I flinch away from the bright light. After sitting in the dark, it burns my eyes. I blink rapidly trying to see who has entered our cell. Yukito jumped to his feet and stood between me and the intruder.
"You still intend to fight us, Yukito?" said a cold voice that sent a shiver down my spine.
"Of course." Yukito retorts. "I won't let you fulfill the ritual if i can help it." A second later, Yukito slams into the wall across from me. The man who had entered our cell had punched him. And that man turned out to be the vampire from the cafe. I try to move to Yukito's side, but my arms are still chained to the wall over my head. The vampire walks over to me extracting a key from his black trenchcoat's pocket.
I shrink back away from him against the wall. This time his face is as cold as his voice and just as emotionless. He reaches over me and unlocks one of my wrists. God, he's tall. Must be at least 6'5". It's kind of intimidating. He reaches over and unlocks my other wrist. I shove him backward as hard as i can, using all my weight. He falls backwards, landing hard on the ground. I kick him in the face, knocking him unconsious.
"Yukito!" I drop down by his side and gently take his head in my hands. He's bleeding from the temple. "Yukito...."
"run... kasumi... you have to get away...." he whispers. I can tell he's fighting to stay consious.
"Not without you." I reach down and pull my pocketknife out of my shoe. I quickly cut the ropes around Yukito's wrists, put the knife back, and wrapped Yukito's arm around my shoulder, pulling him to his feet.
