After 2 hours, the shopping was done. Rem replaced her armour with a camo-green jean jacket that rolled up to her elbows. Beneath it was a black tank-top & her pants were baggy with the same color green. Deep cargo pockets dotted the pants. Her long copper hair blended with her outfit. It was hard to tell what Kai & Aergan had picked. Kai was covered in head-to-toe with a duster while Aergan replaced his cloak with a trench coat.
The shopping for undergarments turned out as interesting as expected. Rem nearly crippled Jack; Taronis ended up running around blind for a while after Takara tied a thong around his head; Aergan made Rem so mad he refused to come within 15 feet of her; & Kioshi teased Kai until she became so embarressed that she set a section of the store aflame from her body heat, resulting to them ending their little adventure by running for their lives from the officials.
They were all now being lead by Takara to the beach. (Since she insisted.) Zaira wasn't with them since Sotaru long ago dragged her off to do more training. After much debate, Rem, Aergan, Kioshi, & Kai convinced Takara to let them go to the boardwalk. While Taka, Jack, & Taronis went to explore the wonders of the water.
"Fishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfishfish...."
Kioshi sweatdrop as the hyperactive Kai went zipping from stale-to-stale as she searched for the fishy delicacy that teased her nose.
"Maybe we shouldn't introduce her to coffee..." he suggested.
"Good idea..." Aergan mumbled. He grabbed the midget by her head as she went to attack a crab cake stand. Kioshi quickly bought a basket of the stuff from the visibly shaken vender & handed it to the cat demoness. Only then did Aergan let her go. One bite & she visibly melted & her ears began twitching happily. Kioshi & Aergan grinned at each other as they began scratching & pulling her ears. Kai seemed too enveloped by her crab cakes to notice.
Meanwhile, Rem was skimming through the shops. "Ohhh!" She speed-walked a few feet closer. "Henna tattoos!" She turned to the group. "Let's all get one!"
Aergan grimaced. "No thanks. I'd rather not become a walking canvas."
Kioshi walked over to Rem's side & looked at what tattoos they had. "These do seem pretty cool."
Rem shot him a smile. "That's all you need: one more tattoo." She teased as she oogled a few of the many tribal tattoos that decorated the angel's body. Kioshi returned the smile. Kai was watching them a foot away with a cheeks stuffed with crab cakes.
Kai: *munchmunchmunchmunchmunch*
"Behind you, Kioshi." Aergan said boredly.
"Hm?" the angel looked around. He was so thrown off by the casualness of the statement that he almost didn't have time to dodge the punch directed at his head. Adrenaline instantly took over & Kioshi slid to the side. The breeze from the fist brushed against his cheek. He spun down & swept his feet under his attacker's. Though they jumped back a few feet & avoided it.
*Munchmunchmunchmunchmunch*
Kioshi looked sternly up at the person.
"Luichen... I hope you're not the one that has the Committee ranting about 'demon activity.'"
The demon in front of him looked normal: no tail, wings, or scales. He ran a hand through his long crimson hair as he huffed at the question. "They wish..."
Rem stared at Luichen. "What are you doing here? I thought you were busy?"
"Just dropping in to say hello." he replied with a sadistic grin.
"Some hello... " Aergan muttered.
Just then a loud rattle shook the ground & roared in their ears. Kai jumped so high she reached eye level with Aergan. A metal roller coaster zoomed 20 feet above them. The demoness watched the contraption carry its screaming passengers through twist, around a loop, & disappear into a dip.
"Is that a metal snake kidnapping those people?" she asked bewilderedly.
Rem gawked at her. "You've never been on a roller coaster?! Its a thrill ride for humans. Come on! We'll ride it!"
& before they could protest, she had grabbed Aergan & Kai by the wrist & dragged them to the line. Kioshi & Luichen ambled after them.
"So what is this thing with the Committee?" Luichen asked more sternly.
Kioshi began the explanation.
ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja
It took half an hour to get to the roller coaster. By then, Luichen was filled in of what was going on & had offered his assisstance. The group was now getting seated. Aergan was sharing a car with a 6 year old kid who seemed more interested with him than the ride. Aergan glared at him as he had to hunch forward to avoid any low hanging beams. The snickers from the others didn't help his delihmma. Behind him was Kioshi & Luichen. & behind them sat Kai & Rem. Kai watched in wide-eyed curiousity as the workers came by to secure the bars. Rem smiled at her.
"Ready?"
"For wh-AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!"
The roller coaster rocketed forward so suddenly it gave them whiplash. Kai heard the others laugh at her reaction. If she wasn't hanging onto the car for dear life she would have tried to pulverize them.
"Hey, Kai! It's jsut like flying only being strapped in!" Kioshi yelled over the wind & the rattling. His & everyone else's arms were raised. Screams came from all ends of the coaster. The little kid next to Aergan was still staring innocently at him. The wind fluffed his then brown hair.
"DON'T YOU EVER BLINK?!!" He shouted to the kid.
"I-i-i-i do n-n-n-not tru-ust hu-human co-o-o-n-n-ntra-apt-t-t-tions!" she spat back at Kioshi, the severe bumping vibrating her speech.
The roller coaster shot into a twist & began escalating into a loop. Kai looked at it with wide-eyes.
"LEMME OFF THE METAL SNAKE!! LET! ME! OFF!!!"
As if by her will, the coaster stopped at the top of the loop... suspending its passengers upside-down.
"WHat did you do?!" Aergan shrieked at her before turning back around to make sure the kid was ok. He was still staring at him. "What's wrong with you...?" He asked as if he were talking to a ghost.
"I DON'T KNOW!!" Kai shrieked back.
Rem, Kioshi, & Luichen: sweatdrop
"I think its a malfunction." Luichen muttered.
Kakairo blinked at him. "Sooo... we're stuck."
"Yep." Kioshi said cheerfully. He made his energy concentrate on the seat so his butt glued to the car. He put his arms behind his head & relaxed. The others followed his example. The energy butt-glue part, that is. They looked so out of place compared to the other frightened passengers.
Kai crossed her arms with a regaiend composure. "Well this sucks."
Kioshi nodded. "We might be here a while too. So get comfortable."
A mechanic with a megaphone appeaered a hundred feet below them on a platform. "we're fixing the ride. Please stay calm, keep in your seat, & hang on."
A few passengers began chanting a cuss word while one shouted that they would sue the company.
"Take your time!" Shouted Luichen enthusiastically. All the humans looked at him as if her were crazy.
"Hey! I can see Takara, Jack, & Taronis from here!" Rem chimed.
"Where?!" Aergan asked. Forgetting about hi height, he sat up to look & bonked his head on a near-by pole. ((Don't ask how. He just did.)) Rem flinched & tried not to chuckle at her mistake & her friend's pain. The passengers screamed at the sudden vibration, while the vampire recoiled into a hunched poisition again. This time he had acquired a headache. He rubbed where a huge bump was starting to form.
The kid beside Aergan started to break out in happy chuckles. Aergan glared at him. "Well at least he isn't staring at me anymore..."
Rem chuckled. "I like this kid. Lets adopt him."
