If your house is full of "noob" items, don't waste the 1000 gold in entering it in the home arena. You WON'T win, & the scores you'll get will most likely be very disappointing.
Don't beg people for gold or items ~ it's very rude. Most people have a lot of gold or really cool items because they worked ard for them. You should and can too!!

How to get gold
Invest in a trading & vending pass. Consider it opening your own thrift shop or garage sale ~ one person's trash is another person's treasure.
~Stay away from Marketplace 2.0 for as long as you can & spare yourself the 2% Gaia will take out!!
Participate in ALL events. Some events award more than one of a given item. Even if you don't like the items, you can sell them, which means more gold for you!!
Play Jigsaw.
Use tokens won from the Daily Chance to play Slots or Cards, & then sell the tickets or save the tickets to get a prize, & then sell the prize.
Go Fishing, & sell your winnings.
Participate in contests or lotteries in guilds or the Chatterbox forum.
Play around in towns ~ pick up trash (which you can sell if you want) & shake things for gold.
Make a mule (or 2 or 3) & do the same with them. Then, trade the gold to your main account.

Sell your talent! Avi art, graphics, banners, writing, games, etc in the Minishops forum
Commenting on users' profiles & posting in forums gets you a bit of gold ~ Go to the Welcome to Gaia forum regularly & welcome some new friends, either in their topic or on their profile.
Vote & leave *constructive!!* comments in the Arenas.
Buy Monthly Collectibles & sell them after their market value goes up ~ As much as I hate to suggest using real money to get pixelated gold, doing so keeps the site up & running. Consider it donating to your favorite website for being as awesome as it is wink
How to Make 100K Without Begging or Bumping
~MCs seem to go down after the following month's MCs come out & then shoot back up the following month
IE: August (this month) MC is @ ~13K. July @ ~9K. June @ 20K.
*You can't rely solely on any graphs provided for you...ANYWHERE!! They are just an aid. From having taken Statistics in college, I realize the possibility that each graph may be based on different variables (such as dates, & which version of the marketplace the data is being drawn from).
*There really is no point in using mules for this type of activity because you'll be competing with yourself lol. Pick one account to play the market with, & stick to it!!
*Be patient. Some people get lucky & can make 100K in a week. Some people it may take a month or more. But it will pay off eventually, regardless.
REMEMBER!!! DO NOT EVER ever ever ever EVER give out your password to ANYONE, even if they're claiming to be Gaia staff and even if they're offering you a billion gold ~ all that will happen to you is you WILL LOSE EVERYTHING. I can guarantee it. If anyone ever asks for your password, report them immediately!!!
And to anyone out there who thinks that it's cool to get passwords & hack noobs ~ you should be ashamed of yourself & I hope your IP addy gets permanently banned. smile
ALSO ~ if you ever click on a link at Gaia that brings you to a login page, check the web address & make sure it says http://gaiaonline.com and nothing else. There is a site that looks exactly like Gaia, but the only thing that works on it is the login area. "What's the deal with that?" Just another way to steal your password. Report the user who posted the link.
