This story runs in sequence with Mercutio_453's latest journal entry. This is my part here: A cresent moon glistened in the black star studded sky. The sky was clear tonight; few clouds hung over the moon. Jewel patted Polly's smooth head and stood up. She walked to the velociraptor's side and hopped on its back. She leaned forward in a riding postion and whispered to Polly "Ride!" and tapped her heels into her side lightly. Pollyana let out a screech and turned sharply around. Jewel felt the strong muscles of her pet's legs move and tense as they picked up speed. Jewel was a drifter. Mainly because she had no idea where she came from..where she belonged..let alone where a girl with a pet velociraptor could belong. She had been many a places; seen many sights, many battles, many things etched into her memory forever. Some things pleasant like a sunset in the montains or the northren lights over you in a field of wild flowers. Yet some weren't pleasant..far from it and she hated recalling them. So many deaths of fammine, disease or bloody battles.. She closed her eyes and thought of this as she felt the rythmn of Pollyana's step and the cold wind rustle her golden locks. She steered Polly left and right, back to the castle. (see Mercutio_453's journal) Jewel rode Pollyana up to the entrance of the castle. She noticed Samuel sitting high up on the building and waved a hand as a friendly gesture. She then hopped off Polly's back and spoke to her saying "Now don't go far; you may wonder around but not too far." then turned to enter the castle. ~ Jewel scurried up the stairs and corridoors heading to Mercutio's office. She felt...happy strangely enough. She smiled to her self. She hoped that Mercutio would be there to greet her. Finally she arrived at the door and turned the knob. She pushed the door open carefully and stood in the door way. Immediate shock flushed over her as she saw the scene before her; blood was everywhere. A strange man was here and he..wasn't human. Mercutio's pistols were lying on the floor as well as himself..but he didnt look to be his normal self. Something was wrong."Oh..my..." she said in a shocked slow soft voice. Her eyes were wide and she stood motionless. The door hung open. The strange man turned to look at her. A rare wave of fear spread slowly down her spine. He was a demon. She took an uneasy step backwards, her eyes still wide in terror. Sheer panic. This wasn't right; this man..this thing was a demon; not human like herself. It had been so long since she had delt with one and she had come to think their kind had ceased to bother her. Her eyes darted to Meructio lying on the floor; he was changing; changing to the very thing she saw kill millions; saw slaughter her only friends. "No! No! NO!" she screamed in her head as her eyes darted franticly around the room; searching for some answer. He; the one she had now held precious; the one that could calm her; the one she stopped her travel for; was the thing she hated, feared and hunted. She turned quickly on her heals and ran. Her hat flew off her head and setteled in the hallyway floor. She didn't go back to retrieve it. She ran and ran. Stumbling along the way her feet did for she wa still in a mix of shock, fear, disbelief and other emotions. Tears streamed down her face but she didn't bother to wipe them away. She turned a corner too sharp and fell but clumsily got back up and ran. Why did he have to be not a human like she was? Let alone why a demon? She rammed through the door to the outside and there stood Pollyana still where she had left her. Jewel hastily jumped on her back. "RIDE HARD NOW!" she screamed and Polly roared and took off. As she rode she thought; still mortified of the past few minutes. Why didn't he tell her he was an unearthly being? Or was it the fact she was human and couldn't tell? Never the less, she couldn't believe she was associated with him in 'that' way..a demon..Her past with demons was a fretful one and not fairly pleasant either. They had caused her to be alone. She had sworn never to account on friendly terms with one of their kind thinking they were all evil. But could she have been wrong..? Surely Mercutio wasn't..evil..how could that be? But was he? How? Why? Pain poured through her mortal heart and she shut her eyes tightly and curled up on Polly's back. The answer she was seeking echoed in the walls of her mind but she didn't want to listen...She would have to leave Mercutio for obvious reasons. There was no way a human with her views could do what she wanted. She wanted to just go away and leave; return to the traveler and drifter she once was. She was far from the castle now. So far the plains surrounding the castle had faded into forests. Pollyana's reptilian feet clopped along the grass and came to a stop. Jewel went to dismount from her but fell off instead. She didn't move from where she fell. Her knees ached from where she fell in the hallways. She just laid there on the ground making no movement. Thousands of thoughts screamed and argued in her head...the whole castle; all her friends were probably just like him..how blind she was..A wind blew and then it was quite. The sun rose in the sky; a blood red sun rise.. She still lay on the grass; Pollyana sitting at her side. She cried herself to sleep; miserable, distraught, confused, and still in some fright. What would she do now? Where to go now? To start out again..just forget everything there..everything and..everyone. Jewel closed her eyes and let herself fall into a rough sleep.. Dreams tortured her throughout her uneasy and short sleep. The scene from the castle replayed in her head over an over..only worse. She awoke in a cold sweat. Why did this have to happen? Why oh why..she obviously hadn't slept long because the sun was still rising and the sky was still red. (see Mercutio_453's journal) Jewel's tired and distraught eyes opened under her blue glasses. Her eyes snapped open wide when she saw the two demon before her. She let out a strange irk from her mouth and scrambled backwards. She clumsily took to her feet and backed away as she watched them fight and spill blood. It was the two unearthily demons from before. Pollyana noticed her backing up and followed her at her side less frightened however and more oblivious to the events taking place. Jewel clumsily reached for her pistol and grasped it in her sweaty palm. Her arm held the gun beside her and her whole body tensed. Her past with demons was an unpleasant one that she despised and feared to recall. Battles she had with them; violent and to the death. Of course she had won them; some close others in her favor by far. However that was almost three years ago..never since them had she confronted one and this struck fear upon her. Then it happened. One of the demons surprised the other and slaughtered its enemy ruthlessly. Dark blood spilled everywhere. Pollyana let out a roar and Jewel's back touched the base of a tree. Her eyes widened with panic. She gripped the pistol in its holster. Who this demon was she didn't know..if it was Mercutio..he was far beyond her recongnition. "Come any closer to me and be dammed," she whispered under her breath. "Pollyana, heel girl." she commanded her pet and Polly stepped to her side making a croaking noise in her throat. The dinosaur dipped her long neck down then up slowly her mouth hanging open showing her many white fangs. Jewel watched the evil being turn to her and she held her gun up to eye level with one arm. She regained her senses to a small point and swallowed and firmed her gaze, furrowing her brow. However as she held her gun in front of her, she couldn't help but to look into her opponents eyes..they were so familiar. They held pain, saddness and so many other mixed emotions. She tried to stay strong and hold the pistol in the threatening manner. She swalloed, dipped her head and gritted her teeth. She held the gun tighter and put her fingure on the trigger. One bullet throguh the heart would kill. But she couldn't get away from the deep eyes; they haunted her; deep in her mind she knew who really stood before her. Someone she loved and cared for once. But this was her job. She shut her eyes tight and lowered her head. She dropped the gun on the ground. Polly let out a growl from her throat and stared a the dropped weapon. Jewel turned and stared at the ground. Jewel stood in silence. The sound of the pistol falling from her hand and hitting the ground echoed in her ears. She knew that was Mercutio standing behind her; only as something else. Something that she was sworn to hunt; to be against and deep down feared with all her heart. She clenched her teeth and fists. She had no idea which way to turn. Disgrace herself by not killing him but yet still 'be' with him or to kill him and keep her honor but loose him forever. She slumped down on the grass and sat in silence. A crystal tear rolled down her left cheek. She hated crying. She ripped off her glasses and stuffed her face in the palms of her hands. Her hair was musty and unorderly from her running and the dirt of the ground. She curled her knees up to her chest and continued to sit. In a sad situation she was..and she had no idea what to do or how to make the best of it. Polly stood motionless in the silence, head held high waiting to protect her master if anything happened. Dark clouds floated in the morning sky forboding bad weather to come.
