err...hello
Fall Memories

It was my favorite time of year: Fall! The leaves were beautiful shades of yellow, brown and even red. Where I live the trees are taller than some buildings and there are so many leaves that when people take a walk it's like walking in a sea of leaves.

Some of my favorite memories happened in Fall. Once I was with my little brother, Eiji, and he was jumping in the leaves hearing a satisficing CRUNCH every time. Then he looked at me and said, "Yumi, why do leaves crunch?" I told him that the leaves crunch because they were eating him slowly and soon he would disappear. My poor little four year old brother started yelling and running our house screaming. I slowly walked home laughing at how Eiji screamed. So high-pitched and girlish.

Another time, when Eiji was seven, we were raking up all the leaves in the backyard and there was one pile of leaves larger than a car. I told Eiji that there are people that lived in the piles of leaves and at night they took little kids. He didn't believe me, so I dared him to go out at night and stand next to the pile of leaves for a minute. When he left the house, i was already in the pile of leaves waiting for him. Eiji stood next to the pile of leaves and hummed a song to himself. Then I reached out, grabbed his arms, and pulled him into the leaves. He screamed that familiar high-pitched scream and peed his pants. Again I walked back into the house chuckling to myself.

All that was five years ago. I don't play pranks like that on Eiji anymore, but I always laugh when I think about them. It was a nice Fall day as I was walking home. Soon I came across a huge pile of leaves the size of a car. I knew what was going to happen. Suddenly someone grabbed my arms and pulled me into the pile of leaves. It was Eiji.

"Did I scare you?" He asked enthustically.

"It's hard to scare me with my own trick," I replied and gave him a bear hug.

"EWWWWW!" He yelled. "Get off of me!!"

We walked home in the beautiful sea of yellow, brown, and red. "Ya know," I said to Eiji, "because you tried to scare me, I'm going to think up an even better prank"
And there he went, screaming high-pitched, running home and me chuckling and walkiing home slowly.
