“Daddy, Daddy! Will you please take me to the Sea Festival?” I was leaping for joy as my favorite day of the year, (except when Grandpappy comes to visit on Christmas,) had finally come! The Sea Festival was very special to my family. It was a day of dancing; eating and sports only publicly played on this day, also the most important part, the spouse picking. The spouse picking is where the father of a six year old girl or older to marry on her thirteenth birthday. It just so happens today is my sixth birthday and I did not know who my future lifelong partner would be.
“Baby Belle! Baby Belle, where are you?” It was my best friend Logan calling my name. We were both so excited about the spouse picking. We were now old enough to participate. Logan is nine years old; he was very fidgety at events like this. As the Sea Festival started we heard a voice coming from nowhere.
“Come all you young bachelors and bachelorettes, fathers too!” This was our moment. “If the fathers of the daughters choose a bachelor please,” continued the Voice.
My dad did the most outrageous thing I thought he would ever do. He marched right over to Logan and asked him if he would marry me. Logan surprisingly said yes. Logan and I were both very ecstatic about this. We always talked about what our life would be like if my daddy would choose him. We said when I turned thirteen we would move into a seaside cottage; have a dog; a daughter and a son. Now all of this would be coming true until…

My heart was racing. I was running from problematical death. I had two problems: one, people on the streets of New Mar was always stopping me and asking why I was running; two, the Thing was catching up to me because of number one. I ran all the way through New Mar to my house on the outskirts of town, until I ran into my mother.
