On Tuesday I finished reading one of the most amazing books I've ever read, the Da Vinci Code. I've heard so many people talk about it, and how great it was, so I basically begged my grandmother to read it (since it was hers). When she told me that since I was only 15, and too young, I wouldn't have enough religious knowledge to understand the whole plot of the book. gonk That really disappointed me, but I said it didn't matter and that I really wanted to read it. So she let me. whee
And I was so excited. Because of school, I couldn't read it everyday too often, but now that I've started summer vacation, I finished it in three-four days. It was AMAZING.
And I understand the plot, and the religious commentations, and everything.
Spoilers* If you don't want the book ruined for you, DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT.
Just thought I could post some of my thoughts on some parts of the book. 3nodding
I learned so much about the Pagan/Christian religion and how Pagan religions are judged so quickly in a wrong way, when they are truly all about the nature of the Earth, but my favorite parts were: The true meaning of the Pentacle and that it was about to be the Olympic symbol. The P.H.I thing. I think I was actually about to take a ruler and measure myself to see if it would work. And the comparisons between Leonardo's different paintings like The Madonna of the Rocks, and The Last Supper.
And until I read the Da Vinci Code, I never really thought that Jesus could have been married to Mary Magdalene! I don't know if I spelt her name right there... -.-; And they had kids! That also kind of shocked me.
And I really enjoyed all the characters in the book. Come on, for all those who've read the book, it was so obvious that Sophie and Langdon would get together in the end. It was fate. And when we found out that Sophie had living relatives, it was so awesome.
And Teabing! I actually liked him and all his knowledge and the way he could get out of any situation, until he turned against them! All the other characters were just as great for this story.
As soon as I was halfway through the Da Vinci Code, I ran right to Chapters to buy Angels and Demons which I am currently reading right now. (: And then I'll get Deception Point, and Digital Fortress, and never stop reading. Haha.
Life is good.
