Wahaha?
This is just a poem i had to write for school about a father. so i kinda wrote it from the point of view of a small child who's father is leaving for war.

A Lost Cause
By Alexandra C.

The day my father left,
Was the day I was never to forget.
It was a brisk morning,
The last day I would ever see,
My father’s worn face again.
He smiled lightly at me,
And placed something in my small hands.
It was his hand carved pipe made of mahogany,
Still warm from his morning smoke.

I looked at him with a puzzled face,
He only laughed and told me,
To hold it and keep it safe,
Just until he came back.
He knelt down and gave me a quick hug,
I could still smell the familiar scent,
Of his pipe coming from his clothes.
He stood up and grabbed his duffle bag,
Turning to the door.

As he walked through the old doorway,
He glanced back and winked at my mother and I.
The door hung open on it’s hinges behind him,
I looked back to my mother who was weeping.
She hugged me tight and we watched him walk,
Walk down the old dirt road that we knew so well.
Years later I was never to forget that day.
I still wait in the same house,
Glancing back at our old mantle,
Where his worn pipe lay.

Tada! tell me what you thought! please comment! XP
