Domo Backpack ate my head....
Crazy adventures in this world we call, GAIA.
Please Recycle
Make a difference no matter the size!
So, the other day I wrote to a local newspaper and responded to the article relating to being Green. The newspaper said they provided recycle bins at every train station in and around the Massachusetts area. My opinion was mainly thanking them for making a difference. However, the difference can't be completed without the help of the commuters themselves.

Everyone just throws out their newspapers the moment they get off the train at the nearest trash can. Making those recycle bins useless to the 90% of commuters during morning rush. The 10% did make a difference but...I wonder why people don't take an effort to recycle. And the majority of these people are educated well paid folks.

Al Gore's - An Inconvenient Truth needs to be aired every moment of every day, on every channel. I wonder, if Al Gore runs for President again, will he get elected? The Nobel Prize winning Emmy winner. Durn *_*;; Was it an Emmy or an Oscar...well it's one those.

I try to recycle, but I find it frustrating out here, where we have to pay for a Recycling Service.

Where I grew up, we'd get paid for turning in our recyclable goods. There's no such businesses around here, as far as I can tell.

confused

Where I live, you can exchange trash bags of cans aluminum cans for money. I know a lot of people that go around school campuses to collect cans and bottles from trash cans to recycle for money.

Incentives matter. People probably wouldn't be environmentally active without it.

Where i live we pay for our recycling serviced but then we get some sort of write off in our state tax returns so it pays to recycle. I know what you mean though. At Wright State where i go to school the recycling club finally got recycle bins all through out campus for students to use. We have paper, plastic, and bottle bins every where you turn in the buildings so there really is no excuse to NOT recycle. In addition, it is my responsibility to collect the unread campus newspapers every week and make sure they are sent to the recycling center. I do my best to do my part.

On a side note....I'm not sure Al will ever run again....plus seeing how....dumb some people can be.....i do not think he would ever win.

Hi Arwen,

Actually, Gore got a Nobel Prize, Emmy, AND an Oscar eek ! The Emmy was for his new cable TV website though. He just needs a Grammy and Tony for his collection whee !

Oh, noes!

I have grown up recycling so for me I just do it automatically. I always feel bad throwing stuff in the garbage when it could be recycled. I have even been known to take apart spiral notebooks from years ago to recycle the paper on the inside, and the metal spiral part as well.

Plus, I guess, my state pretty much had the first recycling program in the US, not that I was alive at the time though. Cans and Bottles from carbonated beverages can be turned in for 5 cents each. We always hold onto our cans and bottles for a while so we can get more back at once.

It's hard here in Singapore. They always say we're such a clean green city but when ever I see the rubbish AROUND the rubbish bins instead of inside .. or even sometimes left in lifts or in bushes, I feel ashamed.

It's now worse since there are no dustbins inside MRT stations ever since that terrorists scare we got a couple of years back.

Sigh.

Oh, noes!

Yup, you have to pay for the curb-side recycling. Basically, you put your recycling out when you put out your garbage and it will be picked up for you. It costs a bit extra, but it is added to the garbage bill.
