with a kiss" makes my heart go 'Squee!' Pandora gave me Emilie Simon Flowers, because it doesn't have Toy-Box as an artist (Which made me feel better, since I thought I'd have them listed in my stations, then I remembered that I'd gone down this road before), but as a song done by Sheila E.. Ha! Toy-Box, elusive, even now, how you taunt me! Obviously not what I was looking for, but probably not Pandora's fault. As a general rule, Pandora is pretty darn good at predicting and introducing me to music I like.
