Though felt by all within miles, their footsteps were silent as they walked into the small town of Kornon. Few people came to this part of the world anymore, and for good reason. For the last 50 years, everyone who had entered the area had either died or returned home with their mind lost in a web of madness. The young woman's light figure seemed small when compared with the man beside her, his bodys degree of toned perfection visible even under the loose, black pants and white dress shirt which looked about two sizes too big, His black hair only added to the pale appearance of his skin, his blue eyes sending chills like icy fire down the spines of even the most powerful beings. Yet, even with her small appearance beside him, it was obvious that the woman commanded a high level of respect from the male. Her trim figure was concealed by a pair of loose, white pants and a matching tank-top, a leather jacket hugging her shoulders, its surface dyed black with red satin lining its inner surface. Her hair, like her form, was a strong contrast to his, firy red and standing out against her dusky-colored skin. Her pale violet eyes seemed to stare into one's very soul as she held a soft smile with her rose-red lips. Men and women of the town were lining up outside their shops and homes, their darkly tanned skin an odd sight against the light, powdery snow that drifted over the town. A wild look filled the eyes of every man and woman, save one, a small girl with an appearance that made her seem not a day over 7 human years. Her eyes, though, showed her true age, those deep faucets of emerald green fllled with a pool of wisdom to replace the wild look of the others. As the travelers stopped in front of her, she simply nodded before leading them into a small house on the East side of Kornon. Upon entering the building, the girl stepped over to the oven where she proceeded to place a pot of water over the gas-induced flame. Turning back to her guests, she nodded towards a circular table, four chairs surrounding it, each exactly one inch from the table. The travelers took opposite seats at the table, seemingly wanting nothing to do with each other. Smiling at them, the girl turned to pull the pot off the oven, splitting the water between three white mugs which seemed to materialize from nothing more than, maybe, the counter upon which they rested. Three tiny, brown bags appeared in her right hand and she proceeded to drop one into each mug before turning to follow the mugs as they floated to the table, one resting in front of both the male and female, the third resting in front of the Northern chair between them, the male to her right and female to her left. Once seated, the girl finally opened her mouth to speak, her voice sounding childlike, yet holding an undertone of great wisdom. "Gwendylyyn, I heard you were coming. The sands have hidden themselves as the winds have spoken your name. Why now?" The young female tossed a cautious glance towards her companion, his expression blank as she answered her silent question with a reply of equal sound. "Don't tell her everything, not yet." Even in her mind, his voice gave her chills and she stifled a soft moan before turning back to the girl. Her voice flowed like silk, peace flowing from her throughout the room. "The world has called for her renewal. She has been crying out for it for too long now, with no reply. My instructor taught me all that she could, and now I must answer this world's crues, must end her pain and bring back the peave my father once offered." "You know, just as well as I, that it won't be that easy," responded the girl. "Carlene will go to all ends to stop you, to hold you back from the power she has enjoyed for so long...and she's not the only one who will stand in your way. Though her reign is terrible, and her methods inexcusable, she has her followers, willing followers, and plenty of them. Like her, they will stop at nothing to keep her in power and to keep you out." Nodding, Gwendylyyn closed her eyes as a soft sigh escaped her lips. "That's why I've come to you, Serene. I'll need help when the time comes, and I am hoping the outer reals will be a part of that help. You know them, they follow and trust you. The council looks to you as its highest elder. I need your help in speaking to them. No matter how strong I am, I can't convince them with strength, and they know too little of me to hear what I would tell them." A pleased smile crossed the girl's lips as she nodded, lightly sipping her tea before closing her eyes to think. Upon opening them, she spoke once more, her voice sounding more aged than before. "I'll talk to them, and I know they'll listen. Rest assured, the outer reals will have your back when the time comes." Her voice returning to its softer tone, the girl paused before speaking again, a soft smile on her lips as she asked, "Might you need a place to stay for the night?" Gwendylyyn shook her head gently before standing, a light nod of her head causing the young man to do the same. "Thank you, Serene. Should you need anything, you know how to contact me." With that, Gwendylyyn turned away from the table, making her way out the front door with the young man only a step behind her. No words escaped their lips as they made their way out of town, keeping their eyes disconnected from those of the town's residents. Once out of the town's limits, the young man pulled Gwendylyyn into his arms, their forms seeming to disappear into the light snow surrounding them.
