A black kit roamed the forest. She pricked her ears and tasted the air. She unsheathe her claws and prowled on. She saw the mouse and leaped. Suddenly, the forest disappeared. And she was not on the mouse anymore. She had been dreaming and landed on her brother.
"Smokekit get off of me!" He yowled and pushed her off. "Sorry" she purred and stalked into the clearing. "Ashkit! Come here!" She screamed. Ashkit ran to his sister and looked out into the clearing. Snow had fallen in the night and covered the Thunderclan Camp.
Firestar padded out of his den and jumped down the rockfall. Smokekit stared toward the apprentice den. Jaypaw,Hollypaw,And Lionpaw where sharing tounges with each other. Then she saw her father at the end of the clearing. Lightningfur was clearing out the snow.
"Smokekit come inside, you to Ashkit" Lightningfoot called from inside the nursery. Smokekit saw Ashkit go towards their mother and lay down next to her. Smokekit went over to join them. She fell asleep.
She walked on a star like path. Smokekit saw her dead sister, Whitekit. She had died in a very cold leaf-bare. Then the stars turned to water beneath Smokekit's paws. She splashed the icy cold water but it was no use. "Whitekit help me!" she cried. Whitekit watched her. Smokekit stopped lashing her legs and let herself go limp. She watched Whitekit leap away happily. Her head went under water for the last time.
The water gulped her up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ashkit woke up next to his mother. His sister had kicked him awake in her dream. He shook his head and got up. He stretched his legs and padded outside. He poked the snow with his front paw. It was icy cold. Ashkit jumped out into the snow and wadded through it.
He climbed the rock fall and shook off the snow. Ashkit walked inside Firestars den. "Yes?" Firestar asked staring at Ashkit. "When is our apprentice ceremony?" Ashkit meowed. Firestar got up and padded over to him. "It starts now" he purred.
Ashkit raced to the nursery. He woke up his sister and then his mother. He told them about the ceremony. Smokekit purred excitedly. They both raced into the clearing when they heard Firestars call.
"From this day forward, until you earn your warrior names you will be called Ashpaw and Smokepaw" Firestar meowed. "Lightningfur will be Smokepaw's mentor!" Ashpaw watched his sister great their father and pad off. "Lightningfur will mentor Ashpaw!"
Ashpaw greeted his mother and padded off. He went with his mother and father to go training. He dashed at Smokepaw. She stepped out of the way and jumped on him. He rolled over but she scratched him. He saw a movement in the bushes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Smokepaw scratched Ashpaw's white fur. She noticed he was staring at the bushes. She looked near the bushes to. She yowled and pushed up. That scared Ashpaw. He yowled and dashed back to camp. Smokepaw sniffed the air and then looked at the bush.
She saw amber eyes glow straight at her. They burned into her fire orange eyes. She hissed and dashed at the bush. Smokepaw sprang and landed on something fluffy. She smelled Tigerstar's rancid Shadowclan scent over him.
She yowled a battle cry and scratched Tigerstar's side. She bit into his neck and clawed onto his back. She scratched his back with her hind legs. Smokepaw heard her heartbeat in her ears. Then Tigerstars body flinched beneath her. Had he moved?
Tigerstar flung her into the air and slide from under her. She landed on the ground. The pain shot through her body. She barley could move a muscle. She glared at Tigerstar with hate in her eyes. Then blackness covered her sight. She saw no more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ashpaw heard his sister cry a battle. He spun around and dashed back to the bushes. He saw his mother and father looking for him. But he didn't feel like being caught at a time where a battle came. "Smokepaw!" He yowled a cry of battle. He stared at the bush where he saw the amber eyes.
He didn't see the eyes at all. But now, instead of the eyes, he noticed black fur. Then a white tip of a tail and scratches. He padded toward the bush and squeezed in. Ashpaw looked at the gray fur and gasped. There lay his sister, Smokepaw, not moving at all.
Looking for the amber eyes he saw them again. They burned into his grey eyes. He growled and then flinched as he saw the strong muscles of a brown tabby. It was Tigerstar. He stepped back and stared at the leader with wide eyes.
Tigerstar had been kicked out of Thunderclan before Bluestar died. He joined Shadowclan with Darkstripe. When the Shadowclan leader died Tigerstar took his rightful place. He chose Blackstar to be his deputy. Tigerstar took Bloodclan to battle. But Scourge didn't care about Tigerstar. But Tigerstar had been commanding Bloodclan. Scourge unsheathe his claws and dug them into Tigerstar. The Shadowclan leaders nine lives went away. Then Blackstar took his place.
"Your sister is not dead" He growled "She just had pain shot". Turning to face Tigerstar he couldn't help but remember that this leader was dead. "What do you want from me!?" Ashpaw asked with a commanding voice.
"I want you to be a leader" He growled "Kill Firestar and earn your rightful place as leader. Even though your an apprentice you must demand to be a warrior. Then demand Firestar to because deputy. After you become deputy. Lead Firestar to an area no one visits. You set up a trap and Remove his nine lives! Just like Scourge did to me!".
Ashpaw glared at tigerstar. "No!" he spat " I am not goin to be like you! I am not goin to be a rouge! and I am not goin to join Shadowclan! That was your life! Not mine! I will earn my rightful place when it is time! I'm not a dumb furball like you! You wont stop me from taking my time! I wont take orders from you! I take orders from Starclan!".
Tigerstar yowled and threw himself at Ashpaw. Ashpaw dodged the big tabby warrior. He grabbed his sisters body and dragged it into the clearing. Ashpaw sat in the area waiting for the powerful leader to spring out.
Ashpaw saw the leader dash straight at him. He unsheathe his claws and dashed faster than the leader. Jumping to the left side he snagged Tigerstars fur and leaped on his back. He chomped down onto the leaders neck.
Tigerstar screamed and shook him off. Ashpaw landed on his paws and dashed at the weak leader. Smashing his body against the dark tabbys side. Tigerstar bowled over and smashed onto the ground.
Ashpaw staggered. His blow had bounced back onto himself. Tottering to one side and the next he fell on the ground. The leader's body was to powerful. Pain shot through Ashpaws body. Blackness covered his sight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Smokepaw woke up from the darkness. She turned her head to face a grey body. She slowly got up from the pain. Turning to see what the grey body was she gasped.
There lay the limp body of her only brother. She limped over to see if he was alive or dead. She sniffed his body and licked his torn ear. Smokepaw turned to face Tigerstar. Smokepaw and Ashpaw were always together no matter what.
Their mother and father were actually Sister and brother. Smokepaw was black with a white tip because Lightningfoot was black with white tip. Ashpaw had grey fur because Lightningfur had grey fur. They once had a little sister named Whitekit because she had white fur. But since they were born in the winter Whitekit didn't survive. Ever since Whitekit's death Ashpaw had been protective over Smokepaw.
Smokepaw now felt the same feeling with her brother. He had came back to save her. Now it was her turn to return the favor. Anger rushed through her like lightning. She unsheathe her claws and slitted her eyes.
Smokepaw growled and ran really fast at Tigerstar. He went to step out of the way but she was to quick. She leaped and landed on his back. Bitting his scruff really tight. She started to taste blood.
But then the blood flavor turned into a rotten sparrow. She spat and let go. Smokepaw landed on the ground looking around. He wasn't anywhere in her sight. She heard a low growl of pain behind her. She spun around to face the intruder.
Her brother was getting up from the horrible pain in his side. She padded over to help him up. Together they walked back to find their parents. Smokepaw stopped walking and turned to face the training area.
She knew that when they went battle training again they would see Tigerstar again. But the family would be together and battle him away from Thunderclan territory and away from the family. But that would be the time she was an warrior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 6~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ashpaw couldn't help but look at his sister. He knew she had seen Tigerstar to. For she had battled him when Himself had fallen when he battled Tigerstar. Ashpaw remembered the times they were kits.
Ashpaw and Smokepaw would run around the nursery trying to catch each other. Jaypaw would treat Smokepaw's bleeding shoulder from their kit fights when Ashpaw got to rough. Smokepaw would beat him at racing to the nursery when they bet witch one was faster than the other. Their mother would tell them to settle down from their kit-playing and their arguments. Ashpaw would roll over and push Smokepaw off of him. She would dash to the entrance of the nursery and tell him to come here. He would see snow all over the place. Firestar would call a clan meeting to the rock fall. They both would turn into apprentices. Then both of them would go train with their parents as their mentors. Lightningfoot and Lightningfur would go out hunting and tell them to stay in the training area. Smokepaw would be in the bush hurt and near Tigerstar. Tigerstar would pad out of the bush and tell Ashpaw to rule his clan. Ashpaw growled no and Tigerstar leaped at him. Smokepaw would wake up and attack Tigerstar after himself had fallen to the ground. He'd wake up and dash to his sisters side. Ashpaw and Smokepaw would fight against Tigerstar.....
"You both look terrible!" Lightningfoot exclaimed"You two look like you both had been in a horrible battle with Shadowclan over a piece of prey and scratched you up! Dear StarClan what have you been doing? Attacking yourselves?"
Before Ashpaw could speak Smokepaw leaped forward and said what was on his mind.
"We've been attacked by Tigerstar!" she yowled"I went into the bush before Ashpaw saw me, Then 'Wham!' I was on the ground unconscious!But then Ashpaw saw my body and Tigerstar attacked him to! They battled until Ashpaw fell unconscious! Then I woke up and attacked Tigerstar screeching 'What have you done to my brother!' Ashpaw finally woke up and we both beaten Tigerstar together!"
Ashpaw noticed Lightningfoot exchange glances with Lightningfur before facing Smokepaw and Ashpaw again.
"You both look tired" Lightningfur meowed"You probably had a bad dream and woke up by scratching each other thinking you were both Tigerstar and all the non-sense you said"
"But it happened!"Ashpaw blurted out while Smokepaw growled in disgust at their parents accusing them it was just a dream.
Lightningfur must have had noticed his daughters reaction. "Young lady I will only tell you twice to keep your fit to yourself you hear me?" he demanded.
"Why don't you go lick yourself and see how your dumb mouse-brained self can think it was just a dream!" She spat crossly glaring at her father.
"You hush up!" he snapped back
"Make me!"
"Young lady!"
"I'm not young!"
"Smokepaw I...." Ashpaw began but Smokepaw spat crossly at him.
"Stay out of my fight Ashpaw!"
"Make me!" He spat
"I will!" she hissed and unsheathe her claws. She leaped and tackled him with her weight.
He unsheathe his claws and scratched her belly. She yowled and scratched his back. "Ouch!" he spat and rolled over crushing her.
"Mrr-oof!" she growled under his weight "Get off you fat pile of mouse-dung!" She tried pushing him off but he was to heavy. "Ow!" He screeched as she bit his back.
They stopped fighting a little bit later on and padded back to camp with their parents.
Ashpaw stopped and looked back at the training hollow. He gulped as he saw Tigerstar staring at him with hatred in his amber eyes. He narrowed his eyes and glared at Tigerstar back. For the first time he saw what had made Tigerstar unhappy......
