One Shots of Sorts
I get my little spurts of creativeness. With them, I write oneshots. C:
He's Got Lips Like Morphine [ OS ]

Title: He's Got Lips Like Morphine
Rating: G
Pairing: Edward Scissorhands/OC
Warnings: AU. Very AU.
Summary: A love that's strictly impossible but one girl will go against all odds and face all opsticles to stay - at least - beside him.
Notes: The appearance of Edward is obvious. As for the OC, her name is Uni. Like me. [ xD ] She's a pretty girl with short black hair with pink tips. [ C: ] During the time of this one shot, she's wearing something similar to my avatar. Minus the bonnet, night cap, wolf tail, and eyepatch. Other than that, enjoy.

She loved visiting him. It was the part of the day she always looked forward to. Being able to visit him was actually, the only reason why she ever bothered waking up so early.

Quick visits in the morning before school and then as soon as school let out, she'd return another time - sharing her entire day with him. Telling of the hated populars and the funniest thing her friend had done that day. It was all routine.

She was used to it and so was he.

The plus side to it all, no one bothered to wonder where she was, or even follow her. The castle a top the hill had a frightening appearance, but once up the winding road and passed the front gates, it opened out to a wonderous garden. The garden was in fact the place where she and him spent most of their time. She'd be sitting, doing homework, while he occupied himself with trimming the hedges. Making shape of all sorts from them.

Deers, Hands, Dragons - whatever he made them into, she was still caught in awe that he was able to do such things with those glorious hands of his.

Anyone else would be frightened of the peculiar hands he had, hands of scissors. But it wasn't only his hands that would unsettle someone. Just ... his apearance. The scars that ran deep on his face from those hands of his, the deathly pale skin complexion, the dark circles around his dark eyes, and the wacked out hair on his head. All were something to at least be awkward around.

But she wasn't. She loved all of those things about him.

    He was different.

Be it that today was a Saturday, Uni would be able to spend the whole day with Edward. She loved weekends much more than she ever had before. There were even some times when she never went home! She'd stay over, obviously.

    "Edward."

Her voice chimed out as she slipped in through the gates and into the garden. Glancing around as she made her way towards the front door, like always, not much had changed since she had last been there. Good or bad, she wasn't sure.

    "Edward?"

Calling out again as her head peeked through the front door into the the poorly lit home with a vast emptiness, Uni shut the door behing as she came in. This wasn't like him, to keep her waiting. Not at all. Starting up the stairs to what was his room, the expression on her face grew to one of curiousity.

Scaling the stairs with not much effort, Uni came to his room - the attic that was missing an awfully large part of the ceiling revealing an open blue sky.

    "Edward?"

One more time, her voice raising an octave in worry. This wasn't like Edward, to make her worry. What if something had happened to him? What if someone, besides her, came to the castle? What if they found him? What if they ... hurt him?

    "Edward!"

Voice cracking, she looked around, hoping she'd spot him and mentally slap herself for overeacting. There was no chance of that since the attic was empty. Growing scared now, Uni wrapped her arms around herself, moving over towards the meek fire place that was substituted as Edwards bed. Sitting herself there, she thought, thought of where he could possibly be.

Without realizing it, Uni discovered that she, was in fact, shedding tears. How childish she was ... Bringing up her arm and running it across her eyes, she took in a deep breath.

What was she supposed to do now, without Edward?

She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she had grown fond of him. Very fond. Not just on the friend-friend basis. She liked him more than that. She didn't care about how he looked or those hands of his. She knew that he would treat her with the same care he treated the hedges in the garden, if not more. At least ... she wished he would. Still, even if they couldn't be more than friends, all she wanted was to be around him.

    Edward made her happy.

    "Uni? W-what's wrong?"

The soft voice broke the eerie silence and Uni perked her head up, looking to where she had walked in. And there he was! Standing as if nothing had happened. Overcome with relief, Uni hopped up from where she sat and hurried over towards him and without hesitation, wrapped her arms around his middle.

"Where were you?! Ugh ... just ... don't do that again, please?"

Mumbling into his chest, she kept her hold. She expected nothing in return, just a small answer of, okay. Again, what she had assumed resulted in the opposite way.

Growing a tad but nervous to his arms rounding her back, the sound of metal sliding upon metal at her ears, she took in a sharp breath, pressing herself against him more. A surprise it was. A pleasant surprise.

"I'm sorry. I was ... thinking. I heard you ... but I needed to finish my thoughts. I'm here now?"

With a nervous laugh, Uni picked up her head, looking up at him and catching his eyes. "What were you thinking about?"

Seeming to be startled by the question, Edward dropped his gaze from hers, his voice being caught in a stutter. Not pressing the matter, Uni unwrapped her arms, giving a quick pat to his chest before she carefully moved out of his arms.

"Nevermind. You just had me worried, but yes. You're here now and that's all that matters. Shall we?"

Gesturing out of the room, her intentions were to leave back out into the garden. It was such a finer place to be then inside.

Nodding to her, Edward gave a weak smile, letting her pass him. Quick to follow, he watched as she hopped down the stairs while he just ... plopped? Either way, Uni was always more lively and cheerful - the opposite of himself as it were.

    --

Outside, it was back to the usual. The earlier event having been forgotten for now. Uni was chattering away while she watched Edward do the faily trimming of the hedges.

"It's funny, my sister getting married. I'm to be one of the bridesmaids but ... what if I don't want to be in the wedding? It's not like she'll come to mine - if I get married that is. The only reason why I'm in the bloody wedding is because my mom made her put me in it. Pathetic, isn't it? Oh well. We never liked each other ... it's expected."

Uni normally rambled and was the only one talking. Edward would just nod, agree with her, and never object.

"Why wouldn't you get married, Uni?" he asked, peering over his shoulder, his hands ceasing their actions of tending to the hedge that was starting to look like a cat of sorts.

Blinking in surprise, Uni looked up from fiddling with the assortment of flowers she had been laying next to.

    "I ... don't know."

It was the honest truth. She didn't have an answer and there was no use in lying to him. Sitting up, legs crossed indian-style and her hands within the middle, she thought. Why would he bring up something like that?

Without paying much attention, she was startled when she saw Edward was now sitting in front of her. With a kind look in his eyes, he nodded.

"You'll get married. You'll be happily in love. Your sister will be jealous."

Laughing, Uni loved how sweet he was at times.

    "Thank you, Edward."

    Silence.

Not having a second thought about it, Uni leaned forward, her eyes half shut and her cheeks flushed. Brushing her lips over his, the kiss she planted didn't even last more than a few seconds before she drew back, catching the surprised look on his face.

    "Thank you, Edward. Thank you."

Murmuring, she couldn't help the few tears that fell from her glazed over eyes.

With an unknowing expression, Edward looked at her - speechless.

the end
