REMEMBER THIS
Here lies our soldiers brave and strong, Who fought the wars all along The battle fields that filled with mud, They watched their comrades spill their blood They saw their pain, their fright and fear, Their screams and cries they did hear Their countrymen fell all around, Each lying cold upon the ground
They charged the fields day after day, And at night they stopped to pray God is gracious, God is good, God help us win this if you would They said amen but that’s not all, Upon His might they would call We fight for freedom and for rights, Just help us through one more night
The years go by the end so close, The memory of peace, a ghost Through snow and sleet, the hail of fire, They battle on but never tire Reloaded guns, ahead they storm, Thoughts of home so safe and warm They don’t give up, they will not fail, Their cry of victory, they will hail
But not until the price is paid, Their friends, their family have been slayed They finally rest but dreams do come, Their triggers guarded by their thumbs Home they come for all to praise, They bring our flag for us to raise Now years later, soldiers no more, They risked their lives, the memories sore
Veterans now they spread the word, How they prayed unto the Lord To end the war and bring them home, To end the killing and the storm Some take the time in November, And our veterans they do remember But what about the ones who didn’t come back, The ultimate price, they made the pact
Today we’re free because they cared, Our hopes, our dreams that they shared We must remember them as well, The ones who fought, the ones that fell All the men stood tall and proud, So we’d not live under a shroud Our freedoms and rights we owe these men, So pick up a phone, pick up a pen
Say thank you to these precious souls, For you hopes and dreams, cares and goals Without their courage to lead our way, Our country would not be so great today If you don’t, you should be ashamed, They gave their lives, were hurt or maimed They fought for freedom, for me and you, Don’t forget what they went to do
