He lie upon the bed holding my hand. His breathing was strained. "Claire..." he said at last, "they're going to kill the ones like me...please...kill me...now...I don't want to die by their hands...and since the first time I saw you I wanted to spend my last moment with you. Please..." he reached into his pants (don't put your head in the gutter I'm being serious here.) and produced a dagger. His eyes were still shut and a black tear rolled down his cheek. His body stiffened and then relaxed.
"Why me?...I can't...you don't..." I choked and couldn't speak anymore.
He opened his eyes and sat up, he grabbed my shoulders and stared into my scared eyes, I could feel myself trembling, his eyes went through me and he fell back against the bed taking me with him.
"Why you?" he sighed and his arms slipped to my waist, "when I saw you I knew I loved you. The night I was taken, all I could think of was dying and seeing you get married to someone else...well I...not that marriage is...nevermind...anyways ever since I was taken all I've wanted to do is hold you and tell you these things...my emotions...sweeter than Shakespeare and more powerful than Mozart's music. And this could be my last time with you. I don't want to risk it...please.."
I gasped and my body tightened as did his hold on me. I felt myself fainting and slipped out of his arms. He screamed and tumbled off the bed almost right after I did, "Claire!" he screamed again. He was on top of me and I blacked out. I woke up in his arms tears were running down his face. When he realized I was concious he kissed me hard and rested my head on his shoulder like a child. "Don't...don't..." he pleaded, "don't kill me...I'm being selfish and unfair to you. You are going through pain too."
Then I woke up.
