Fresh New Can Of Worms - Now with 50% more worms! Two weeks ago when I met with Swarf, we were in a coffee shop looking through the code and he pointed to the folder holding the build script for compiling the zOMG server code... Swarf: This is the build script, you type in "ant -f build-zomg.xml" and the script will create the java executable. You can try it out, but it'll complain about missing dependencies since you don't have the right tools installed and configured. Me: Okay, let me try the command... "ant -f build-zomg.xml" [.... 5 pages worth of compilation messages ...] Build complete. Swarf: ... wow, that's not supposed to happen sweatdrop Turns out 3 weeks ago I was fixing Monster Galaxy, and in the process I installed and configured what happened to the same set of tools that were used to compile programs. While trying to debug why the orbs aren't showing up, I had to go back to the source code and start debugging. I'm lucky that I had the right environment setup before, which saved a bunch of time. BUT... After tracing through the server code for a day, looks like all the data were handled correctly. Problem did not rest between the database and the zOMG server. As I just upgraded the server, I thought that the new server must have been the culprit, but I was wrong. gonk Looks like the problem might be on the Flash client side, which will take much more time to debug. Faced with the task of compiling the Flash client, this time I don't have the right environment setup, and the task will take a long time... The only silver lining here is that I now have the knowledge and ability to adjust the gold granting amount, and gold curve, since I learned everything about the server while debugging the orb problem. I think the sun is about to rise... time to hit the sac!

Thank you for all your hard work Lanzer! It means so much to all of us. Just the idea that I might be able to play again makes me very happy! I do have some questions concerning how it will be relaunched though.

i'm rooting and praying for you and this revival and i'm confident you can figure this out too.
if the orb count really can't be fixed perhaps we could have a workaround like an external null chamber page for leveling our rings and other things related to orb usage, kinda like gaia labs?

Thank you and the team for all your work into reviving zOMG. Some of my best Gaia memories was playing on zOMG with my friends back in the day.
You guys really made something fun and special with this game.

I know you can figure it out, just give it time and be sure to get plenty of rest. Your well being is worth more than the zOMG servers! 4laugh

Lanzer, thank you for putting so much effort into our website, we all really appreciate it.

I'm, personally, overly excited to be able to play zOMG again some day, and I hope you keep your good health in the process.

It's also quite the great news to find out you found the gold aspects of it in the meantime! Keep up the wonderful work, and I look forward to the next update in your journal~

Thank you Lanzer and good luck! But i can't find the SCAS guild, just a SCA guild and a sci-fi guild. Please Lanzer, or somebody give me a link of that guild, from where i can launch the zOMG. Maybe i will join in the SCAS guild, if i know where can i do it and to get the zOMG link too. I want to check and test it.

I wouldn't worry about the gold dispensing problem because people were complaining that it was giving out too much gold at its time. Although not really.

zOMG was seriously incredible and it was my favorite part about Gaia. A fun and exciting way to earn Gold. Literally in tears and praying this isn't for nothing.

I was under the impression that the code was a complete mess and would have to be rewritten so that others would be able to work with it. Is that true?

And is there any way to mute or remove the low stamina panting noise?

So much isn't known.

I can't wait to play this again.
My hopes are high and my childhood is screaming to come back.
You shouldn't work yourself into a coma. Take your time.
We'd rather have you healthy than dead. I mean if you die, who'd bring back this game? Thank you so much for tackling this project.
I was tempted to leave gaia over this a long time ago. I was here when it all started.
It just felt like my world fell apart when zOMG was gone. (didn't have much of a life back then)
When I had problems or a fight at home, gaia was there to vent and kill monsters.
Which is why this is important. So again, thank you for trying to bring it back.

This transparency is refreshing. I maydo not understand everything I read, but I appreciate you walking us through the process. I will temper my enthusiasm about playing zOMG! once more with the reality of what you're facing. Please do take care of yourself. We would not want zOMG! back if the result was burnout for you. It's the last thing we want for you.

I don't know if this is related to the issue in some way or what ever. You mentioning the flash made me think that in about the last week all things that use flash on gaia are not working as they used to. Like the avatar when they have astras and the fish tanks in signatures all have an overlay that that looks like you need to click it to play it. But if you click it depending on where you click it it may take you to the tank or the avi dress up. I thought it was maybe my browser or the flash or something I needed to update but I have checked and it is all updated. So I was jut thinking it was a new gaia thing. But just thought with this message maybe there is more to it and it could all be related.

Lanzer. I heard that the Beta server is Tiny Terror. And I remembered, that server was no longer in use by the time DMS had come out. So there would of been no point to have DMS data on it. If I remember right like over half the servers were no longer in use by the time zOMG was no more. Perhaps you've only looked through the old no longer in use servers? I remember Brain Claim being one that was used for DMS. Try seeing if the data is there?
