Log six: The Scars of time and the binding chains
It had been several years since the incident in the Twin Peak mountain range, and Light was now 15. Even though that was the case, Light did not feel like a 15 year old at all, the burdens of his journey had somewhat aged him, not physically, but mentally and emotionally. When he did get the chance to sleep normally, which only happened every once in a while, he would find himself staring at the ceiling, and not getting a wink of sleep. And he had taken precautions not to become close to anyone he had encountered on his journeys, and not to leave traces that he had been in any specific location at all. Since his run in with Ryu last time, he hadn't seen a trace of him or his close nit group of cronies. But also since last time, Light had become more powerful, he had spent every waking hour that he wasn't traveling, sleeping, or seeking answers to all of the unanswered questions of his life training. Light would train for several hours on end when given the chance, doing unarmed practices or using different weapons he had acquired on his journey, such as a pistol and a large knife which had come in handy more times than he could count. Light had never known that weapons such as guns had existed until he had met Vincent in the monastery all those years ago, they had been a forbidden item to have when he lived in the Sage's Sanctuary all those years ago. Only once before had Light ever seen a gun of any sort, it was a silver revolver inlaid with black trimming that was kept in a lock box kept in his masters quarters, when Light had found it and picked it up, he quickly took it from him and scolded Light, telling him to never say anything about it or touch it again. Light had wondered why his master kept a gun when it was against the rules, and wondered what had happened to it, little did he know that he was about to find out. Light was traveling through a desert town far off in the East called Koto, according to an informant who he had met at the local bar, an organization had set up shop here and was recruiting members. But according to the informant, as soon as the organization came to Koto, the local crime rate, which was quite high, dropped substantially, but the reason for that was that lately, corpses of many of the towns top criminals were found scattered around various areas of the town, discarded like garbage. Light took this as his que to do some investigating and disguised himself in a hooded robe with a veil around the lower area of his mouth so all that was visible were his eyes. He walked for several hours, and noticed some very peculiar individuals in the town, each of which wore black robes which bore the number thirteen in Roman numerals, appeared to be armed to some degree, and appeared to be everywhere, some standing like sentinels, others roving the streets in squads as though patrolling for trouble. But, after seeing what seemed like a sea of those robed individuals, Light saw a person that he didn't figure he would see here of all places, it was Vincent, in broad daylight, his gun holstered at his side, and a book in his hand as he walked down the street. Light hid in a nearby alley and peeked his head out to watch to see which way he went. When he turned off down an alleyway, Light followed, the book in Vincent's hand appeared to be distracting him too much for him to look for around for anyone that might be following him.
