After the incident, Lien and I were rushed to the hospital. The punks had punched Lien so hard that his appendix had ruptured and caused internal bleeding, he was slowly dying. My arm was broken in three places and the knife that one of them had stabbed me with had punctured my right lung, which was slowly filling up with fluid, and my aorta. We both went into surgery side by side, praying that the other was ok. I was crying as they put me under, fearful that I was going to lose my brother and best friend. As I slipped into the Darkness, I fell into the memory of what had happened.
We had been on our way from the card shop after winning the tag-Team Duel Tournament. No one stood a chance against us. Everytime we beat a team, we were allowed to take the rarest card from the players' decks. This had upset a LOT of people, especially when we won the tournament and was awarded $200 dollars apiece plus ten free packs of cards. We had left several people wanting to go so far as kill us, and they tried to. We rounded the corner and ran smack into six of the people we had just beat. They grabbed Lien and commenced to beating him senseless, while they pulled a knife on me and starting cutting me in every place they could find. I could hear Lien screaming for help, and I fought as best I could to get to him, but they overpowered me. I felt so helpless at the fact that I couldn't help my brother. They stabbed me in the chest and then stole all of our things and left us to die. Luckily, someone came by and saw us lying on the ground, me holding my brother in my arms while I tried not to cough blood on him.
As I floated in the Darkness, I could hear my brother calling out to me. I looked for him, and was greeted by a light that was slowly fading. "Brother, I dont think I can last much longer. They're doing all they can, but they just can't stop the bleeding. Bubba, I don't blame you for not helping me, I know you tried." Tears were pouring from my eyes as I saw the light take the shape of my brother. "I think they are losing me too. My lung has filled with too much blood, and the aoarta is flowing to heavily. I don't want to lose you Lien. You're my brother. You're my best friend. I would do anything to keep you alive. I would do anything to protect you, if only I had had the power." Lien put his arms around me and I encircled him my arms. I could feel his light fading, the light that was his life.
Suddenly, a Light shone in the Darkness, brighter than any we had ever seen. As our eyes adjusted, we could see the entrance to a giant hallway filled with doors. Before we knew it, we were standing in that hallway in front of the largest set of doors there. From behind the doors, we could feel a warmth and a glow that only some benign force of great power could create. Lien was looking brighter, as if his energy was being bolstered by the power on the other side. We knocked and the doors swung wide, shining a Light that shone over all things. Hearts, in the form of cores of energy and sparkling light, floated everywhere. And seated in a throne in front of a massive portal, was a small, silver haired girl holding a giant key.
"I have heard your crys and I have seen your love for one another. Neil, I can help you realize your wish, to have the power to protect your brother. And Lien, I can give you what it is you want as well. The power to end pain, to bring recovery, to bathe all those suffering the pain you and your brother feel in the healing Light that surrounds you. I can give you this power and strength, I only ask for one thing in return." Lien and I looked at each other and nodded. "Anything. We would give anything." The girl smiled. "You are currently standing in what is known as Kingdom Hearts. It is here that hearts are made and here that hearts go at the end. This magnificent Kingdom will soon face great perils the likes of which you have never seen. Dark forces will seek to seize the power of this place for their own evil means. I only ask that you swear yourselves to be Kingdom Knights, Protectors of the Great Heart. Swear to do all in your power to protect this place, and you will have the power to not only protect yourselves and others, but the power to go to other worlds. There you will see things and learn to be the heroic warriors you were destined to be. All it takes, is half of your Heart, half of your being devoted to serve Kingdom Hearts. Do you accept?"
We thought for a moment. I looked into Lien's eyes and saw our answer. "We accept. We will swear allegiance to Kingdom Hearts for the power to protect each other and those around us from Darkness." The girl lifted her key and pointed at the ground. "Kneel and recive your blessing." We knelt at her feet, with Lien's hand in mine. Another key appeared in the girls empty hand. "I give unto you phenomonal power. This power will manifest itself in a form or forms chosen by your heart that will suit you and serve you when ever you need it. From this day forth, you will no longer be known as Neil and Lien, but as Xeiln Fireheart and Enxil Lighthand." With these words, she thrust the keys into our chests.....
