Race: Shadeling (Demon; a sentient mass of shadow and magic)

Appearance: Variable; in the light, Taryn often appears as small-framed human girl of about 16 with dark blue eyes and long, wavy hair that she'll often change the color of. In the dark, she can easily appear as no more than a shadow, that being precisely what she is. Her choice of attire tends to make her look like a homeless punk, sometimes even a prostitute.

Abilities: As a Shadeling, Taryn is capable of altering her appearance pretty much as she pleases, so long as she remains approximately the same size. Bright light can limit this ability, forcing her to remain more solid, but the darker an area the more "fluid" she becomes, to the point that in darkness she can become an intangible walking shadow. With that, just as bright light forces her to be more tangible, in absolute darkness Taryn cannot sustain any form. She can also conceal herself in shadows to where none of the normal senses can detect her, but she must remain in the dark area and cannot interact with anyone except through speech. Even in daylight she can move with incredible speed, and she's fairly tough, but not exceptionally strong. Taryn often is not looking at the world through the normal color spectrum, but instead in magic flows. As such, she's adept at picking up and magical forces.

Personality: Fun-loving and a bit of a trickster and trouble-maker, Taryn is responsible for some of the local minor phenomena wherever she goes. While she does occasionally interact with others, her social skills aren't the greatest, and she tends to consider herself superior to others, as they are mere playthings to her. While not really evil, she only has her own interests in mind and will often do things purely out of boredom or "just because she can."

When asked for one, the surname she gives is, by her understanding, the personification of night - thus, she is claiming to be night's child. As a Shadeling, she doesn't actually have a surname, since she doesn't actually have parents.
