Because for every License to Wed and Night at the Museum that Robin Williams does, his eternal pair of aces-up-his-sleeve will save him. Oh, Hook. You're, like, a decade and a half old, cheesy beyond all belief, and you're still sweetly awesome. I can never look away.
I think it's because Peter Pan and J.M. Barrie's works are very eternal. Finding Neverland proved that, and Hook is all the more awesome because the writer obviously KNEW the book and didn't hesitate to make the entire film one big pile of meta-references. Julia Roberts and Dustin Hoffman come out of it looking well, but they also have Oceans and Huckabees to make me love them. Williams? Needs somewhere to kick serious a**. And here it is.

The Epic of Thunderbuckets! Exclamation Point!
Read all about the heroic adventures of Earth's Randomest Superhero, THUNDERBUCKETS! OK, it's not very exciting. In fact, he really is kinda lame. I wouldn't blame you if you just went fishing instead. Still with me? Then read on, MacDuff.
