When I awoke it was just a few minutes after the sun had drifted beneath the far off horizon. Jean was lying next to me and when he saw I was awake he kissed me and said
"Good evening." I sighed as I kissed him back.
"Jean.." I asked "What are we doing tonight?"
"I'm taking you to meet the others of our kind that are friends of mine."
"Ok." I said as I got up out of the coffin. Jean got out after me and stood up and brushed himself off.
In the moment I stood i realized what had really hapened. I felt even more different then the night previous. my body felt sealed and empty. everything was sharper. all my feelings more acute. my human memories farther away.
How had i felt last night? worried? scared? that couldnt be...could it? had i decived myself so much the transformation solidified my wretched reasoning in my new mind? I ignored these thoughts. what did it matter. i was immortal now
all these thoughts and realizations passed through me in less then a second.
"Catch me if you can!" I shouted as I started running up the stairs out of the crypt. I was outside in the garden in seconds. I stopped and breathed in the night and was about to start running when Jean pounced on me and threw me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"Hey! Put me down!" I yelled at him as I blushed at my letting myself get caught so easily.
"No. You told me to catch you. I did, but you didn't say anything about letting go." he said a mischievious smile on his face. He rose up in the air with me still on his shoulder and started flying.
"Jean!!! Where are we going?!?" I asked trying to free myself from his grip but to no avail. Even if I could get out of his grip I didn't want to, I didn't know how to fly yet.
The drop from the height we had already reached wouldnt kill me, couldnt anymore, but it would hurt and would take time to heal from.
"You'll see." he said with another smile and a laugh that scared me.
