Link and Midna
~The Most Beautiful Thing Of All~
The couple went out the door of the inn, holding hands. Now it was evening and the cool wind danced on their faces. They both looked ahead and saw a beautiful sunset.
Midna sighed.
"What's the matter?" Link asked curiously, raising an eyebrow. Midna closed her eyes.
"Even if Ganon is dead, he will be reborn and do his evil deeds all over again. He could destroy us all and rule Hyrule and my world, I know it I have a huge feeling in my gut!" She answered, opening her eyes slightly. Link faced her and touched her cheek with one warm hand, and turned her face gently so she could face him.
"Never. I'll never let Hyrule be destroyed, or you'll world. I'll be fighting till the end. Plus, I don't think you should really worry about that right now. Enjoy the peace right now, Midna." He smiled softley and leaned in to kiss her. Midna smiled, too, and nodded her head. She knew she could trust his words. After all, he had been successful in beating Ganon for a long time now, and he wasn't going to stop. He truly was a hero.
"I'm gonna go get a little snack if you don't mind. I'm starving!" Midna told him, breaking the silence. She could hear her stomach growling at her. Link nodded and she ran off into the inn. Link stood there for a second then heard someone call his name. He looked over to where the voice was coming from and saw Ilia running to him, smiling. Link smiled back.
"Ilia, what brings you out here?" He asked her.
"I wanted to come here and tell you sorry for my big outburst the other day about Epona... I'm really sorry!" She told him. Link smiled at her and hugged his friend.
"It's ok. I forgive you." He camly told her and broke away from the hug. Ilia smiled.
"So... what's with the huge grin when you were running to me?" He asked. -Oh yeah...- Ilia thought. She had almost forgotten about that, a little too carried away with the hug. She squealed.
"Link, your not gonna believe this!" She said. Her grin was getting wider. She put two fingers in her mouth and whistled. Link heard something trotting towards them and Epona came out almost from nowhere! Link gasped and ran over to his steed, cupping her cheeks in his hands.
"I can't believe it..." He whispered. He looked over at Ilia who was standing there, smiling with her arms at her back. She felt so happy to see her best friend and his trustful steed reunited again. Link smiled almost as big as her's was.
"How did you...?" He began to ask, but Ilia cut him off.
"Magic." She simply answered, tilting her head a little, in the cutest pose. Link smiled wider, which actually hurt, but that didn't matter to him. He looked over back to Epona and he smelled something sweet on her.
"Hey, Epona, you smell great!" He told her, petting her forehead. Epona neighed and Link chuckled.
Midna had come out of the inn and joined Link and started petting Epona as well with a huge grin on her face. Ilia had left them alone for a while, walking back into the inn to get something to eat herself.
Link looked at the sunset. "Follow me."
He had taken her hand and dragged her to his most favorite spot in Kakariko Village. The tower with the huge balcony where you could see almost anything.
Once Link and Midna had gotten to the very top, they sat down on the balcony and watched the sunset fade away. Midna leaned her head on Link's shoulder, and Link rested his head on her's, arms wrapped around eachother.
"Link... this is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life. It saddens me that you can't see anything like this in the Twilight Realm, though...." She sighed. Link looked over at her. "Why can't... you make one of your people the new ruler of your world? Then you and I can be with eachother forever..." Link suggested. Midna nodded her head in disagreement. "Link.... I'm the only Twilight Princess in my family's royal bloodline. I have to rule. I can't just choose some random person to be the new ruler... I'm sorry... but I will visit as much as I can. I promise." Midna smiled at him and leaned up and kissed him. Link broke away from the kiss and smiled at her. They looked away from eachother and stared at the sunset again. Link looked down and Midna looked at him in curiosity, wondering what he was thinking about. It was silent for a few minutes then Link spoke up.
"You know what the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my entire life?" Link asked her.
"No, what?"
"You."
