All adventures typically begin when someone does something incredibly stupid. This time, it was my turn. I had been doing some spurratic cleaning around the house, centering in on the kitchen and recyclables. My task then focused on the shopping bag cupboard, the one that pull our on an angle and hasn't been cleaned out since we started using it in May. Yeah, that one. So I emptied a garbage's worth of the bags out and tried to push the drawer back in, to find that a number of bags had fallen in behind it, and I could not close it properly. I shruged, since the screws and hinges had been painted over, and carried on about my day. By 9:30 that evening, it was driving me crazy. So I set about trying to clean it out.
I couldn't simply pull it out, and to have it open all the way meant blocking the very back. The was solid around three times, so I have to partially open it out, and using a BBQ fork began fishing bags out. I was having relative success until I droped the fork. Then we had a problem.
I went into my room and got my trusty screw driver, then set about my new task of taking the damn cupboard apart. The first three screws came out no problem. The second three were full of paint and I couldn't get a good grip on them... So Aaron to the rescue! Using a knife, he cleaned up the screws enough for me to get them out. Then we had to tacjle the hinges themselves. And they were stuck. We freed up the very edges, using this knife and a chisle like paint scraper from my tool set. Aaron finally managed to pry them loose with his knife, and we realied that not only had some idiot painted over the hinges, but they had put them on the cupboard while the paint on the wood was still tacky! But it got everything done, hauled a whole bunch of bags out, and we put it back together again. Now no one will even know that it was taken apart. ^^
By then, I was no longer angry about my X Ring. But this story deserves some telling, too. We'll be generous and say that my X Ring started to turn green, oh, two weeks after I got it. I had gone down to Cameron's, and they cleaned it, but the green wouldn't come off. They told me to bring it back to them after Christmas, and they'd send it back to the manufacturer tor repair, but I could have it for Christmas. Great. I went home on the 18th to dicover that it was green in three places, and there were holes where the gold had come out of the ring! Yesterday, when Ben was on his way to the bus, we stopped in at Cameron's to drop off my ring. They wanted to clean it. After I told them what was wrong and that I wanted the ring replaced.
I calmly explained that I had already had the ring cleaned, and had been told to bring it back to them to send it away to the manufacturer for repair. I said I had talked with a number of jelwers while I was home, and that they felt it was a chemical problem with the gold, so I would feel much better having it replaced. The cashier began looking for the discolouration, but there's something about artificial light that hides it. She then thought the holes I was complaining about were in the very back of the ring and a part of the design. I said no and showed her where the gold had come out, and where the tool marks were in the ring. I then had to write out exactly what I wanted done with the ring (since I hadn't been clear enough the first two times when I said it -_-*) and was told the manager would be shown in the morning and would likely call me. I was then given the work number and told it would be a month before they knew anything. A MONTH! Needless to say I was furious, and am not looking forward to the phone call from the manager.
But I got a surprise this morning! I was sitting around in my room chillaxin' when there was a knock at the door. I'm thinking who the hell could be here this early in the morning (it was 11), and assumed that it was likely Holy Rollers. I almost didn't answer the door, but I'm happy I did. It was Stephy, Matty and Perry! And the best news was: Stephy and Matty have moved back here, and live just down the road! Wooo! I now have a girl friend down here that I can go out with! YAY!!!! It made me very happy. ^^
