Last thursday I went to a ralley for gay rights, protesting issue one (the issue that banned gay marriage in ohio). We held up signs by the road, yelled out cheers, and had some wonderfull speakers from many different groups. (parents of LGBT children, children of LGBT Parents, LGBT families and other families and individuals affected by the amendment.)
My friend saw a gay pride flag I had left in my car and asked, "Erin! Are you gay now?" No, hello, I spent all weekend making out with a very cute boy thank you very much... but would it really matter if I was a lesbian? I explained to her about how I went to the ralley and a women had given me a flag to hold when I was by the road and she said, "Oh, why'd you go though, if your straight?" So I asked her why she didn't go. If she really supports gay rights, she wouldn't have any qualms about going to a ralley. Change can't happen, unless people from all sides come together to support and realize it. We all have a long we to go.
If you go to http://cleveland.indymedia.org/news/2004/12/13748.php you can see the back of my friend's head... I just missed being in the picture because I had just knelt down to pet a puppy. sweatdrop It kept barking like it was saying, "hey pay attention to me!" So... I missed out on being in the picture. That's okay. Puppies take priority of personal publicity.
