Sophie and Cid silently walked toward the eastern edge of town. Their first mark was from a young couple that had just moved into town. They gave no discription of the mark but said it was urgent. "You shouldn't get discouraged.... He does have feelings.... He just hates to show them." Sophie nodded but said nothing. They reached the house and saw it engulfed by vines. "I think that may be the problem...." Sophie looked at the vines. "Is this even a Demon problem?" Cid ripped one of the vines off of the house. "Lets find out." Cid tossed the fine on the ground and smashed it with his hammer. Something from the other side of the house screeched in pain. "Yeah... its a Demon problem....." A large demon made of twisted vines flew over the house and landed behind them. "Nuke that thing..." Sophie held out her hand but the Demon wrapped her up in one of its vines. "Pathetic humans..." Cid sighed. "This one talks too?" He slammed his hammer down on the vine and it released Sophie. The vines quickly reached and grabbed them both. "I'll squeeze the life out of you." Cid struggled. "Damn....." "HAHAHAH Cid you are getting old." Someone shot past the vines. The were cut in half and released Sophie and Cid. "Who are..." The figure wore a black cloak. "Don't ask.... That girl.... she can burn this thing...." Sophie nodded. "Do it." The figure jumped up and sliced the vine that shot towards Sophie as she held out her hand. "BLAZE!" The fire engulfed the Demon and turned it to ash. "How has Gale been?" Cid sighed. "You sure don't waste time...do you...?" Sophie stood next to Cid. "Who is he?" Cid sighed again. "Sophie.... don't mention anything about this mark to Gale or you won't be living with us." She was shocked but still nodded. "We aren't making much progress but we haven't quit...." "Gale is.... living... He has become a bit distant lately but it's just his memories...." The figure nodded. "I must get going now.. Ceru will be needing my help.. Try not to get into any more trouble..." He shot off into the forest. "Cid..." Sophie stood there confused. "Don't ask...." She sighed and they looked at the house. The vines had fallen off and died. "Lets go collect the reward." Sophie nodded.
