I never really realized how horrible his death was until I started reading about it and I saw the before and after pictures that I realized the impact of the his death and how serious it was.
I can't see why 24 and 36 year old men would harm an innocent 14 year old boy just for allegedly whistling at a married white women.
Even though this happened roughly 50 years ago, I can't see how you could justify killing a young boy with that, even if he was black and whistled at a white women.
All of the articles I have read state that the only way his body was identified was from the ring on his ring finger that his mother gave him the day before he left to stay with his great uncle in Money, Mississippi.
All the articles also state he was beaten, shot, and had his eye gouged out before having a cotton gin fan tied around his neck and tossed into a river after the murder.
His body wasn't found until 3 days later by fisherman, when his mother saw how brutal his death had been, she ordered to have an open casket so everyone could see how senselessly violent his murder had been.
I wouldn't believe that it was the same boy unless I had read the articles.
This happened 50 years ago and still racism exists even though it usually doesn't take such a violent form today.
The closest and most recent incident like this could be the Jena 6 in Jena, Louisana.
I don't have anymore room to type but it shows that even after all that Martin Luther King Jr. did for the African American people nearly 40 years ago, racisms exists still to this day.
