"Hey! Wait up!" I heard a yell come from behind me. I slowed my running pase and
glanced behind me to see a frail boy. "Sorry, Kinaro. I'm late for school!" I
yelled back to him. Kinaro was one of my best friends. He was 8 a year older than
me. His hair was light brown and short. My hair was long and blue and my bangs
went a little passed my eyes. He smiled at me as we both approched the school
building with kids still walking in. I give myself a little sigh of releaf. "Phew
I'm not late!" I ran in and joined my other friends not realizing I left Kinaro
behind. I sat in my seat and waited for our Reading teacher to start class. "Okay
class. How was everyone's weekend?" our teacher, Mrs. Arito asked us all. We all
managed to reply the same word at the same time. "yes" was all we said. I would
talk all class period and sometimes get yelled at. But it was fun to be able to
talk. I took it all for granted of course like all little kids did. At the end of
class I left and went to the park I always went to afterschool that usually filled
with kids. This time, however, it was not. I diregarded it. I could care less if
kids were there or not. I never really played with them. I sat on a bench and
watch the clouds when I heard a ruffel in a nearby bush. I looked and saw nothing.
After a few hours I walked home to see no one there. I took off my shoes and
slipped on my slippers. "Hello? Mama?" I asked and heard no reply. I looked
around quietly as I thought she playing hide-and-go-seak like she usually did when
I got home. I couldn't find her. I finally decided to look in our cellar. I
opened the door gently and called in a low tone, "here I come, Mama!" And ran down
the stairs. There she was.. but not as I wanted to see her. She was on the
floor.. half alive.. or should I say.. half dead. Blood was in her hands, but no
where else. She was mumbling words I couldn't understand. I tried to run to her
side, but I was pulled back forcefully by a very strong hand almost crushing my
shoulder. I tried to turn, but the pain was too great. I soon became unconsious..

I awoke.. outside.. in the dark. I couldn't remember a thing. I didn't even know
my own name. I knew nothing of myself or anybody.. just darkness. I slowley got
up but felt a pain in my neck.. so great I was forced to not move. I layed there
for a few minutes trying to remember the things that made me in pain. "Did I get
ran over?" I asked myself. I didn't know. Finally I got up.. slowley. I stood
with a little hunch of pain. I tryed to look around, but my neck hurt too much. I
moved to body to look instead. I saw trees.. everywhere were trees and leaves. I
was scared a little. "Who am I? Where am I? Why am I here?" I knew of nothing
and it angered me. I finally saw a figure. Oddly enough I wasn't scared.. more of
releaf. "Hello?" I barely got that out.. I wanted to ask more but my pain affected
the way I spoke. At least I knew I was girl.. or at least sounded like one.. a
little one. The figure approched me so fast I didn't know it did. Out of nowhere
it was infront of me. "Hello, child.." A deep, dark voice slowy called. I didn't
know what its sex was.. only that it didn't sound good. So then why did I feel so
happy that it was there.. talking to me? I tried to talk, only silence managed to
slip out. "Cannot speak, child? That happens a lot when you change.. it shall
pass soon.." I didn't understand. A look of confusion came across my face. "Do
you not understand? Come," He said loudley and I followed. Moonlight fell across
its face and I knew it must have been a man. He was handsome. His hair was black
and fell over his face almost covering it. I could see his eyes sp clearly.. they
were light blue.. a very odd color of blue.. yet beautiful. He took me into a cave
and mended my neck. "The pain shall subside.. soon. You should be able to talk
soon, also, child. And when you do.. I shall answer any question you might have,"
He told me. That comforted me slightly. "finally some answers.." I said in my
head.
After a few minutes I was able to talk. "What is my name?" I asked. "Ah, your
name, my child. It is Inoya," He replied with a smile. "Oh.. how old am I?" I
asked another. "You are 9, child," He told me. "Oh.. why am I here?"
"Don't you want to ask what you are?" I was confused. "Arn't I a person?"
"Yes.. of course. Your only half human, my child."
"Half?" Shock filled my thoughts. HALF? Whats the other half? Pie?!
"Yes, child. You are half human."
"What is the other half of me?"
"Vampyer," He smiled an evil smile that sent chills through my spine. "Vampyer?
Me? How?"
"You were biten.. you've been asleep for a few years. We all thought you were
dead. You were supposed to turn into a full fledge Vampyer. But you became only
half. I do not know why, child."
"Why was I biten?"
"You were chosen.. at random."
"Random!"
"Yes, child! Do not anger me!" His flash of rage scared me to be quiet. So I did.
"Here. Drink this, child," The man said handing me a little bowl of steaming
broth. As I drank I asked one more question. "What is your name?"
"My name, child... is a mystery," I soon fell asleep.
