&Chess is the 2nd daughter and the 3rd child of seven siblings. Her mother (deceased) was a violent drunk who, when the other children weren't being protected by the eldest Nasha, beat the children. They lived in Cloud at the time.
Her mother died after only 2 years of being sober and Chess found herself shipped off to live with foster parents in leaf village. Her other sisters and younger brother were also sent to other villages but her oldest brother was left to live in Cloud.
She grew up in yet another large family of foster children and developed a strong attachment to a doll Nasha had given her before she left.
Chess, while always writing to her siblings, has never recieved a single letter back from Nasha.&
