I yelped a little, unbuckiling the clspe on the seatbelt. People lived in those woods. My neighbors. My house was in there. And in front of me it was burning to the ground. There were no fire engines or people or anything.
"What are you doing?!?"
My Mom asked as I opened the door and went out. I stayed against the car, tring to keep from falling over in shock. The heat was unbearable and the sounds from the forest were wierd. Not only the cracks and pops of burning wood, but occasional yells were heard and rang through the forest. Next thing I knew my Mom was beside me, her cool hand on my shoulder.
"Fire"
I said feeebly still staring out.
"What are you talking about? Fire?"
"What?"
