The Black Velvet Book of 'S'
User Image
I'm going to write a book! OMG!
Yes, true...sortof. I'm more along the lines of thinking about a book I'd enjoy writing. I can never keep a bok/story going once i've started it, most likely because I run dry of Ideas! Gah! Don'cha just hate writers block?

Any who, 'Magic Blue'--what the book is about--

The Main character is Hiroki, a yougn teen who is living on her own in a small apartment. A When she was younger, on her 6th birthday to be exact, her parents died in a car crash. She'd been raised by her grandparents, staying in her own one room apartment in the aptment building they owned.

Ever since Hiroki was young, she had a strong connetion and love for art. Painting, drawing, doodling, etc. As she grew older, she began taking as many art classes as possible, in and out side of school. When her talent was noticed at an art fair by the age of 13, one of Tokyo's smaller Art Museums began buying her art for their building.

Hiroki was returning home from personally delivery one of her recent pieces of work, when she happened to stumble upon a small thirft shop, though it didn;'t have every day items you would usually find inside. It contained potions, though most likely fake. Skulls and scriptures, Talismans and other 'Magical' things. Old clothes from the 'fuedal era, and such. even some old Katana's, though they looked good as new.

in the store she stumbles upon a brand new pencil to which is blue. hikori, LOVES the color blue, and, just has to have it. It's just a pencil, but she needed a new pencil any how, except for the strange insignia and writing that was along one side of the pencil, that went unnoticed. Hiroki buys the pencil and returns home.

(more to come...)

Hikori later uses her pencil for the first time one day when she wakes up. her daily ritual is to do a quick sketch to start her day off and warm herself. The first time she uses the pencil, she draws a small bird. When finished, she goes off into the kitchen to get some breakfast, or toast if you want exact. When she returns, she stops, seeing a bird upon her sketch. Except the piece of paper is completely blank. She looks to the bird, as it simply skuttles across the table to pick at the toast she put down. Lookign to the windows, she knows the bird couldn't have gotten in that way, because the windows were all shut. Hikori figures the bird may have gotten in some other time, but she can't figure out what happened to her sketch, or why the bird that sudden appeared looked exactly like the bird she'd sketched.

She shakes off the coincidence and the mystery of her missing sketch, figuring she's still tired and just hillusinating. She opens a window and trys to shoo the bird away, but in a failed attempt, keeps the bird as a pet.

((yet more to come...Edit-added section))

As the days go By, Hiroki begins using her new friend, the bird, as a model, doing paintings of her. Yes, the bird is a female. Hikori names her bird Mystic.

More days pass by and Hikori begins having trouble at school. people talk behind her back first, thinking her a strange girl with no friends, more in love with her art and bird Mystic, than the real world. At home, Hikori uses her blue pencil fromthe jypsy store once again, drawing strnge creates and beasts in her frustraition. Realising her strnge creatures of drawings, she becomes frieghtened, having never drawn out such things through her anger. She instantly throws them away, wishing not to see them. Suring the night, shadows of small creatures creep from her apartment and into the night of the city.

Hikori wakes in the morning and thinks about the night befor, and the monster lik drawings she'd done. Hikori retrieves the drawings from the waste basket cautiously, only find that the papers are completely blank. she is shocked by this wondering if perhaps she dreamed the whole thing, though doubts it, slowly catching onto the abilities of the pencil.
((More to come...))

'Ok, First the bird, now this? Eather this pencil is a trick pencil....or else...', Hikori examines the pencil closely, feeling foolish for getting so worked up about something silly like this. But what happened to the drawings she'd made? 'I'ts not like they just up and walked off, right?', she questions herself nervously. Upon closer expection, she notes the tiny writing in the strange language upon the side of the pencil. She's never seen writing in this lauage before. She can't read it, so doesn't think much of it at first.

Sighing from boredum and confusion, Hikori slumps back onto her bed, as Mystic flutters over to the bed, hopping over to hikori and tilting her head at Hikori, chirping in question. Hikori simple smiles at the little bird, patting her upon the head with her fingers.

Later on, after mopping and thinking in her room, Hikori claps her hands together. "Alright! That's that! this thing is bugging the heck out of me...time to draw!", she grins with the final words and sets up quickly, skipping across the room to retrieve her sketch pad and other items. Her blue pencil is stuck behind her ear. Having failed to find any other pencisl to draw with, Hiroki dicides she'll just use the blue pencil, as she sets on her bed, Mystic perching on the post at the foot of her bed.

Hikori is quick at work, drawing a line here, a line there. It isn't long until she has drawn a small bouqet of flowers, as she day dreams of recieving such a gift from a guy she use to have a crush on. After finshing a few last touches, she sets the blue pencils back behind her ear and holds the sketch pad up, to show Mystic.
"So? what'd ya think?" Mystic simple chirps and tilts her head at the picture. Suddenly, a few moments later, something falls into Hikori's lap. She isn't very startled, but moves the sktch pad abit, only to find a bouqet of flowers, setting in her lap. Her eyes widen, and looking to the sketch pad, the paper is completely blank...
((yet again..more to come...^^ Compliments! please?))

thanks for the encouragement. I'l be needing it. Writers block is the worst. and writing can often be a pain when Your near dry as a well for Idea's...^^; I have the whole plot thought out, It's just the fact of writing it out now, and adding in my side plots and story line.

Ah, you told me about this one! I think it's very well thought out so far. You seem to have the same problem that I do. I can always think of great beginnings but there's no middle and I can sometimes think of an ending, but it's not well thought out either.... *sigh*

It sounds very interesting. Be sure, if it gets published, this would be the sort of thing I would go buy to read. Keep on, and hope the writers' block isn't too serious.

Looks like an interesting story. It has potential. But the writing here seems quite like a draft still. But I think this is good way to get the story frame written.
My stories always fail because there is no middle. (It was interesting someone else commented that way too, maybe it's more common problem than what I thought.)
Anyway, back to business... Keep writing. I think I'd like to read more wink

I like it so far. It is so much more simpler than my nightmare I written up earlier. That story is really confusing and I'm trying to sort it out.
Your story sounds so much better than mine. I hope you don't get writers block with this story. Good Luck 4laugh
