Domo Backpack ate my head....
Crazy adventures in this world we call, GAIA.
Halloween Events (Not the Halloween event)
A very interesting PM during Halloween
I think she's banned now because her Profile can't be accessed anymore...but it might not have been activated anyways. Happy reading...

That link, which has been blurred out when clicked, sends you to a login screen that looks like Gaia Online but it isn't because it contains a different URL. However, when you copy & paste that link, it sends you to random Gaia Online Chatterbox threads. Another thing that tiny url seemed to have...masked. Tiny URL masked a lot of things if some users don't pay attention to their clicking, they may fall victim to scams.

That's why, everyone should be more attentive to what they do and not cry to Gaia Online Moderators when they do something that could of been avoided.

Well, that's my two cents on the subject matter on hand.
I also found the Halloween event a little bit too much. There's way too many things going on with the event. You can't fit so many things on one boat and expect a few people on Gaia to be happy. True, the items are great but gets a lot of people frustrated because most of the older users and by older I mean age wise in life, don't have the time and commitment to be on Gaia Online 24/7.

Indeed, Gaia Online has grown to become a giant and nearly a conglomerate like way of working. I still love Gaia crying but I can now admit to myself that it's no longer the community it use to be. But many users keeps it that way and I'm glad the community that way is still there. blaugh

Well, that's another rant of mines. OMG ARWEN SHUTTAP ALREADY!!!

I've gotten the same PM.

The account's essential stats:
Posts: 3 (none are visible in her history)

So it was probably created specifically for the purpose of password scamming. confused

I've gotten several Tiny URL masked PM's like that, usually for Avatar Arena advertisements. Report and move on. It makes me sad that people fall for them--when my brother started using Gaia, I told him that he should never click links people send him, and never accept trades from people he doesn't know. xp

The events are overwhelming, yeah. I'm tired of the "Event" itself running at the same time as the trick-or-treating. I'd much rather it be one or the other; my attention span isn't long enough to keep track of conversations in threads AND trick or treating AND event. gonk

I get a few password phishing scams every now and then. What sucks is that often times the accounts, like the one you posted in the screenshots, are often hacked themselves. D: Poor users.

I think they made the event way too long. I mean, it lasts until the 7th? >>; That's forever it seems.

I luckily have only received one of those PMs before. I am suspicious by nature so i made sure to check out the url etc and saw it for what it was. I reported it of course. People are just so ridiculous. I can't believe someone was so dumb as to send a Pm like that to an ex-mod. Not too bright. The biggest problem i DO have is getting phishing scams from people pretending to be paypal. That is how i pay for my MCs and i am thinking that gaia is probably connected to it. My reasoning is that i had paypal years before i got started on gaia and never received a phishing scam until i DID get gaia. That is one HECK of a coincidence.

The Halloween event is great but i agree with you on the time consuming aspect of it. I have tried my BEST to get all the items etc etc and i am STILL not done. O.o there is just way too much to do. Not too mention when it came out the first day last week Gaia eventually had 160,000 users on i think eek when it got to that i said screw it and signed off. I was getting way too frustrated with the log offs and so forth.

GAH!!! I am taking up too much room on your journal!! Must......stop.....ty...ping....!!

Oh, noes!

I hate those types of scams. I have received several of them recently as well, and I know it is not an old friend. I dont have many friends on gaia to begin with, so it is fairly easy to keep track of all the people I consider friends. Plus many of them are members of guilds I am in, so if it was a mule, they would probably have the post in one of the guilds instead of elsewhere.

As for the event, I completely agree, that users who are older, age wise, may not have the time to post and get all the items. Also, with how huge gaia has become, I have retreated to guilds and specific threads where I know the people who post there. I feel I can talk with them about a large variety of subjects, and not have random people popping in.

I ate teh muffin man!

I got a similar scam, it was hosted on ripway as well. It was a PM asking to vote for a friend in the avatar arena... and the profile made it seem like it was a real person, not a scammer ... so I think they were hacked and they used her account ><
