(AUTHORS NOTE: This story is purely fictional. As are all names and actions. Any relation to other stories or real life is purely coincedental.)
Once upon a time in a village between the hills, there was a girl. She wasnt too young to be called little and yet she wasnt that old to be called a woman. She was a very beautiful girl, her hair was always brushed, and her clothes, as old as they were, were always clean. She lived with her mother and younger brother, and for the most part, was a big help. But sometimes curiosity got the best of her, and she paid the consequenses. This story is one of those times.
One day her mother sent her out for potatoes at the market. She got to the market and there was a hooded cloaked person in front of the potatoes. The girl had never seen one before so she ducked behind some crates across the road, her eyes peeled on the cloaked figure. It didnt walk, it floated over to the Salesman behind the potatoes. It took out something that she couldn't quite see, because he was hiding it behind his cloak. Whatever it was, once the salesman saw it, his smile faded and his gleaming eyes went shifty. He lifted a tapestry behind his counter, the figure nodded and put his hand back into his pocket. He must have missed the pocket though, because something glinted in the girls eye as it fell passed the figures knee. The figure disappeared behind the tapestry, and the salesmans smile had come back.
The girl had to see what it was that fell, and where the figure disappeared to. She picked up a nearby rock (she had excellent aim you see.) and threw it at a potato sitting in the front of the counter. It fell, another one fell, and another. Soon the whole front side of potaotes were on the ground. As the salesman was cursing his way around the counter to pick it all up, the girl got to her feet and ran to where the figure stood. She saw a little metal rectangle on the ground, which she immediatly picked up. She flipped it over, and over. She looked at the top and bottom and sides. It was just a hallow metal rectangle. Ideas raced through her mind. Was it a key? Had she seen it been used as a key? Does it have to touch light? She moved it into the light. Nothing. She opened her mouth and breathed on it. Nothing. What was it?!
"Oi!" She jumped. The salesman was staring at her, his potatoes all neat and tidy on his counter again. "You-uh- you wanting in now?" Okay, so she wasnt quite in trouble. All she had to do was get herself in, hopefully this guy wasnt too smart.
"Yes." she said, half thankful she didnt have to lie.
The salesman put his hands on his hips. "Well, where is it?" She showed him the metal rectangle. "Yeah, now wheres the sign"
"I forgot it" She tried.
He pushed his eyebrows together. "How far you come?"
"A long ways, I'm sure youv'e never heard of it." This was getting to be easier than she thought.
The salesman crossed his arms over his giant belly. "Try me."
"Look sir. I dont know who you think you are, but I have come on a long and hard road. I'm tired and hungry and cold. Now can you please let me in as I have business to attend to?"
"All right. All right. Just doin' my job miss." He said as he opened his palm. She put the metal rectangle in his hand. He took it and put his index fingers on the top and bottom and pressed them together. His face glowed and, satisfied, he handed it back to her. She looked at it. On one side there were some blue lines going long ways and two lines going short ways. The girl told herself that if she had more time with it she coulda figured it out. The salesman lifted the tapestry and she ducked inside.
It was dark so she let her eyes adjust before moving on. She found herself in a dark tunnel, lit every once in a while by lamps. She put the sign in her pocket and started walking. She walked for what seemed like hours.
Until she heard a voice. It was a mans voice, dark. And hypnotizing. She couldnt hear what he was saying, so she stopped and closed her eyes, so she could concentrate. It wasn't english, could she try and point it? The syllables were going by too slowly to seperate word from word. Deciding that she would see if the voice was coming from the end of the tunnel, she opened her eyes. But she wasnt in the tunnel anymore.
She was in a room like nothing she was used to. The light was low, but bright for coming from two candles in oppisite corners and a fireplace. There was no furniture in the room save for a bed with sheets and a bear skin blanket. She had seen candles and beds before. But the fire was burning without wood or coal making it, it was just flames. And the wall the bed was on was covered in pictures of two lovers. The pictures were so graphic that they sent a chill down her spine. She put her arms in front of her, but she felt skin. She looked down, and didnt see the tattered dress she was wearing a second ago. It was replaced by a a piece of cloth that came down one shoulder and stopped just in front of her breasts. Another cloth was wrapped around her hips as a skirt. She tugged at the bottom of the skirt but stopped once she saw her arms. Starting at her fingers and going up her arms was drawn a vine with leaves. She followed it up her arms, below her collar bone, between her breasts seperating at her belly button and going down the sides of her legs to stop at her toes.
She stood there and tried to think of the logical thing to do. She could scream, but who and where would anybody be near enough to hear. She could leave, but she hadnt come through a door, and there were no windows. She looked around quickly, looking for a tapestry that could be hiding a door. She turned around to look behind her, only to find herself staring straight into the eyes of a man about her age. All rational thought she had before flew out of her mind like a caged bird set free. His eyes werent brown or blue or green. They were orange.
They werent like an devils eyes glowing kind of orange. The color of his eyes was just orange. She couldnt see his hair because it was covered in a hood. He spoke with a voice that was dark. And hypnotizing. "I have been waiting for this night with much anticipation." More chills went up her spine.
"Really?" She was trying to collect herself enough to speak with a calm voice. It wasnt working out too well.
"Yes my lover. I am sure you are ready?" His cloak fell slowly off his shoulders, even though there was no draft and no hand to do it. It did it by itself. But she was too busy looking at his eyes to notice this.
"Ready? Ready for what?" She was breathing harder, suddenly remembering what she was wearing, and those pictures on the wall.
"For the best night of your life." And with that, he leaned into a kiss. She didnt kiss him back, she even tried to back away. But she forgot about the bed behind her and she fell back. He followed her, advancing. She fell into him melting all of her defenses. They spent the next while making love.
When she awoke the next morning he was nowhere to be found. What she did find was a door, and her tattered dress was on her again, her skin clean of any vines. She got up, and peeked her head through the door. She was looking down the tunnel that was lit every once in a while by lamps. She started walking, this time looking for doors or other passage ways, anything. After she had gone a ways and not finding anything, she turned around to check on her progress. She either couldnt see the door anymore, or it had disappeared, because she only saw tunnel. She turned back, only to be behind the tapestry the salesman had let her through. There was daylight peeking in a little. And voices. Angry ones. "the potato man must have ripped off somebody" She thought. She lifted the tapestry and ducked under, trying to get by quickly and quietly. But the instant she stepped back into civilization, the angry voices stopped. She looked over at the potato man. He along with another girl her age and the man with the orange eyes were staring right at her. Her feet froze and she couldnt move.
Trying her very best to make it sound like she did nothing wrong, she managed to say "Hi?"
"What is your name?" Said the potato salesman.
"Where did you come from?" Said the other girl.
"How did you get in?" The now un-hooded man said, finally showing his tuft of brown hair.
"What did you see?" the potato salesman took a step closer.
"Did you touch anything?" The other girl followed him.
"How far down that tunnel did you go?" The orange eyed man stayed where he was. Her knees began to buckle under al the questions.
"She obvisously has no idea what we're talking about." The potato man backed off and returned to his counter to aid his customers.
"What if she's the wrong girl?" The cloaked man asked nobody in particular.
"She IS the wrong girl!" The other girl did not back off, she just stood there with arms crossed glaring at her.
"Wrong girl for what?" She managed to say, somehow finding courage to stand up to the girl in front of her. All three stopped and stared at her. Her her back was now melted, she could not move.
Finally the cloaked orange eyed man put his hands on her shoulders and said very clearly, "Who are you and where did you come from?"
The other girl threw her hand up in the air and groaned. "What difference does it make? She obviously screwed everything up!"
"She will tell us and she will not be harmed." The cloaked man said. "I give my word." The other girl seemed to have no other choice. The potato salesman, sending away his last customer, put one hand on his counter and the other hand on his hip.
After a deep breath she finally said "My name is Kira. I come from the house by the three creeks," she pointed in the general direction of her house. Looking into the orange eyes of the man in front of her, she continued. "I saw you give him something and I wanted to know what it was. When I was looking at it, he let me in."
"And you just showed up in that room not knowing what you were doing there" The cloaked man finished her story. Kira put her head down in shame and stared at her feet.
"Great," said the potato man, after a settling pause. "Now what?"
"I say we dig it out of her!" Said the other girl.
The cloaked man removed his shoulders. "Nonsense! She could die!"
"Good!" the other girl half chuckled. "Serves her right for sneaking into other peoples business!"
"That is enough!" The cloaked man yelled, nearly deafening Kiras ears. "The ritual has already happened, theres nothing we can do now."
"Well...," The poato man was stroking his chin. "We could take the matter to the counsel." After another awkward pause, the potato man, the other girl, and the hood cloaked man got into a close circle. Before discussing the matter they took one last look at Kira.
"Absolutley not." was what Kira heard before their voices discussed, and then they went quieter, and finally stopped. All at once, they turned away and went seperate directions. The potato man looked determined, the other girl ecstatic, the cloaked man unhappy. Kira was pulled from her comfort spot by the potato man, and behind the tapestry. They went to the edge of the sunlight and he turned her toward him.
"We are going to take you to the counsel" He said matter of factly. "You must understand you are not the one that was supposed to be in that room. Now there might be a chance that your baby will die inside you and therefore draining you."
"Wait-BABY?!" Kira backed up to the wall of the tunnel behind her. Her hands dug into the wall, as if she was going to claw her way out.
"You'll be fine if the counsel decides its meaningless, everything will be set back to normal and you wont have to worry!" The potato man tried to sound enthusiastic.
"And what if they dont?" Kiras nails were bending backward.
"Well, for the next nine months you'll know not go sneaking around." Kira was not happy with that. She flew at him, he ducked under the tapestry. Before she could get there, the cloaked man blocked her way through, and pushed her back farther into the tunnel.
"How are you?" He asked her.
"Well, I have to go home and tell my mother 'Hey, I have to leave you for a while because I'm pregnant' How do you THINK I AM?!" Kira caught her breath. He just kept staring at her. She thought maybe she should stop being vain. "Are you in a lot of trouble?"
"I dont know. I suppose I should have been able to tell a difference between a magik and a non-magik." Kira thought it better to just know what he was talking about than to ask a troubled man more questions. "Why do you have to go home?"
"Well, I do have to tell my mother that I will be gone, and grab some clothes..."
He laughed. "Oh you really have no idea do you?" And he went under the tapestry, only to be replaced by the other girl. She came in with a glare in her eyes.
"I hope they dig it out of you and you die." She crossed her arms.
"Exactly what makes you think that yours would be all the more healthier?"
She laughed. "Oh there is so much you dont know." And she went out of the tunnel.
"Why does everybody keep saying that?" Kira thought as she followed the other girl out of the tunnel and to a horse drawn cart the potato man had set up. The cloaked man was "out getting supplies." The potato man offered Kira over to meet the horses. "Meet Lion and Bear."
Kira suddenly realized she didnt know anybody elses names. "And yours?"
The potato man slapped a palm to his forehead. "Oh my land! You dont know anything! Well, my name is Jonathan." He bowed. "That's Ronna." He gestured towards the other girl. "And the..uh... guy that..you uh...-" Kira nodded as she understood he meant the orange eyed man. "He's Nathaniel."
Kira wanted to know more. "And Ronna and Nathaniel were supposed to-"
Jonathan raised his hand for silence. "Those are not words to be spoken in a non-magik place. Your baby was kind of important."
"What do you mean was?"
"Like I said, Those are not words to be spoken in a non-magik place."
"Well, can you at least tell me what is so important about this baby?"
Jonathan stared deep at her. "Do you want the world to end?"
"No." Kira thought this was a dumb question.
"Then that baby was supposed to be in Ronnas womb, not yours."
Kira managed to get into a comfy position in the cart, despite Ronna's complaining. Finally Ronna resorted to laying on her stomach and using her arm to rest her head on. They were in a long wooded covered cart, while Nathaniel and Jonathan were driving the horses. Ronna was sound asleep. Kira couln't think of sleeping after all that had happened. Technically she had been gon for over a day now, and she had no idea it was going to take to get there. And what if it took even longer to get in to the see the almighty counsel? She thought of home, her mother standing in the doorway waiting for Kira to appear from behind the trees and telling her a horrible story of why she hadnt been home for two days. Kiras heart dropped as she tried to imagine the exact phrase she would have to use to tell her mother she was pregnant. Her mother had jsut sent her out for potatoes, and she came back with a child. She never intended that to happen, and she knew that her mother would never understand that. She closed her eyes as she let a single tear drop from her eye and trickle down the corner of her nose. Raising her hand to wipe it away, another tear fell out of the outer corner of her other eye. She attempted to wipe it away also, but a hand grasped hers and a cloth gently wiped it away before it got to her chin. She opened her eyes and caught a pair of orange eyesstaring at her face. Kira smiled, "You know your'e wiping a non-magik tear there." Nathaniel only smiled as he put the hankey away and sat across from Kira. Kira eyed the rest of the cart, Ronna was now on her back and snoring. Loudly. Jonathan was on her side across from Ronna, arms crossed and his head bobbing every which way. "Shouldnt he be with the horses?" Kira mildly panicked, expecting a good reason.
"Lion and Bear have been there plenty of times, we only had to show them to the road, they can take it from here." Kira wished she did too. "Dont worry about the counsel, you'll do fine. Just let Jonathan Ronna and I do the talking."
"Why are you so nice to me? I'm not the one who's supposed to be holding your baby."
Nathaniel smirked. "Because you are the one holding my baby. I may be magik Kira, but that doesnt mean I'm going to leave you alone because of something I did."
"But you did what you were supposed to do. I'm the one who did something wrong." Kira wished he would not talk like this. She half didnt want a person who wasnt even human to be in her life. And the other half, she was used to being punished, she could get used to a baby, she only just hoped that her mother will help.
"Not necissarily, I was supposed to speak with you in magik language, not human language."
"What made you decide on...human language?" Kira felt weird saying that, why couldnt he just say english?
"Because english is easier to speak. Magish is slower and all about the voice. English is all about the meaning of words."
"How do you know so much about a world that you want nothing to do with?"
"We're taught about humans, so that we can learn to avoid you."
"Why are we so horrible?"
"Because you do not know."
"Know what?"
"Everything. If you dont fully understand something you become afraid of it, and then later it ends up being destroyed or extinct."
"Did you ever think that maybe you could combine with us and we could all live happily?"
"Yes, that is how the ritual came about. Every 10,000 years a magik man from the north and a magik woman from the south travel to a human town and raise a child in their world. Then when the child comes of age it is presented to the humans as a peace offering."
"What do we do with the child?"
"In the past you have ignored it, leaving it die alone, with no hope of peace."
"Well, if you dont like what we do with it, why keep up the ritual?"
"Because magiks are taught to never give up hope. If we believe in something long and hard enough, then it happens."
"Has it worked in the past?"
Nathaniel thought for a second. "Yes, as far as I know. I always hoped that I would meet a beautiful human to live with me in our world."
Kira couldnt help but smirk. "So that explains why youv'e been so nice to me."
Nathaniel blushed. "Yeah. Well, I'm uh- going to go...uh, watch the horses." He got up and took the reigns. He didnt speak to her for the rest of the trip.
Kira awoke to someone wildly shaking her shoulder. "Hallo? Good morning! We have arrived!" It was Jonathan. Kira stretched her arms. "Wheres here?"
"You can call it the city, its name is magish."
They had stopped next to a tall building that was half colums. Standing on each of the columns, statues stood looking down on the city below. On the other side of the street were closed up shops, the vendors cleaning their counters. Jonathan took Kiras arm and led her through. Kira passed all sorts of things: Jewelry, blankets, cups, frogs, she wanted to stop at the sweets but Jonathan pulled her on. Kira noticed wuite a few people with orange eyes, but there were other colors too. Blue, and yellow and purple eyes were also staring at her. All the merchandise wern't just sitting neatly on the counters or hung in a hole, they were floating. Finally Jonathan stopped in front of a vendor woman, selling little wads of dirt. "Kira, meet my wife, Iris." Iris was rather beautiful, she had the beginning of crows feet in the corners of her brown eyes, and her hair was a combination of red and white, making it look rather pink in the proper light.
"Jonathan! Not another one! Our production is fine!" She turned towards Kira. "I'm sorry dear. but whatever he has told you about us being interested I'm telling you right now, once spring comes around our flounderers will be beautiful. Thank you for your time!"
"IRIS! This young lady has had a very hard day, she needs food and rest and then I'll tell you about it." Jonathan was suprisingly calm.
Iris put her heands on her hips. "Jonathan, I am here day and night raising our two children, what makes you think I have enough for another mouth"
Jonathan was still calm. "Iris, Nathaniel needs her to be rested for tomorrow."
Iris dropped her hands as her eyes got wide. Her face became one big question mark. Not taking her eyes off Jonanthan, Iris turned towards Kira. In a hypnotized kind of voice she said "Come along child, you need rest."
Kira tried to protest. "I dont want to be any trouble-"
"Oh come come!" Iris broke from her trance. "You need rest before you see the counsel tomorrow." With that, Iris shooed her into a door.
On the other side was a giant room with two doors in the far corner. There was a stove, a table set for four and an old couch all pushed up to the walls. In the middle was a giant rug that was occupied by two children. If Kira hadn't heard Iris complain of raising two kids, she would have never guessed that they were related to Iris and Jonathan. Both parents were a little plump and had big personalities, whereas these kids were scrawny and looked like they had no life but each other. On was a dark haired, blue eyed boy. The other was a blonde purple eyed girl. When Kira steppd inside, the only turned their heads towards her and stared at her. Kira felt like she was a book being read by their eyes. Iris came in and shut the door. "You two! We have a guest! Set the table, Daddy will be here any minute!"
Kira had a wonderful evening. The kids glowed in their odd way when Jonathan walked in and they stayed that way untill he dragged them off to bed. They ate chicken and something Kira hoped was corn. After dinner the kids played with floating spheres on the rug as Jonathan had (again, Kira could only guess) a whiskey. Iris brought a pillow and a heavy blanket for Kira to sleep on the couch. "How do you do with the dark?" Iris asked.
"I'm fine."
"Well, do you mind a small light? The kids are still afraid." Iris turned to the middle of the rug, clapped her hands together and mutered something. A small blue flame came out of her hands and she gently set it down on the rug. It stayed. Satisfied with her work, Iris made her way to her bedroom.
"How did you-?" Kira started.
"Good night dear! Try and be back around four o'clock, I would like you to get some sleep for tomorrow." She closed the door. Kiras eyes went back to the blue flame. She tried to go over what tomorrow would be like. "Going to the counsel, Don't talk" That was about it. She was about to give up and try to get some sleep, when she heard the front door open. "Kira?" It was Nathaniel.
She sat up. "What are you doing here?" Kira did not want to wake Jonathan or Iris, especially the kids.
"I had to see you." He came in and closed the door
"Why?"
"Because you need to know something, do you have a um..." Nathaniel soflty crossed the room. He was wearing different clothes under his hooded cloak. "a jacket?"
"No." Kira only brought herself.
Nathaniel went back outside, and two minutes later, he came back with a smaller hooded cloak. He tossed it to her and whispered "Let's go." Kira swirled it around, tied it at the neck and followed Nathaniel out into the night.
Nathaniel walked rather quickly and Kira felt she was practically running to keep up with him. He walked past the shops out into the street, took a left, and followed the street up a hill. Nathaniel took a right and they climbed the hill. Nathaniel was very bent over, Kira was almost climbing with her hands and feet. When they reached the top, Kira lost what was left of her breath. Below them was a giant pool. To the left was a waterfall, coming from where they were and down to the pool. The moonlight was making it a deep blue water, sparkling lighter blue. Nathaniel took her hand and started climbing down. They reached a rock that pointed out 5 feet above the pool, and Kira sat down in awe. Nathaniel sat next to her.
"It's beautiful." Kira said breaking the silence. Nathaniel smiled. After a longer pause, he stood.
"I have come here only once. I was just 5 years old then. I was with my grandfather, at the time he was head of the counsel. He brought me here and told me something that I cannot tell you, for it is between him and I." Nathaniel was just staring blankly into the pool. Kira stood up and looked at the reflection of the moon in his eyes. She took his hand. "Here he threw me into the pool, and I knew how to swim, but for some reason, something grabbed me and pulled me under. I heard a voice. It told me that I would do something for my grandfather and my people, but that something I truly deeply loved would get in the way." Nathaniel turned towards her, and put his hands on her arms. "When I swam out of the pool, I found myself behind the waterfall. I tripped and hit my head, and I woke up in a cottage upon the oppisite hill. I was in a school that trains boys not only about being a magik but being a candidate for the ritual. It had been built in preperation for yesterday. Everynight I heard that voice until I came of age, and that night that I was with you, it was gone." He brushed her hair away from her face. "I dont know who you are, but I know that somehow, I was destined to find you." Kira smiled. Nathaniel sort of chuckled. He backed away, and took to undoing his cloak. "Now, care to go for a little swim?" His cloak came off, along with his shirt.
Kira sort of blushed. "I dont have anything else to change into."
"Then just go in your dress, we'll change you back at Jonathans." Nathaniel said as he got ready to jump. He swung his arms getting ready to go and Kira playfully pushed him in. He fell, arms and legs sprawled all over the place untill he hit the water. He came back up, a shocked look on his face, Kira merely laughing. He urged her to come in. She hesitated. He urged some more. She jumped. She held her breath ready for the water. The woosh of water hit her, and she began paddling to get back up to the air. She hit air, and looked around for Nathaniel. He wasn't anywhere. She called for him. He answered, but all she saw was waterfall. He poked his head out from behind it. She smiled and swam to shore, so she could get to the place where he was. He offered a hand as she slipped on a rock, and he helped her into the little cave. Kira came in and looked around. With a wall, them and the waterfall, there was almost no room. Nathaniel just stared at Kira.
"I can't take it any more." He said.
"What?"
"You are too beautiful."
"Well too bad, you just have to deal with it."
"It's going to be so hard...."
"What is?" But he didnt reply. He just kissed her. He kissed her hard. She put her arms around his neck and fell into him. He pushed her up to the wall, and she moaned with the shock of the cold wall, which Nathaniel only loved.
After a while he broke and said "It's three thirty, you have to be back by four." He jumped through the waterfall. Kira stood there for a second, she kinda wanted more, and she was shocked that he didn't go farther. But he was right, Iris did tell her to be back by four. She sighed and jumped through the waterfall.
Nathaniel reached the top and was startled by somebody standing there. "What are you doing here?"
"Making sure you did it."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because she knew how to swim. She did start calling my name, but she was keeping herself up fine."
"She's a strong girl. You can't leave it to mother nature anymore."
"Look, if you think its so easy-"
"I can't because I didn't do it. You have to do it soon, you know that right?"
"Yes I do."
"Then whats holding you back?" Nathaniel ignored this as he heard Kira climbing up the rocks.
"Look, I'll do it just get out of here." He turned around and smiled at Kira. "God, you are slow."
"I wouldv'e been faster if you hadn't left so abruptly." Kira snapped back. She shivered in her wet dress. Nathaniel picked up her cloak, and gently threw it around her. He moved to the front and tied the string at her neck.
"What's wrong?" Kira could tell his mind was other places.
"Huh? oh, nothing." He swirled around and offered his hand. "Come on, lets you take you home."
She took it. He led her back to Jonathan and Iris'.
Kira woke up the next day, almost too excited and scared for the counsel. Iris was up making breakfast on the stove. "Well, good mornin' darlin'!" She said as she turned around and saw Kira sitting up on the old couch. "Jonathan is waiting for you outside, but you can have some breakfast before going out there." She put a plate on the table. After last nights dinner she wasn't too anxious for breakfast. But she ate it nonetheless.
As she was eating, Iris would pass her and "tsk" and shake her head. When she was finished, Iris stood before her. "I'm sorry dear, but I cannot let you go out there in that old dress." She brought her into her room, and she opened her closet. "Here." She brought out a white dress. "It was mine for my wedding day." She tossed it to Kira and left the room. Jonathan came in "Where is she?"
"Getting a new dress." Jonathan poked his head out, and Nathaniel came in.
He came in and kissed Iris on the cheek. "How are you?" He tried.
"Don't 'How are you?' me! You know the rules, how could you drag this poor girl into this?"
Nathaniel stole a sausage. "Good to see you too Iris." He smiled as he bit into the sausage. There was a click and everybody's eyes went to the door. Kira was beautiful in the dress. This dress was square cut around the neck, halfway down the arms it cut off into fabric that flowed past her fingers. The bodice fit her perfectly and before it went into the skirt, there was a tie that sat on her left hip. The skirt was as flowy as her sleeves. Nathaniel crossed to her, and held her by the shoulders. "Remember when I said you were too beautiful?"
"Yes."
"I was kidding, you are a goddess." He kissed her cheek. Iris came with a hair tie and tied her hair back at the nape of her neck. Jonathan stood, "Well, are we ready to go?" Kira smiled and started walking towards the door, followed by Nathaniel and Jonathan.
They walked past the vendors and crossed the street to the tall building. Ronna was standing against a column. "We have a few minutes." She said. Nathaniel took Kiras hand and took her to the other side of the building. He stopped and pushed her against the wall and kissed her hard, his hands on her cheeks. He broke for a second and rested his forehead on hers, catching his breath. Kira was beyond shocked.
"Whatever happens," She said. "I will never forget you."
"Neither will I." Nathaniel whispered back. Kira chocked in some sudden imense pain coming from her belly. She looked down and saw a dagger spilling blood all over her white dress. Nathaniel backed away. She bent over in pain and looked at him.
"wh-wh-"
"Why?" Nathaniels orange eyes were in so much pain. "Because you weren't supposed to interfere." He couldnt believe what he just did. She fell towards the ground, and he caught her. "I'm sorry. I am so sorry" He cried. Kira was losing her breath, but she put a hand on his cheek. He held it close. "Please forgive me." He pleaded. She mouthed the words "I love you." And her hand dropped.
Nathaniel walked from around the corner. Jonathan and Ronna were standing there, looking at him.
"Did you do it?" Ronna asked.
"Yes." He said in a low voice.
"Let me see it." Ronna said in a demanding voice. She held out her hand. Nathaniel took out the dagger stained with Kiras blood and placed it in Ronnas hands. Ronna held it sacrificially and took it into the building, Jonathan and Nathaniel following her. They appeared in a dark room, where the only thing that was lit was a small table. "Your majesties." She placed the dagger on the table. "We have brought you the blood of the one who has interfered. She is dead, magiks do not have to fear the spawn of the succubus anymore." "Amen" said Jonathan and Nathaniel.
