Days later, I watched the battle as it waged just down the street.
JP awoke with a groan from the bed she had entirely claimed last night.(No I didn't look for action, she was cold and her bed was taken to some other patient.)
"You're awake already?"She groaned.Walking over to look at what was going on."Don't worry they won't get us."She hugged me.
"I'm not worried about them getting us.I'm worried about how fun it will be to attack my newly-found prey."I began to hug her back, "I promised you that the battle would stop.I promised you that I would fight.And we agreed to fight side-by-side.Protecting each other in order to destroy Carnaso.We will destroy him.I don't care what it takes, I will free your world from his grasp."I said holding her in my arms."You've grown affectionate of me haven't you?"JP looked at me with those ice-blue eyes, pools I could see myself being sucked in by their gaze."Yes you are my guardian, and I yours.....We both are.........connected.We will destroy Carnaso together.I won't let you go.When the battle is over, I won't be returning home alone, I know that.Who knows, maybe I already am home."I stared at her, feeling those pools envelop me again.
Later that day, I broke out of the hospital.JP had my back as we entered battle for the first time together.Completely in sync, we destroyed all of Carnaso's soldiers.The battle had seemed unreal, I felt as though I had become three times as strong as soon as I left the hospital.We had been using moves taking them all down at a frighteningly quick rate of speed.
The entire battle felt as though everyone else was moving in slow-mo while me and JP were flying around.I punched, kicked, threw, and even blasted the suckers with a dark energy I called Chaos Blitz, and Chaos Missile.And JP was nearby almost completely mimmicking my moves!We stopped the fight,"How did that feel?""Better than you know."JP returned in a frightened voice."What's wrong?""I'm scared Skold, I enjoyed the feeling of pain, the feeling of killing our opposition.So well, I could barely stop to think without getting pushed back."I just smirked,"It was all instinct what you did back there wasn't it?Believe me, the feeling you had is to be enjoyed not feared.Because that great feeling, is exactly what will make you think clearest in battle.After a while of feeling out of control, you'll realize how what you do during that feeling is really thought about, hightening your senses, intensifying your blows, making your stamina and endurance grow.It could utterly make things to where fighting will become easy to do, and feeling pain will become harder.In destroying your enemy you are fighting for what you believe in, and yourself.Kill or be killed, that is the true rule of war.Use your abilities to your advantage, and don't lose sight of your goal."I came to her, and put my hand gently on her face,"Rejoice, our enemy will soon fall, and the realm will be saved."She just hugged me and started to cry."We won't make it through this.Will we?""JP, we are going to survive this war, never say that you're going to die.In fighting that thought, half the battle against Carnaso is won."
We returned to a warm reception conducted by the hospital.We were claimed to be heros.Kids came to us asking for autographs, pictures, anything to do with us.We were asked to make a speech over the war, we simply said,"The war will end.Carnaso will fall, and we shall make sure of that down to our last breath!"They all roared in applause.Of course we had a few more questions and speeches, but why bore you with that?The one that struck me most odd was,"Did our soldiers help you guys out in the battle?"We both replied in unison,"They did, none died on our watch, and theyhad our backs.They even saved us from a sneak attack on a couple occasions."(We of course lied a bit, the soldiers for the resistance didn't save our necks, but we weren't going to take all of the credit.)
Later that night we returned to our room."Skold, are we really going to take Carnaso down?"I replied with a smirk,"I am going to destroy him with my very own hands JP.I will face him, I won't guarantee that I'll come back, but I'll guarantee that you won't have to worry about him anymore when I get through with him."We laid down in our bed,"Now get some sleep.We have a big battle ahead of us."
