I was cooking spaghetti with my mother (we have seperate meat for it - I don't have onion) and the subject of diets came up. She said a friend had lost a lot of weight by cutting out such things as potatoes, pasta and bread. I said that wasn't healthy - weight didn't matter, and wasn't it better to be healthy? Like everyone I know, she equated skinny = healthy, and being obese wasn't healthy. I retaliated by adding much more sugar to her pan of meat than I should have. Oh, the glories of fat acceptance.
