Wow! I had no idea how much paperwork (both cyber and printed text) was involved in graduate school applications. My younger son is a animal sciences/pre-vet senior at Clemson. He and many others in his class got very short notice on the first big deadline for graduate (veterinary) school applications.
A whole 2-1/2 week notice for the completion of a 20-page application online (a main clearinghouse site used by most of the vet schools in the US), current official transcripts to be sent off, several supplementary applications required by most of the schools (which is repetitive info from the online clearinghouse application), and signing up for the GRE general and GRE-Biology exams. sweatdrop
What an ordeal! All of this and maintaining his grades and work in his senior classes. He asked me to help him because all of these applications wanted information as far back as high school! He's nearly completed college. I can understand if the information from high school was animal-related (he's done volunteer work with the local Humane Society since before 8th grade and with in a vets' office since 11th grade). But they wanted his SAT scores, honors and awards, class rank, and extra-curricular activities as well! Good thing Moms usually keep records of those things.
Anyway, we managed to get through all this paper madness, beating the deadline with a day to spare. Through all of that, he also had two tests (both strong B's), completed two major papers, and continued his research of his senior seminar project. eek He seems to thrive on pressure. Ah, to be younger again... not on a bet! blaugh
Be thinking about him as he's currently studying for his GRE-general exam on October 10; the GRE-Biology exam is on November 3. As many have heard, it is harder to get into veterinary schools than it is for medical schools. The reason is that there are only 27 vet schools in this entire country. In most states, there is at least one medical school, if not more. Hopefully, he can score well on his GRE exams (his current GPA is 3.44) and get accepted to at least 1 of the 8 schools he's applying to. *crossing my fingers* biggrin
