Crash!
The sound resounded as Kieliel's and his opponent's swords clashed. Kie flicked his sword to the side, stretching his hand. The black hooded figure stepped back, changing it's grip on the sword's handle. Meanwhile, Caleb had both his hands on the ground, trying to keep the rock cage in one piece against the continuous bashes of the other hooded figure. Feara had let Caleb bring her little brother on one of his (Caleb's) missions so he (Kieliel) can get a little training. The sound of clashing metal resounded once more in the area...and it was accompanied by a pained 'Gah!'. It made Caleb look at Kie, who was holding his shoulder. The impact jarred his shoulder, slightly pulling the muscle. Kie rolled his shoulders and went in for another attack. Their swords clashed again then a grating sound. Kie slipped through the opponent's defense and managed to stab at it's shoulder. As a reaction, the figure whipped it's arm out, sending Kieliel to a wall.
"Kieliel!" Caleb shouted, momentarily distracted
"I'm...okay." Kie struggled to get up, Caleb saw 3 gashes decorated the other's shirt right at his stomach.
Caleb pursed his lips and sent more energy into the cage, making it grow spikes that pierced the hooded figure. He heard a gem shatter and the figure disintegrated into dust. Caleb sat back, he wanted to help Kie but he needed to get some energy back into his legs.
Kie started slashing at his opponent again. The figure caught Kie's sword hand, twisted Kie around and bit deeply into his shoulder and sunk it's claws into his back. Kieliel cried out in pain and tried to free his hand.
"Ah! Let go!" Kie cried out, trying to wriggle himself free. The teeth and the claws sunk in deeper and the black haired male's blood was spilling fast.
Caleb, enraged by this lunged himself at the figure and bashed it's head. He leveled up into his Shift 2 and wore an armored glove with spikes right at the knuckles. The figure pushed a limp Kie to the ground and faced Caleb. It bared it's bloodied fangs. Kie's blood. Caleb lunged at the figure again, landed on top of it the started hitting it's head out of pure rage when he remembered where it's core gem was located at. He took the figure's sword and dove it into it's chest. A few seconds later the figure disintegrated and left a panting and tired Caleb. He faded back to his shift 1 and stumbled to Kie's side.
"Kie..." Caleb coughed out and placed a hand on his partner's shoulder
"Kieliel, Hey..get up..." He said when the other didn't respond. Caleb's eyes wandered to Kie's shoulder and back where large wounds ripped through. Caleb ripped his sleeve off and tied it around Kie's shoulder. He couldn't do anything about his back.
"Caleb...it hurts..." The black haired male finally weakly coughed out
"Hang in there kid, I'll try to get you to Zenerie as fast as I can." Caleb slung Kie across his shoulders and carried him back to their camp where a portal was always ready. They stepped through and they landed right infront of Zenerie.
"I had a feeling you two would be hurt." She said," but not this bad. Bring Kie upstairs and get his shirt off as gently as you can. I'd be there in a minute."
Caleb started to force his legs up the stairs and gently laid Kie on the bed. Caleb's legs gave in and he sat down on the bed abruptly.
'Stupid legs...' Caleb thought slightly annoyed
He then untied the sleeve that he wrapped around Kie's shoulder and slipped off his shirt.
"He hasn't stopped bleeding yet." He said, glancing again at Kie's bloodied back. He reached out his hand to Kie and slightly pulls back. He didn't want to hurt the kid anymore than he already was. He then reached out again and stroked Kie's hair back. Kie's lips slightly pursed and he moved to change his position.
Zenerie then opened the door with some towels, warm water, bandages, clothes and she handed him a drink.
"Thanks."
Zen just nodded then started cleaning Kie's wounds using her power to numb the pain a bit. She then started to heal the wounds, just to make it stop bleeding. She then started to dress Kie's wounds and pulled a shirt on him.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Caleb asked, holding the warm tea in his cold hands. By this time, Caleb has faded into his lowest level of Shift where he wore the clothes he had been wearing before he got into his shift 1.
"He lost a lot of blood, he has a fever and those wounds went deep...." Zenerie turned around to face Caleb and saw his worried face. Her face softened "...but Kie's a strong guy. He'll get through. Jut let him rest and he'll be fine." Zen wiped her hands on a damp towel and walked over to Caleb, bent down and whispered in his ear;
"You know, If stay beside him and let him know he's not alone...He'll get better faster."
Caleb looked up at Kie then at Zenerie and he smiled.
"Thank you Zen, for healing Kie and for that advice." Caleb took Zen's hand and kissed it.
Zenerie just smiled, she was used to Caleb being a flirt. Zenerie left and Caleb set down the tea on a side table and turned to Kieliel. He looked like he was sleeping peacefully. It was getting cold and Zen left Kie's shirt half open so his chest was freed up a bit. Caleb pulled the blanket over Kie and put his hand against the boy's forehead for no reason but he noticed that it was burning up. He knew that Kie had a fever but not this high. He forced his legs up and got a damp face towel and put it on Kie's forhead. Kie moaned then his eyes opened a bit.
"Well you wake up fast." Caleb said
Kie smiled. "Yeah. That thing you put on my forehead is freaking cold." He was still a bit hoarse and a his voice was still weak.
"Get some rest. I wanna mess with you but you're looking so fragile right now..."
"I'm not fragile!!!" Kie complained
"Whatever kid, just go to sleep. If you want to get up and running soon."
Kie eyes just looked at Caleb then he said "Alright." Then his eyes slowly closed.
"I'd be right here, kid."
A weak smile tugged at the edges of Kie's lips and he faded off to sleep. Caleb just curled up on side of a bed, leaning against the pillows, watching Kie sleep. After an hour or so, he fell asleep as well. Caleb was just as tired as anyone else..save for Kie.
....
A shout woke Caleb up for his sleep and He quickly sat up. He saw Kie panting and clutching his shoulder.
"Kie! Are you alright?!" Caleb got on his knees and his hands hovered near Kie
"Y-yeah. Nightmare. And stupid wound hurt when I sat up." Then Caleb saw Kie visibly shudder, his shirt slightly off his shoulder. He went over to Kie and Tentatively looked for a spot to place his arms so when he hugged the boy, it won't hit the wounds much. Then he hugged Kie tightly, burying his face in the boy's hair.
"Caleb!" Kie was still to weak to struggle but his voice was loud enough for Caleb to know that it was a scorn.
"I'm Sorry."
"You'd better be! It's not nice to hug me all of a sudden like that!"
"No, not about that. I'm sorry you got hurt."
"Huh?"
"I was supposed to be protecting you. I'm sorry. I failed."
"Nah, It's alright. I was expecting to get hurt someway somehow."
"B-but.."
"Shush! Enough! Topic closed! Now let me go and let me sleep!"
Caleb looked stunned and let Kie slip away from his arms.
'Wow, he has an effective way to make people shut up.' Caleb thought, blinking.
As the days went on, Kie's fever went crazy. Sometimes it faded sometimes it raged high but it didn't seem to bother him..much. What really bothered him was his wounds. It didn't damage his nerves but it hurt even just to hold his sword. Caleb was still depressed and continued to blame himself when Kie slapped him with his good hand out of annoyance.
Leaving Caleb stunned again. Kie then turned away and ran his fingers down his sword. He didn't want to hide the sword yet, it would take a bit more energy to re-summon it if he does.
"You really miss handling that, Don't you?" Caleb said, coming from behind. That was a sword connected to His element, it was the 1 of the 2 weapons Kie could summon from him; the other being a spear. He knew Kie loved the design on the sword and it's blade was really light, it's grip formed into a single handed blade to fit Kie's style.
"Yeah...I miss handling swords in general."
"You'll get better, none of your nerves are damaged after all. You're still lucky."
"Yeah, lucky as the abyss."
"Don't say that. It could have been worse."
"Sorry, I'm just such an pessimist lately."
"It's natural" Then Caleb gave him a wary but warm hug.
"Caleb! Enough with the hugging already!!!!" Kie had enough strength to flail his arms.
"But you're nice to hug~ And you're already cold." (Em von Siraine/ shadowknightpaladin/ Vayle: He's actually perverted, this is just his reason razz )
"....It's awkward...."
"For you, It is but for me....*smirks*"
"Don't you even consider MY feelings?!"
"I do but..I know you like it too~" Caleb's smirk went to a grin
"No I don't!!!!"
"Suuusss (common expression here in the Philippines, don't mind too much), Then why do you like snuggling up to me at night?"
"Hey! You're the one who's going up to me! I only moved because I was about to fall!"
"Tssssuuusss~"
Kie pouted and tried to wiggle out of Caleb's arms. "Ouch."
"You okay?" Caleb asked, Releasing Kie
"Yeah, just moved my back too much*
Kie then moved to the other side of the bed and curled up there. Caleb felt sorry for the boy and it WAS getting cold... Cale sat on the bed and just stared at Kie back passively since it was faced to him. He noticed Kie's breathing regulate. He fell asleep faster now, his body still needed to recover. Then Caleb saw Kie shudder. He moved closer and pressed his back against Kie's, lending him some warmth.
Kieliel woke to find himself in Caleb's arms. He wasn't able to get his bearings at first but when he did, he quickly scrambled out of the blue haired male's arms.
"C-c-caleb! WTH?!"
"Oh...Good Morning~"
"What do you think you're doing?!"
(Em von siraine/shadowknightpaladin/Vayle: He's trying to rape you xDDD)
"Uh...I dunno..." Caleb replied quite sleepily.
"Pervert!" Kie exclaims and trudges away into the bathroom.
"K-Kieliel!" And Caleb was met with a door in the face.
Kie was already half-dressed when he got out of the bathroom, his bandages were off, showing the wounds. It wasn't healed up since the wounds went deeper than anyone expected. Caleb pursed his lips and went to get fresh bandages. Caleb came back and handed it to Kie.
"Who do you want to do it? Me or Zen?" The earth-handler asked
"Zen." Then Kieliel mumbled; "She has gentler hands than you."
Caleb heard that and just shrugged it off. He went out to get Zenerie.
Zen came back with what looked like a laugh held back. When Caleb closed the door, she sat on the bed behind Kie and unrolled the bandage.
"Caleb's sulking..." She said, a grin starting to spread on her face.
"He is?" Kie asked, tilting his head back a bit to look at her.
"Yeah, he said that you were being mean to him."
"Me? Being mean to him? Hah! He's the pervert!"
"Why? What'd he do?"
"He was hugging me again when I woke up." Kie slightly pouted
"Oooooh~ He said he was just keeping you warm."
"Tsk."
Zenerie chuckled slightly as she was wrapping his back. The wound was healing well, no infections what so ever.
