The sun shines brightly above as Terry exits the cave, blindfold still wrapped around her eyes.
[They can’t see me like this…they’ll ask questions…questions I can’t answer just yet….] She sighs and combs her fingers through her hair as she heads to the shore. She kneels over the water and stares at her reflection for a bit before slipping the cloth down around her neck. She flutters her eyes open to only see that her eyes are no longer translucent hazel-gold but translucent yellow. The same colour as the eyes of the heartless. She sighs and lies back onto the sand, replacing the blindfold to stop the burning sensation.
[I guess this is how the heartless feel in purity…their eyes must burn ravenously…heads pounding relentlessly…it must drive them mad. The reason why they attack those pure…the light of the heart blinds them, just like how the sun blinds me now. A pure light they can’t have. They want the hearts for themselves…they want a heart.] She lazily drifts off into an empty slumber, tired from having the two visions in a row and the magic use. She wakes around twilight and unties the blindfold, retying it around her wrist. [Better head back….] She stretches and heads to her boat, setting off for the hangout island.
She hides the boat and quietly heads to the opposite shore. She notices the sun setting and the three on the small island attached by a bridge. Sora and Kairi sit on the trunk of the paopu tree while Riku leans against it.
[They look perfect together….] She gazes at the scene, the empty feeling she has learned to ignore swelling in her chest. It is all too heart-warming and hear-wrenching all at once. She sighs, looking away and sees that her boat has been tied to the dock.
“Terry…?” She freezes and panics slight at the sound of her name, inches away form her boat.
I could’ve sworn I was home free…. She turns to see the three staring at her. “Uhh…hey guys, what’s up?”
“Where have you been…?” Kairi bursts, squeezing her.
“I was around the place….” She says vaguely. “Why…?”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Sora asks.
“Do I need to?” She says a bit coldly.
“Hunh…Terry…?” Kairi pulls away and looks at her in shock.
“Do I need to tell you everything I do? Am I not entitled to do things on my own? After all, you three have your secrets I never ask about?” Her eyes close halfway, a distant look in them. “You who have seen what was never suppose to be….” She utters as if under someone’s control, like a mindless puppet. Her cols and distant look sends chills down their spines. She quickly snaps herself out of the daze, her head pounding. “I have to go…” She mutters weakly and turns to her boat, when someone grabs her arm. “Look, I’m sorry if I sounded rude, I didn’t mean to…. I’m sorry about everything….” She mutters the last sentence to herself and turns to them smiling. “I just need time to think about stuff….”
“If you say so….” They let go of her and she rubs her wrist from the tight grip.
“Sorry about pouncing on you earlier Riku, I was just a bit upset.”
“A bit…? You tackled me to the ground and started ranting at me!”
“Okay, I was a little more than upset….”
“A little more than…?”
“Fine, whatever, I was upset.” She finally agrees. [Don’t want to get into a rut with them….] “I wonder how Keira is doing….” She thinks aloud, looking at nothing in particular.
“Keira…?”
“You guys forget? I told you before; she is the girl I lived with before I came here. I lived with her family and they took me in. We traveled to all the worlds together….” She says fondly as joyful memories play in her head. The others stand uneasily, watching her reminisce about her past. Kairi nudges Sora lightly, unable to tell Terry. Sora panics and signals Riku to do it, who in turn pins Kairi. This little game goes on for a bit and Terry notices. “Uhm…you guys okay there…?” They stop, caught red handed and laugh nervously.
“Well you see, Terry, the reason why we were gone for so long….” Kairi tries starting off. Terry listens curiously.
“We were…well mainly me…I was out saving other worlds while look for Kairi and Riku when the heartless attacked. Riku and Kairi helped a lot though.” Sora says hesitantly. She cocks and eyebrow at them and they explain to her, the whole journey form start to finish. Everything falls silent as they wait for her reaction.
[So they’re openly telling me all this…? Better pass it off as a way to make me feel better or something….I don’t want them getting suspicious of me.] A small smile cracks on her face and it slowly grows from light chuckling to laughter. “Real smooth guys, real smooth! I actually almost believed you for a second! You all are either pulling my leg or trying to make me feel better. Well I hope it’s the later. Thanks for trying if it is.”
“But….” Kairi begins, distraught by Terry’s reaction, but is stopped by Sora.
“Why don’t you believe us?”
“You guys don’t remember taunting me like everyone else? I never really cared, but, Riku had to be the worst! His remarks really got to me….” The three stand in shame as the slowly remember, but are still a bit disappointed with her. She realizes they are sorry and sighs. “Look…truthfully, I need some time to think about it all…. Having three people randomly believe you is great and all but if it’s a tick…it would really hurt….” She says solemnly. They nod in understanding and they all head back to the main island.
The next day, they all head to school and are greeted by a lot of gossiping and giggling.
[That’s right…no one believes they ever left….] Terry thinks as the girls flock to Sora and Riku. Kairi slowly boils into a rage and is about to kill them when Terry stops her.
“Let me at ‘em!” She repeats angrily, over and over again.
“Chill out Kairi, I’ll take care of it.”
“How…?” Terry just smirks knowingly and disappears into the crowd of rabid fan girls. “Hey Sheila…do you want to know the latest cutest couple…?” She whispers to a girl.
“Who..?” She asks excitedly.
“Sora and Kairi….”
“No way…really…?” She gasps and Terry nods. “I’ve got to tell Selphie!” She squeals, running to Selphie who runs to another girl in turn. The chain goes on until all the girls are congradulating Sora and Kairi.
“Happy…?” Terry yawns lazily as if nothing happened. Kairi glomps and thanks her repeatedly. “Okay, okay, I get it! Now go hug you boyfriend not me!” She says in mock annoyance. Kairi giggles and heads to Sora blushing softly. He holds her hand gently and kisses her on the cheek before leading her into the school. Terry sighs and looks to see Riku is still stuck in the sea of crazed girls. She climbs a nearby tree and sits on a low branch.
“Hey, you think you can handle this from now on?” She nudges him with her shoe. He shrugs. “You probably are still use to it form before you left…. You’ll live…hopefully.” Terry snickers at his annoyed expression. She jumps out of the tree and grab his elbow, dragging him through the crowd. “Alright girls, we get the picture! But sadly, hot shot here, like the rest of you, has to get to class. You can see him around school, class, town, after school, lunch, where ever, I don’t care, just let him get to class in one piece right now!” She yells above the squeals which soon turn to groans. They follow him to his class and then their own. The girls in the same class giggle and sigh when he either looks in their general direction or is busy in his own thoughts through out the class time. Terry sighs in exasperation. [This is going to be a loooooooong year….]
