Mirror's Manifesto
If you're wondering why I argue the way that I do on one of the ED forums, this may help. If you're snooping for personal tidbits, this probably will be disappointing. Check the first entry for more info! ^_^ Feel free to comment, too.
Religion and the masses
Where does Mirror stand on religion? Hah. You thought you'd learn something. I'm pretty much agnostic; so sorry to disappoint. Being agnostic, I freely acknowledge that I haven't got any answers, but that doesn't keep me quiet (which would take a miracle ; )). I don't think there's a god or an afterlife, but I'm not certain.

I don't try to tear down peoples' faiths (with some exceptions, see below). I have no reason to. I don't know what truth is myself, so I have no reason to try to convert people to my admittance that I can't know reality. I may be wrong. If so, and someone else is right, I will have caused harm by weakening their faith (depending upon who is right, naturally. If the athiests are right, it won't matter). On the other hand, if I'm right to believe that nothing matters no harm is done by allowing people to continue to live for a false belief.

I can state pretty definitively that the above paragraph made sense to me alone...

While I don't mind people who believe different things, one of my biggest peeves is inconsistency within a religion or hypocrisy in people who profess a particular system of belief. I don't tell people their religion is screwed if it is internally consistent. I do enjoy pointing out hypocrisy, but only for the purpose of strengthening someone's worldview. If I demonstrate inconsistency to someone, they can then address the issue. If a belief system is full of contradictions with no possible reconciliation, there can be no real harm (which is a moral term here so I hate using it) in pointing them out to the followers. They may go out and find real truth. One never knows.

That was disjointed and unclear, so I'm gonna go back and possibly make this into two separate entries, like my political ones. I'm just too lazy to do it now. Bear with me and my irregular journaling!

A taste of what's to come...
What Mirror thinks about abortion. Wahoo.
