Homeward Bound



Feeling satisfied with the way I looked and taking a drink of the water, I cleared the vast black river in a massive leap. Making light work of the forestry through a stifled run, I speculated upon being at the castle within two to three more days, what would be a few weeks to a horse. Recalling this fact made me chuckle, and in doing so, close my eyes to an enormous tree directly in front of my path.

My sister, who was unable to sleep, had gotten dressed and was now standing on a three story high balcony. Staring out over the small village at the woods, only to see everlasting darkness. She got a shiver when her eyes passed over a large black snake-like figure, the dragon which was thought to be my murderer. Her husband, just walking out in his night gown asked “My darling, will you return to bed with me?”
“I cannot sleep.” Was her reply as she held her demure gaze at the gigantic creature. Did it just move she wondered tensely.

“Wow,” I said to myself after waking from my head trauma. Reaching up and feeling the bump made me laugh, “Could be worse.” I stood and turned my attention upward, replacing the moon was a couple storm clouds and to the east was the twilight of a my destination, Sunrise...
