I wonder if the mods get any training at all in diffusing arguements... gonk I really don't think they do. sad
Sometimes I think it'd really benefit the site to have them go through a mini-course in 'phrases not to use' or something. It's really astounding how many classic no-no tactics they take when trying to intervien in an arguement; methods that are guarenteed to make people more angry, not less. But then I guess most of them are teenagers...and for a lot of teenagers (who am I kidding; for a lot of adults) the most important thing is saving face, not stopping a fight. There's that natural insecurity that makes you feel the need to defend yourself by putting others down.
