School had no good bits to it. I wound up in fights every freaking week, no way out of it.The idea of fighting had to become second nature in order for my survival, so I studied combat simulations, experimented with fist configurations, battle plans, anything having to do with battle I studied and expeimented with.I would never fight with a weapon, all I began to do was take away an opponent's advantage and make sure that if I was winning, it was do to an evened out brawl.Of course, I did cause myself to gain an advantage because I used my brain a lot more than my opponent did. This became the reason I would appear calm during any battle if not joyful, I knew that as soon as my opponent would move, I could interpret and come up with a counter for their strike instantaneously.
Thanks to my record, I had to find a refuge needless to say.A mental refuge where I was able to be or at least feel like I was at home.Games and books were my choices, and in that entered a friend that I couldn't trade for anything.A simple chance meeting and subject brought us together....
On the busride home I overheard a kid bragging about his "Gaming Ability" telling everyone that he could beat anyone on the bus.I kept my mouth shut on that day because I wasn't feeling up to any dispute.A couple days later the same kid starts popping off on how quickly he was able to win "Ape Escape" and continued on his rant that he was better than anyone on the bus in gaming skill,"I finished in a meager three days too.,"I said to the braggart. He told me,"Yeah right, you couldn't possibly have finished it as quickly as I did."I returned with a smirk,"You know, how about instead of bragging on the bus about how good we are, we have a little contest to see how quickly we can finish 'Ape Escape' in a week.No lying whatsoever."He said with a grin,"Okay but don't cry when you lose."As we shook hands I said to him,"Funny you stole the words right out of my mouth,uuuummm......I'm sorry I guess I never got your name.""Fox,"he returned.
"Skold," I said before I sat down beside him.
A week later we wound up with the exact same amount of completion on "Ape Escape" nothing more, nothing less."Alright, we tied, well I've been needing someone to challenge me in videogames, why don't we become friends,"I asked Fox eagerly awaiting his answer."Okay,"Fox replied with a spark of excitment on his face, he told me where he lived, and I asked Dad for a ride as soon as I could.
Ever since that moment in Second grade, we've been friends.Even though we've been separated, we keep in contact every week.We hope to be reunited soon to exchange stories of our past and play against eachother once more, although we know all too well who will win. It's an utter tie everytime we battle.
Thanks to him survival was made easy, we'd bicker and fight over who'd won any match, but that only showed how we thought of each other, as brothers and not just friends.
