*A few weeks later*
Nothing too interesting has happened over the past couple weeks. Gerard and Lyn-Z (who has developed the nickname ‘Z’ from me) have been all over each other and I barely get to see him anymore… let alone hang out with him. It kind of sucked really. I was, once again, watching The Nightmare Before Christmas with Frank, about 45 minutes before their set was up. Since we were still in the bus, Frank and I were going to head over to the venue soon so they could get ready. Just then, Frank’s cell phone rang, very loudly, from his pocket. He groaned but answered it anyways. “What?” he said into the phone, instead of the usual “Hello” which made me laugh for some reason…
“Ugh, do we have to? Okay fine, bye.” He ended, closing the phone.
“Well?” I asked.
“It was your dad, he says that we have to be at the venue now,” he said adding the now part in a mocking tone, which again made me laugh.
“Then what are we waiting for, come on!” I laughed, roughly dragging Frank after me.
“Whoa, take it easy, that’s my only right arm there that you're trying to rip off there. If you break it off, oh boy are the fans going to be mad at you!” I again, laughed and just tugged harder as a way to say that I didn’t care. There were a lot of people backstage tonight, more than usual actually. And usually, there still were a lot of people. We saw several fans, all the guys from Linkin Park except for Rob, Ville from HIM, the guys from Placebo, the guys from Julien-K, Gerard and Lyn-Z talking to Mikey and Alicia-wait, Mikey and Alicia?!?!
“Uncle Mikey!!!" I screamed and gave up on dragging Frank and ran to give him a very big, much needed hug.
“Hey kido,” Mikey laughed, hugging me back. Then I gave Alicia a very much needed hug too and Frank finally got his lazy a** over and gave them both hugs as well.
“Where are Ray and Bob?” Frank asked.
“Eh, I think they’re off practicing somewhere,” Gerard answered.
“I ******** swear, Bob and Toro are two of the hardest working people I’ve ever met.”
“We all know that Frankie.”
“It’s true!”
“So are you going to be playing tonight?” I asked Mikey, changing the subject.
“Yep!”
“Oh and guess what?” Alicia asked me.
“What?”
“You and I are going to be in the very, very front watching them play.”
“What?! Really?!?" I yelled, obviously very excited. I looked to Gee.
“Let’s just say that three against one isn’t a fair argument.”
“Yay! Thank you Daddy!!!" I yelled again and gave him a huge hug. Man, I haven’t done that for a while…
“What about you Z?” I questioned.
“Eh, I think I’ll just stay backstage for this one, you two have fun.”
“Okay then, whatever you say!”
*30 minutes later*
Ahhhh!!! I was sooo excited!!! Alicia and I were in the very front of the mosh pit right now, waiting very impatiently for My Chem. to come on. Or, at least I was. Even though I knew the guys, well, I was related to two of them! I was still super excited! This would be my first mosh pit show ever! What is taking them so effing long?!? Alicia was being recognized at the moment by lots of fans so that was kind of annoying… But no one recognized me?! Ugh! Well, I guess that’s a good thing but whatever… Ahhh!! Here they are!! MCR had finally hit the stage and I was going crazy! Alicia laughed at me, probably because I was screaming like some crazy fan girl. Gerard stood directly in front of, probably to make sure that I didn’t get jostled around too much. But that was kind of stupid because that’s half the reason why Alicia was here! But oh well, still awesomeness!
Bob started up This Is How I Disappear and the band immediately go into it. And to think that before Frank was being a lazy a**. He looked like he was the most energetic of the five. He always had so much energy on stage it was crazy. But of course we already knew that. Yeah. Gerard’s vocals sounded especially good today, although I really don’t know why. Even during the show people were asking Alicia for autographs or a picture or something and I was like, “What the frick?” Now that, my friends, was reeeaaaally annoying. Anyways, I was screaming and moshing along to every song to make the best of this opportunity. Sometimes one of the band members (besides Bob) would make a small, inconspicuous gesture towards me but it was pretty much just like a regular show. Except the fact that Mikey was playing bass instead of Matt, and the crowd seemed even more hyped because of it. They played through the regular set, but they didn’t play Heaven Help Us. They kind of stopped playing that song now which sucked because I loved it. My favorite though was Helena because it meant a lot to me. I had only met my great-grandma once before she died and that was when I was little so I didn’t remember too well. During this song, I just sang along instead of my usual screaming because it wasn’t the type of song that you would scream. There set seemed to have ended just as quick as it had began and before you know it, it was only Gerard and the piano for Cancer. Next to Helena, it was the most emotional song that they have ever written, in my opinion of course. Again, it was a song that I actually sang along to, not scream. Gerard sang it very beautifully and with much emotion like always. He really does have a beautiful voice. While he was singing the last “Cause the hardest part of this, is leaving you,” he jumped down from the stage to the empty space between the stage and the barrier (which earned him many, many high-pitched, girly screams), and helped me over with him. He looked at Alicia but she made a signal saying she’d just go around. Gerard said his usual,” Thank you, goodnight!” into the microphone and we jumped back on stage and walked off. I could feel everyone staring at us as we walked off which made me feel a bit self-conscious.
“Have fun?” Gerard asked me once we had gotten off the stage.
“******** yeah!”
“Hey, watch your language!”
“Sorry Dad. But it was really effing awesome!!!”
“Glad you had fun.”
We met up with the rest of the guys and eventually Alicia found us too. We were hanging backstage for a while and two kids came and asked for pictures, autographs etc. There was an older girl whose name was Nicole, she looked about 15 or 16, and a younger one whose name was either Amanda or Manda, I couldn’t tell because she said it so fast. She looked around my age, probably a little bit older. So they hung around with us for a while, Nicole was having a strange conversation with Gerard and Ray, Frank and Bob were doing… I don’t know, something with Amanda/Manda, and Mikey, Alicia and I were playing Kevin Bacon.
“Uhhhh…. Damn, I effing hate N!” I said.
“Haha,” Mikey teased and I playfully punched him in the arm.
“Thank you, for your undying sympathy.”
“Your welcome!”
“Pst, think of Projekt Revolution! We saw him today!” Alicia hinted me. I thought for a moment.
“Uhm… Oh! Nathan Leone!”
“Yay, high-five!” So I high-fived her.
“My turn?” Mikey asked.
“Yep.”
“Okay… ah, s**t E.”
“Oh wait, what’s that band with the singer…”
“Uh, sorry to break it to you Mikes, but most bands have singers,” Alicia laughed.
“No! The one with the girl whose name is like, Anna Lee or something.”
“Okay, 1) the band your thinking about is probably Evanescence, 2) her name is Amy Lee, not Anna Lee,” I said.
“Yeah okay, Evanescence.”
“Argh, I have to do E again!” Alicia sighed.
“Awh, I’m sowy,” I said, patting her on the back.
“Whatcha doing?” Frank asked randomly, resting his chin on Mikey’s shoulder.
“Play Kevin Bacon,” I answered.
“Oooh, I see.”
“You should see.”
“Well, I do see.”
“Good.”
“Fine!” And with that, he stalked off again.
“Okay… that was… awkward…” Mikey said. Then Frank came running back.
“Can I play?”
“Sure! You can do E!” Alicia said, a little too quickly.
“Okay then… Eddie Reyes,” he said, joining our little ‘Kevin Bacon’ circle. Now it was my turn. Joy.
“S… hmmm… Silverstein.” So we played Kevin Bacon for a while longer until we got tired and headed back to the bus and watched TV. Eventually, Ray and Bob joined us but still no sign of Gee. Probably out with Lyn-Z was my guess. We all just sat around for Gerard to come back and watched The Nightmare Before Christmas… again.
We’d watched TNBC one and a half times now and we were really getting worried. Usually, he would at least tell us before he went out. Just then, the door swung open and there stood Gerard, with a huge smile on his face.
“Hello,” he said.
“And where exactly have you been?” Mikey asked impatiently.
“Out.” No s**t Sherlock.
“No s**t Sherlock.” Oh yeah, go Mikey!
“Why are you so pissed off?” Ha.
“Well, maybe the fact that you had us worried sick for the last 2 hours because we had no ******** idea where you ******** were!” Answer your question Gerard?
“Yeah, dude, where the ******** were you?” Frank asked.
“Let’s just say, I’m engaged now.”
